And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.
John 4:16

What is Love?  The scriptures tell us all that God is love.    God is love and God loves us!

The Holy Bible says God is Love...Who is God? God is love.  What is Love? God is Love.

God is love and the Holy Bible contains the word of God and everything that we ever need to know about love.

The Word of God, the Holy Bible, is the greatest love story ever told.  Love is the theme of the Holy Bible.

There is no greater love anywhere than the love of God, than the love God has for each and every one of us, His creation.

Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.

We love him, because he first loved us.
1 John 4:10,16,19

What is love?  The word of God tells us that "Here's what love is, not that we loved God, but that He first loved us".  God is love.

Not that we deserved God's love and not that God loves us because we love Him.  No, God loved us first, before we loved Him.  God loved us so much that He sent to us His only begotten Son, to this earth from Heaven, to save us all from sin and death, so that we all could spend eternity with Him.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
John 3:16

We love God because He first loved us.  We are able to love God because He loved us first.

What is love?  Where does love come from?  How are we to love God?  How can we show our love toward our God?  What does loving God really mean to you?  How does God show us that He truly loves us?  What kind of love is true?  Does God love all sinners?

These questions, like all others, are answered by God in His word, so let's open our Bibles and begin...

What is Love?

Where does love come from?

What is the difference between God's love and the world's love?

How did God show us His love for us?

How does God show us His love for us today?

Why does God love us?

How long will God love us?

How does God love us?

Who are we to love?

Why should we love God?

How are we to love God?

What voids our love to God?

How are we to love others?

How does God love us?

How to keep the love of God?

How do we know we have the love of God?

What if we don't love?

What are we to love?

Is love God?

How can we show God how much we love him?

What are the promises to those who love God?

What can love do?

Is there anything we shouldn't love?

Who can separate us from the love of God?

Who doesn't love God?

How can we love?

How long are we to love?

God is love.  The opposite of love is the opposite of God.

God loves you.  No one is excluded from God's love.

We must love on purpose.  You make the choice to love or hate.

We are to love God above everyone and everything.  Loving anything above God is idolatry.

We are to love God with our whole heart, soul, spirit and mind, our complete being.  This is the first and greatest commandment of all.

We are to love everyone.  This is the second greatest commandment from God.

Love is not an option with God.  We can only know God through His love, without love we cannot know God. (1 John 4:8)

What is Love?

The dictionary defines love as a strong affection for another arising out of kinship or personal ties.

The Holy Bible says God is love

Since God is love, we can know for a fact that to have fellowship with God we must have love.

Love is an essential key to knowing God.

Without love we cannot know God.

The word of God doesn't just say we must have love, but tells us that we are nothing without love.

We are nothing without love

And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.
1 Corinthians 13:2

Our life must be built on love.  We must have a foundation of love, God's love.

Love must be intertwined into everything we do in our life.

If we are nothing without love, then we must understand what love is in order to build our life on love.

The word of God is very clear on what love is and gives us numerous examples of love.

Love endures all things

Love is:

  • Patient
  • Kind
  • Does not envy
  • Does not boast or brag
  • Is not proud
  • Is not rude
  • Is not self-seeking
  • Does not anger
  • Does not keep a record of wrongs
  • Does not delight in evil
  • Rejoices in the truth
  • Always protects
  • Always trusts
  • Always hopes
  • Always perseveres
  • Never fails

Charity suffereth long, and is kind;
charity envieth not;
charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,

Doth not behave itself unseemly,
seeketh not her own,
is not easily provoked,
thinketh no evil;

Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;
Beareth all things,
believeth all things,
hopeth all things,
endureth all things.

Charity never faileth...
1 Corinthians 13:4-8

If we were to stop at these scriptures, we understand what love is to God.

Since God is love, His word is full of scriptures teaching us what His love is all about.

The greatest example of love is the love God has for all people of the world.

The love God showed us when He gave us His one and only begotten Son, as sacrifice for the sins of the world.  So everyone in the world could receive remission of sins and receive eternal life in Glory with Him.

God desires to take you, where He created you to be, which is with Him in His Kingdom for all eternity.

We cannot imagine giving our innocent child as a sacrifice, to be brutally and painfully tortured and then killed for a crime they did not commit, for the sins of someone else.  But that is exactly what God did for all of us in the world.  That sacrifice is the love of God and why the scriptures say, God is love.

There is no greater love than giving one's own life for another.

Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
John 15:13

Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.
1 John 3:16

Love is God sending His Son to remove our sins

Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
1 John 4:10

What is Love?  The scriptures say Here is love, not because we love God, but because God loved us, and sent his Son to be the atoning sacrifice, the substitute, the ransom, the price, the propitiation for our sins.

"Not because we loved God", God is not love because we loved Him, or anything that we do for God.  God loved us before we loved Him, which is love.  The love of God is not dependent on us.  Love was before we were created.  God is love, love is of God, love is from God, love exists because of God, and God existed before all things.

Many of us would not think about loving someone who didn't love us back.  We have conditional love.  In spite of who we are, God loves us.  Even though we are most vile and wretched creatures in the natural, God loves us.  God loved us before we were, in spite of who we are.

Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
John 15:13

God showed us His love, true genuine love, by His sacrifice on the cross for our sins, God laid down His life (1 John 3:16; John 10:17), so that we could be reconciled to Him (Romans 5:10; 2 Corinthians 5:18; Colossians 1:21-22) and live in love with Him for all eternity (1 John 4:16; Ephesians 3:16-19).

GOD is love

He that loveth not knoweth not God; for GOD IS LOVE.
1 John 4:8

The scriptures tells us if we cannot love, we cannot know GodIf we do not love everyone, we cannot know God

If we love each other, we love God, and if we love God, that we are in God and God is in us.

And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.
1 John 4:16

If we do not love each other, we are not of God.

If we do not love each other, God is not in us and we will not be with God.  Why? Because God is love.

In this the children of God are manifest, the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.
1 John 3:10

Are you a child of God, or a child of the devil?

God gives eternal life to those who love.

Death and separation from God waits for those who hate.

We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren.
He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.
1 John 3:14

God said, that if I hate, I do not love Him

If we hate anyone, God said, we do not love God.

If I say that I love God, but hate, God calls me a liar.

If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?
1 John 4:20

God's word in His scriptures is crystal clear, if we hate anyone, we cannot love God.

And if we do not love God, we will not see the kingdom of God and have eternal life in heaven.

And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.
Luke 10:27

Love is of God

Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
1 John 4:7

The second greatest commandment given to us by God is "Love one another".

Why is loving each other such a big deal with God?  Because love is of God.

When we share love with each other, we share God with each other, because God is love.  Love is the heart of God.  Love is the language of God.  Love is the will of God.  Love is the law of God.

To know God is to love God.  Everything about God is about His love, because God is love.  To be in God is to be in God's love.

The scriptures don't say God likes love, or maybe we should love, but says that God is love and He teaches us to love one another.

To know God we must build our knowledge, our faith, our trust, our salvation in God and on His love.

As children of the Most High God our salvation is built on faith in Christ Jesus and rooted and grounded in love, by which we are able, gifted the privilege, to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge, and are filled with all the fullness of God (Ephesians 3:17-19).

Our salvation is the result of the love of God.  Our salvation continues because of the love of God.

Nothing happens except by the love of God.  Everything is because of the love of God.

Why should we love one another?  Because God loves us and because we love God, we ought to love one another (1 John 4:11)

Love is NOT God

Do not be deceived, Love is NOT God.  The Scriptures, God never says that love is God, but that God is love, there is a huge difference.

God is the Creator of all things, including love.  God is self-existent.  God was before all things, including love.

God is God, none else.  Nothing but God is God.  Love cannot be God, because that would place love equal to, or above God.  Nothing is God but God.

There are other gods that men worship, but there is only One God, none else (Mark 12:32).

God is before and above all things.  God is first, everything else follows God.

Where does love come from?

Love is a gift to us from God.

God is love.  Love comes from God.  God is the source of all true genuine love.

God is the source from which all love flows.

Love is because of God and without God there would not be any love.

Love is eternal

God is love and God is eternal, and therefore love is eternal.

There has never been a time where God did not exist.  God has always been.  God is love and love has existed with God before time began.

Love has always existed and will continue to exist throughout eternity.  God has no beginning or end, neither does love.  Love is not God, but God is love.  Love cannot exist without God.

Without God there is no love.  Those who choose to live without God in their lives here on earth, choose eternity without God also.

Choosing an eternity without God is choosing eternity without love, because God is love.

As human beings, we have never truly lived without love.  Even those who choose now not to love, not to live in love, not to give love, and not to receive love, still have a choice to change and receive love before they die.

After we die, there is no choice (Psalm 6:5, 31:17; 88:5).  The decisions we make while we are alive, here on this earth, determine our destiny for eternity.

We will either live with God and His love for eternity in the kingdom of Heaven, or be separated from God and without God and His love for all eternity.  The choice is ours alone while we are alive here on earth.

I can't imagine what this world would be like without God's love, I can't imagine living eternity without the love of God, without giving love or receiving love for eternity.  How horrible that would be!

Salvation, the gift of God, opens the door to the path to God and His eternal kingdom.  Without accepting His free gift of salvation by grace through faith, no one will see Him.

Love is a gift from God

When we receive God's free gift of salvation, God gives us the spirit of love.

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power and of love, and of a sound mind.
2 Timothy 1:7

God gives His children:

  • the spirit of power
  • the spirit of love
  • a sound mind

There is no fear in Love

Fear is not of God, fear is of the devil.  God's love casts out fear.

There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment.
He that feareth is not made perfect in love.
1 John 4:17

Salvation gives the children of God perfect love that casts out fear.

What is the difference between God's love and the world's love?

God's love is NOT the same as the world's love.

The world has a different view of love than God.  The world has created its own love, with its own definition and with its own rules, which contradict the word of God, and that is complete opposite of God's love.

The world's love is a cheap counterfeit imitation of God's love.

The world says love is temporary.  God's love is eternal.

The world says intimate love is with anyone you choose, anytime, anywhere.  God says that intimate love is private and between one male husband and one female wife.

The world says love, even marital love, is disposable.  God says what He has joined together, husband and wife in marriage, let no one destroy.

The world says multiple love partners is okay.  God says that love is monogamous, between one woman and one man.

The world condones and promotes homosexuality as love.  God says that homosexuality is not love and is an abomination to Him.

The world condones and promotes adultery as love.  God says that adultery is sin against Him.

The world condones and promotes lust as love.  God says lust is covetousness and is a sin against Him.

The world condones and promotes lust, saying it's okay to look.  God says that if you lust after another it is adultery.

The world's love is selfish, self seeking.  God's love is not selfish, seeks not its own way.

The world's love is conditional.   God's love is unconditional.  God loved us before we loved Him.

The world's love is limited.  God's love is limitless.

The world thinks sex is love, perverting love.  God says love is not sex.

The world's love takes.  God's love gives.

The world mixes love with hate, creating destructive, unhealthy love/hate relationships.  God's love excludes hate.

The world's love destroys.  God's love builds.

The world's love is mean and rough.  God's love is kind and gentle.

The world's love is prideful.  God's love is humble.

The world's love controls with fear.  God's love is perfect and casts out all fear.

The world's love is full of heartache, sadness, depression, darkness, hopelessness, anger, messiness, and confusion.  God's love brings joy, laughter, happiness, light, comfort, hope, and peace.

The world's love is never satisfying, empty, meaningless and full of sorrow.  God's love is complete, abundantly sufficient, satisfying, full of purpose and rejoicing.

The world's love ends.  God's love is never ending, eternal.

The world's love is erotic, perverted, wicked, obscene, blasphemous, lustful, pleasure seeking, self gratifying, no matter what the cost.  God's love is pure and genuine, never obscene, never blasphemous, never wicked, never perverted, always true, always thinking of other's well being first.

The world's love is questionable, faulty and doubtful.  God's love is guaranteed, full of hope and assurance.

The world's love is broken.  God's love is whole.

The world's love changes with the wind.  God's love never changes.

The world's love will fail you, disappoint you, break you, and crush you.  God's love will never fail you.

The world's love is based in lies, trickery and deceit.  God's love is truth.

The world and the things of the world cannot give you true love, genuine love, because real love comes only from God Himself.

This is why so many people, who when they receive the salvation of God are so incredibly happy and peaceful, because they finally know what God is really about, because they have been filled with God's love, a love that passes all understanding, a love that they never knew before, could never imagine, because they had never experienced the love of God, genuine pure true love that comes only from God, God's love.

God's love is hard to explain to someone who is lost, because God's love passes all knowledge, all words, all understanding, and cannot be compared to anything ever experienced through anyone or anything in the world.

How did God show us His love for us?

Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
1 John 4:10

There is no greater love, than one giving their life for another.

Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
John 15:13

This is exactly what God did for you.  God gave His Son as a sacrifice for your sins, so that you could be reconciled to Him, so that you would not perish, but could receive everlasting life.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
John 3:16

How does God show us His love for us today?

God is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8), and so is His love for us the same yesterday, today and forever.

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
James 1:17

We change everyday, we grow in grace and truth, in faith, but with God there is no variableness, no shadow of turning.  The Word of God is living and eternal.  The love God has toward us today is the same love God will have for us throughout eternity.  The difference is, that we change, and when we see God our vision will be changed and we will behold all of His love.   The scriptures explain it as if we are looking through a glass darkly, we know God loves us and we can see God's love, but when we are finally with Him we will see clearly  (1 Corinthians 13:12).

The love of God never changes because God does not change, but we change and we will be changed when we see Him face to face.

God does not change and God's love does not change.  He is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8).  God's love is shown to us the same way He has shown it throughout history.

God shows us His love for us today by giving us His salvation and hope of eternal life through Christ Jesus (Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8-9; 4:7).  God shows us His love for us today by giving us His gift of faith and His gift of grace, to accept the gift of Christ (Ephesians 4:7).

God shows us His love through His Spirit with love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness and temperance (Galatians 5:22-23).

Why does God love us?

There are as many reasons why God loves us as there are individual people.  We were created to receive the great love of God.

God loves each and every human being that He has created, from the beginning of time with Adam and Eve, to today with you and me.

We do not deserve the love of God, but we are gifted God's love anyway.

It is impossible to fully comprehend the love of God.  God loved us before we were.  God loves us in spite of ourselves  (Ephesians 2:4-6).

Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace,
2 Thessalonians 2:16

How long will God love us?

The love of God for His children is from everlasting to everlasting.

Everlasting to Everlasting is the Lord’s love

God's love for us is everlasting, eternal, forever, infinite.

But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children's children;
Psalm 103:17-18

The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with loving kindness have I drawn thee.
Jeremiah 31:3

How are we to love God?

We are to love our Lord God with all that is within us (Psalm 103:1).

We are to love the LORD our God with:

  • All our heart
  • All our soul
  • All our might
  • All our mind
  • All our strength

And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.
Deuteronomy 6:5

Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.
Mark 12:30

And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.
Luke 10:27

Who are we to love?

First and above all, we are to love our Lord God with all our heart.

Second, we are to love everybody else, including ourselves.

Love the LORD

Take good heed therefore unto yourselves, that ye love the LORD your God.
Joseph 23:11

We are to love the LORD our God with:

  • All our heart
  • All our soul
  • All our might
  • All our mind
  • All our strength

And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.
Deuteronomy 6:5

Therefore thou shalt love the LORD thy God, and keep his charge, and his statutes, and his judgments, and his commandments, always.
Deuteronomy 11:1

Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
Matthew 22:37

And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.
Mark 12:30

And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.
Luke 10:27

Love and Keep the Lord's commandments

Because we love our Lord God, we will:

  • Keep his charge
  • Keep his statutes
  • Keep his judgments
  • Keep his commandments

        ALWAYS.

Therefore thou shalt love the LORD thy God, and keep his charge, and his statutes, and his judgments, and his commandments, always.
Deuteronomy 11:1

Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.
John 14:23

The word of God tells us if we love God, that we will keep His word.

I think sometimes we forget what a privilege and a great honor it is to be called the children of God.  How wonderful and patient is our Lord God Almighty!  He who is the Most High above all things, and who waits on us every day to find time to speak with Him and be with Him.

As the children of God, we diligently seek to know God better, and to love Him better every day.  It is a privilege and an honor to keep His word.   How thankful I am to serve the Most High One True God!  Praise the Father God Almighty and the Lord Jesus Christ forever!  Halleluiah!!

Love and Serve the Lord

Because we love the Lord, the children of God serve Him with:

  • All our heart and
  • All our soul.

And it shall come to pass, if ye shall hearken diligently unto my commandments which I command you this day, to love the LORD your God, and to serve him with all your heart and with all you soul,
Deuteronomy 11:13

But take diligent heed to do the commandment and the law, which Moses the servant of the LORD charged you, to love the LORD your God, and to walk in all his ways, and to keep his commandments, and to cleave unto him, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul.
Joshua 22:5

My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.
1 John 3:18

Love and walk in His ways

Because we love the Lord God, we will walk in all His ways.

For if ye shall diligently keep all these commandments which I command you, to do them, to love the LORD your God, to walk in all his ways, and to cleave unto him;
Deuteronomy 11:22

In that I command thee this day to love the LORD thy God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his judgments, that thou mayest live and multiply: and the LORD thy God shall bless thee in the land whither thou goest to possess it.
Deuteronomy 30:16

But take diligent heed to do the commandment and the law, which Moses the servant of the LORD charged you, to love the LORD your God, and to walk in all his ways, and to keep his commandments, and to cleave unto him, and to serve him with all your heart and with all you soul.
Joseph 22:5

Ye that love the LORD, hate evil: he preserveth the souls of his saints; he delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked.
Psalm 97:10

And to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love his neighbour as himself, is more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.
Mark 12:33

Love the Lord and obey His voice

Because we love the Lord God, the children of God obey Him always.

That thou mayest love the LORD thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.

1 John 4:19

Too many people believe that they can love God without obeying God, but this is not what God says.  God says, if a man loves me, he will keep my words.  Obedience to God is the result of true salvation, true love of God.  Obedience to God is loving God.

Love Everybody

Because we love the Lord our God, we can love one another.

Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.

1 John 2:9

Loving one another is not an option with God.  God says one proof of our salvation is that we love one another.  Only with God can we love like God loves, which is unconditionally.  Only through the love of God can we love our enemies.  With God, through Christ Jesus we can do what may seem impossible to nonbelievers, we can love one another, no matter what.

Because we love God, we can love everybody

And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.

and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
Matthew 5:43-44

We are not only to love our enemies, but we are also to bless them, do good to them and pray for them.  True love is not with just words, but through our actions we demonstrate the love of God through us to other people, even those who are our enemies, who curse us and hate us, who despitefully use us and persecute us.

But I say unto you which hear, love your enemies, do good to them which hate you,

What voids our love to God?

Can anything void, cancel out our love for God?  What destroys love?  What stops us from loving God?

Sin separates anyone from God.  Unbelief separates anyone from God for eternity.

Walk in love

And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.
Ephesians 5:2

How does God love us?

God loves us with an everlasting love.  The love of God cannot be measured, His love is endless.  God loves us more than we will ever know on this earth.

Praise the Lord God, that He doesn't love like we do!!

As human beings we generally have selfish, conditional love, "I'll love you as long as you love me", or "I'll love you as long as you meet my certain needs".  Genuine love does not seek to get, it seeks to give.

God's love is pure and unconditional.  We were never worthy of God's love, we didn't deserve God's love.  There is nothing in this world that we could give God in exchange for His love.  Because of God's mercy and grace, He gave us His love anyway, in spite of who we were.

To understand God's love for us, we must understand who God is, and who we are.   God is God, we are not.  God is Holy, we are not.  God is sinless, we are not.  God is pure, we are not.  God is love, we are not.  Sin cannot be in the presence of God.

God love us and wants to give us all things.  God wants us to spend our eternity with Him in His Kingdom.  God wants to give us His Kingdom.  God cannot be with us because we are sinners.  Through our mortal birth, we are born into sin, we are sinners.  Because we are sinners, we cannot be in the presence of God.  This sin problem did not stop God.  God had a plan, so that through His plan we can live forever with Him in His Kingdom of Heaven.

God wants all His creation to be with Him for eternity.  God wants all the people of this world to spend eternity with Him in Paradise.

God needed a way for all the people, you and me, to be cleansed from sin.  Sin had to be completely removed from us, so that we could live with God in His Kingdom for eternity.  A sacrifice was needed, a holy, just, sinless sacrifice was required for remission of all the sins of all the people of all the world.

There was only one who was a worthy sacrifice, there was only one who was just and holy, there was only one who would save the world from sin and death, the only Holy One, sinless, sacrifice was God.  There is only one Saviour.  God is One God.  One God washes away sins, God alone redeems, God alone justifies, God alone sanctifies, God alone can reconcile us with Him.  Therefore God manifest Himself in the flesh as the Son of man, conceived by the Holy Ghost in the womb of a virgin, born into the world like we are, born in the flesh like man, in the image of man, lived as man in the world among people.  This Son of man is Jesus Christ the only begotten Son of God, came out from God Himself, fully man and fully God.  (1 Timothy 3:16; Matthew 1:20; John 16:27)

The miracle of Jesus Christ, gifted to humanity, is how God showed us His love from the very beginning of time.

God's love for us is undeniable.  God gave Himself as sacrifice for sins.  God gave His life as Jesus Christ so that we might live, that we could receive eternal life and inherit all things from Him.

What is love?  There is no greater love, than to lay down your life for another.  This is what God did for us all, so that we shall not perish, but have everlasting life.

Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.
1 John 3:16

That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.  For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
John 3:15-17

Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
John 15:13

With an everlasting love

The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love:
therefore with loving kindness have I drawn thee.

God loves us with unconditional, never ending, everlasting love.

God love us as He loves Jesus

I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.

How to keep the love of God ?

We are to keep ourselves in the love of God, but exactly how do we do this?

Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.
Jude 1:21

Keep the word of God

But whoso keepeth His word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in Him.

By studying and keeping the word of God inside us, doing what God says, living in the will of God, the love of God is perfected in us.

Keep all God's commandments

For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.
1 John 5:3

How do we know we have the love of God?

Through the Holy Ghost

And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.
Romans 5:5

And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him.
And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.
1 John 3:24

Because we keep God's commandments

Those who keep His commandments dwell in Him and He in them.

Believers keep God's commandments because of salvation, not to gain salvation.  We cannot earn salvation through anything that we do, salvation is the gift of God.  By the grace of God we are saved through faith in God alone, not by our works.

Obeying God's commandments, obeying the word of God is the product of salvation, produced from true salvation.

And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.

And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him.
And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.
1 John 3:23-24

Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.

By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.  For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.
1 John 5:1-3

Because we love God and keep His commandments, we know that we know Him.  We have assurance of our salvation because we love God and keep His word.

And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.

He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.
1 John 2:3-5

Living in the will of God, keeping His word, doing what God says we are to do, living the way God says we are to live, we can know that we are in Him and the love of God is perfected.

What if we don't love?

Is love God?

Many people choose to twist the word of God to align with their false teachings.  Do not be deceived.  Know the truth of God, know God's Word for yourself, bury His Word and truth deep within your heart, and you will not be deceived, you will know what is God's truth.

If God is love, then is love God, could we say love is God?  No, we cannot say love is God because love is NOT God.

The Holy Scriptures never ever state that love is God.  Nothing, no one is God except God.  Things, even love is not God.

What the Scriptures do state is that love is of God.  Many things are of God.  There is One God, and no one besides Him.

Being of God is not being God.  No one is God, except God.  Nothing is God, except God.  There is no one or nothing besides God who is God.

When we receive the salvation of God, we are of God, but we are never God.  Man is NOT God.  Love is not God.

We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us.
Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.
Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.
Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
1 John 4:6-10

God is love, but love is NOT God.

Many people try and bring God down to their level, redefining God to fit in their doctrine, try and put Him in their terms, so they can sell something, or sell their false doctrine.  Do not be deceived by these people.  Know God yourself, know the words of God yourself and you will not be deceived by false doctrine.

How can we show God we love Him?

We can show God how much we love Him through our obedience to Him, by trusting in Him, by praying to Him, by worshiping Him, by studying, keeping and doing His word, by living our lives to Him in love, by praising His holy name, by telling others about Him, by loving Him and loving others.

Psalm 33:5

Why should we Love God?

The reasons to love God are infinite.  Everything we are and hope to be is because God chose to love us, to love me, to love you.   We can do nothing without God.  We can do nothing to please God without love.

Because He first loved us

We love him, because he first loved us.
1 John 4:19

God loved us before we were given life by Him.  The scriptures tell us that God loved us when we were inside our mother's womb.

The Scriptures tell us that we love God, because He first loved us.  We are unable to do anything without God, even love Him.  Because He loved us first, we are able to love Him.  This fact of Scripture is very humbling.

To keep God's covenant and mercy

Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;

Everyday, we should think our Creator, our God for hearing all our prayers.

Prosperity

Pray for peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee.
Psalm 122:6

Prosperity is beyond material things or money.  True prosperity is connected to the things of God.  We must learn what God holds dear, we must seek out what are true treasures and put our time, our prayers, our trust and devotion to the things of God, not the things of this earth, because the prosperity of God, the treasures of God are in Heaven, not on this temporary planet.

We are to love the things that God loves.  We must never forget that the connection between Jerusalem and God are eternal.  We are to pray for peace of Jerusalem.

It is the first and great commandment

And the second is like unto it,
Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.
Mark 12:30

What does God promise to those who love?

The blessings of God are to those who love.

Know God

Without loving others we cannot know God.

God's plan is for everyone he created is to love one another

God wants us all to be part of His great loving family.

God's will for everyone is to love Him and love each other and be loved by Him.  God's will is for everyone to love.

And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.

Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
1 John 4:4

The love of Jesus surpasses anything that the world has to offer.

Like Jesus when he was dying on the cross, we as believers know what comes after this world and this life in the flesh, is just temporary.  And absolutely nothing on this earth can compare to the joy that is waiting for us.

Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Hebrews 12:2

Jesus suffered and died on the cross - for the joy that He knew was to come after the cross.  Because of the will of God and because of the promise from God.

Jesus knew His future and as believers we know our future is eternal life with God in everlasting paradise, in the kingdom of God.

What can love do?

God's love gives us eternal life

Without God's gracious love, love so abundant that He would give His only begotten Son as a sacrifice for the sins of the world, we would not be able to receive salvation and receive eternal, everlasting life.

For God so loved the world, that he gave is only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Who can separate us from the love of God?

Nothing can separate us from the love of God.

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?  Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.

Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,

Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 8:35-39

1 John 4:20

How can we love everybody?

You may say, that it is impossible to love everyone

You may say, that there are some people you just cannot love.

You may say, there is no one who can love everybody.

But God says you can.  God says you are to love everybody.

God says you can love everybody.

Yes, even your enemies and even those who have hurt you terribly.

For with God nothing shall be impossible.
Luke 1:37

How can we love everyone?  The only way we can love everybody is through God, through Christ.

By being saved we become children of God, and therefore we are able to love everybody through the grace of Jesus Christ.

Love everyone through Christ

That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,

May be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;

And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.
Ephesians 3:17-19

We don't have to understand how we can love everyone, we just need to love everyone, as God commands.

As believers, we have the love of Christ in us, which passes all knowledge, and we are filled with all the fulness of God.

God is love, we are filled with all the fulness of God, we are filled with love.

With God we can do anything, and yes, we can love everybody.

Yes, I love God and I love everybody!!

How long are we to love?

We are to continue in love.  We are to love always.

Never stop loving.

As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.
