This is a Bible study on GOD Answers Prayer. Click here for a printable Bible Study Guide.
Yes, God promises to answer all our prayers. The answers God gives are always the same, He says Yes, No, and Wait.
God promises that if we call Him that He will answer. Jesus said if we ask anything in His precious name, He will do it, if we are abiding in the will of God.
Wow, how absolutely wonderful is that!!
Why doesn't God answer some prayers? Most of us have asked this question at some time in our lives. The answer is -- GOD ANSWERS ALL PRAYERS. God always answers ALL our prayers.
God consistently answers ALL prayers, throughout time, ALL the same way - Yes, No, or Later
Yes - Some people see God's answer to their prayers instantly. Some people may not see God's answer, so they think their prayer was not answered.
No - Sometimes want is best for us is not necessarily what we want. Only God knows our future and what is best for us. God saves us from ourselves.
Later - Some people may have NOT yet received their answer. Remember God's timetable is not our timetable. Sometimes God is working out something in your life, we must be patient.
God's ways are NOT our ways. God's answer may not be the answer we expect, therefore some may think that God did not answer our prayer. God knows what is best for us. God answers our prayers according to His will, not ours. Always remember, God answers ALL our prayers. There has never been a time when God did not answer the prayers of His people.
If God’s word is in you, your prayers will be answered.
Do you abide in God? Does God abide in you? Does God's words abide in you?
God answers all prayers
Some times we just cannot understand and say that God didn't answer all our prayers, but this wrong, GOD ANSWERS ALL PRAYERS. The difference is that God’s answer may NOT be the answer we want or that we expect, therefore we cannot see the answer, when it is right in front of our face. None of us should ever think to our self that we know more than God or think that we know what's better for us than God does. God knows everything about you and me and He knows what is best for us.
Never tempt GodTempting God is NOT prayer. We should never tempt the LORD our God.
Tempting God is asking for some sort of sign from God. An example would be, if you ask God to do something for you and in exchange you will do something for him. Sounds preposterous, but people do it every day. Do you actually think there is anything you could give God that He doesn't already have? "If you are God, then do this or that" or "If you get me out of this jam, I will go to church every Sunday." The word of God calls this tempting God, and that we are NOT to tempt the Lord. You cannot make bargains with God, this is tempting God and God will NOT be tempted.
God does NOT tempt any man
Who tempts? Satan tempts. Do you want to be like satan or like God? Be like God - don't tempt.
Satan tempts JesusIn the wilderness, satan tried to tempt Jesus to yield to sin three times. Satan said to Jesus, "If you are the Son of God, change the stones into bread".
Satan tempts Jesus, "If you are the Son of God, jump from this height and the angels will catch you"
Satan tempts Jesus, "If you worship me, I will give you everything you see".
Each temptation was rebuked with the word of God. Each time satan tried to tempt Jesus into sin, Jesus said "for it is written...". Jesus quoted the word of God to silence satan and then told satan to go away. And this is exactly how we are to respond to satan when he tries to tempt us into sin. When we are tempted by the devil, we need to be like Jesus, and quote the Holy powerful written word of God to satan and tell satan to go away. These were not the only times that satan tried to tempt Jesus into sin. Satan will always try to tempt believers of Christ, until the end of time when God puts satan away forever. So always be aware of temptation, so you won't stumble. Stay in God's word to avoid temptation. Satan has NO authority over believers because we are the children of God. The devil cannot read the thoughts of any human being. The devil has NO power over the children of God. The power of God is greater than any other power, including the power of the devil.

Does God hear certain people's prayers more than others? The scriptures say, God is no respecter of persons.
God does not hear a certain saved religious leader's prayer more than He hears your prayers or my prayers. Your prayer is just as important as the prayer from Billy Graham or any high profile saved person. God hears all the prayers of all of His children.
Prayers of the righteousGod’s ears are open to the prayers of the righteous.
God hears those that do His will
God hears the repentant prayers of all sinners
But, if God doesn't hear the prayers of sinners, then no one can be saved? God hears all sinners prayers for salvation. This scripture is not speaking about a sinner's repentant prayer for salvation, but sinners who are not repentant and who are not seeking God. God knows what is in the heart of all people, who come to Him in prayer. God knows if you are truly seeking Him.
God knows your heart. God knows if you have a repentant heart or not. No one can fool God.

A life lived to self and sin, does not please God. A life lived forsaking the truth of God, does not please God. A life lived in the pursuit of the things of this world, does not please God. A life lived blaspheming Jesus Christ, does not please God. A life lived outside of the righteousness of God, defiantly disobeying the commandments of God, is not a life lived inside the will of God. You can't have it both ways, you cannot live a lifestyle against God and the word of God, and expect to abide in God and God to abide in you, and expect God to hear you, it simply does not work that way. There can be only one master, God, Christ Jesus in your life, otherwise your prayer is an abomination to God. (Again, the prayer of the repentant sinner is always heard by God. God knows if you are sincere, or if you are just playing with prayer.)
What about all those people who do not have access to a Bible or fellowship with other believers? How do they grow in their prayer life? A person does not need to own a Bible to know God. A person does is not required to have a Bible to be saved, because God says we are saved by His grace alone. A person does not need to go to a church to know God. One example of such a person is the thief that hung on the cross next to Jesus. He didn't own a Bible, He wasn't a member of any church organization. He knew nothing except Jesus. By the grace of God through faith in God, he was saved that very moment, without a Bible, without committee, without baptism, without letter, without kneeling, without sacrament, without procedure, without rituals, without communion, without speeches, without prayers, without overseers, without joining anything, without paying, without works, without tithes, without anything or anyone, but faith in Christ Jesus by the grace of God alone (Luke 23:43). All people for all time, from the beginning of time until the end of this world, have been and will be and are saved the exact same way, by the grace of God through faith in God we are saved (Ephesians 2:8).
God is able to save anyone anywhere, all we must do is look to Him and be saved, just as the thief on the cross beside Jesus, because God promises, if we have faith in God for salvation, then we will be saved. There are many people in the world who do not own a Bible and who are saved. These people grow in their prayer life by communicating with God and following the Spirit. The Holy Spirit guides and directs us and shows us how to live. God abides inside all who are saved. God is always with His children. God is always listening to hear the voice of all His children. God is waiting to hear your voice today.
