Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth. Mark 9:23

What is belief?

Belief is defined in the dictionary as a state or habit of mind in which trust or confidence is placed in some person or thing; something believed; conviction of the truth of some statement or the reality of some being or phenomenon especially when based on examination of evidence; faith; credence.

Biblical belief is when we believe in the Holy Bible as the words of God.  Biblical belief is faith in God.  Faith in God is believing that God is all who He says that He is.

But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.  Hebrews 11:6

God defines faith as the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.  Hebrews 11:1

Our belief in God is not based on the physical appearance of God, our belief is based on the evidence of things that we have not seen

Everyone in the world has faith, but NOT everyone in the world has faith in God.

For more information see - FAITH

How can we have evidence of things not seen?  Through our faith in God we have evidence of things not seen.

When we become a child of God, by grace through faith (Ephesians 2:8), we are given understanding by God Himself, through faith we understand.

Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.  Hebrews 11:3

What a beautiful and powerful scripture!

Through faith we understand - without faith there is no understanding

that the worlds were framed by the word of God - by the word of God all things were created, our universe, everything we know about

so that things which are seen - the world and all that we can see with our own eyes

were not made of things which do appear - were not made by things which we can see, nothing was created by itself, ALL things were made by God

Can I believe in God the Father, but not God the Son?

God says belief in God the Father cannot be separated from belief in the Son, because God the Father and the Son, Jesus Christ are one God.

No one can have faith in God the Father without faith in God the Son, Christ Jesus.

No one can have faith in God the Son without faith in God the Father.

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.  If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.  John 14:6-7

Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us.  Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?  Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.  Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake.  John 14:8-11

All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.   Matthew 11:27

There is only one faith, one truth, one way, and one life, and one God.  The Father and the Son are one God.

I and my Father are one.   John 10:30

There is One Saviour LORD GOD Jehovah Almighty, and there is none else.

Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.  Isaiah 45:22

There is One God and there are three that bear record in Heaven, and these three are One, God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.  Only these three are One God, none else.

For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.   1 John 5:7

The teaching of One God in the unity of Father, Son, and Holy Ghost is a foundational truth, that every believer must know in their heart and believe, without a doubt, in order to receive the promises of God, because without faith it is impossible to please God.  No one is accepted by God unless they believe that He is who He says that He is (Hebrews 11:6).

What does it mean to be a believer of Jesus Christ?

Believing in Jesus Christ is faith in ALL that He said that He is, in the word of God.

Believing in Jesus Christ is understanding the truth that He is the Son of God.

Believing in Jesus Christ is commitment to following His ways.

Believing in Jesus Christ is the will of God.

A believer of Jesus Christ has placed their complete trust in Jesus as Saviour and Lord of their life.

A believer of Jesus Christ has placed their whole life in God's hands to do with what He will.

A believer of Jesus Christ does not hold anything back from God in their lives.  A believer surrenders all we have to Christ.  No one can follow Christ except by denying self.

The word of God is full instruction how to believe in Jesus Christ.

Salvation is not words that is said once and then forgotten.  Salvation is a relationship with Jesus Christ.  Salvation is a discipleship with Jesus Christ.

A believer of Christ Jesus gives their whole life to Christ and serves the will of Jesus instead of their own will.

A believer of Jesus surrenders all to Him, and follows Christ's rules instead of their own self rules.

A believer of Christ surrenders all to Jesus

Without surrendering ALL that one has to Christ, no one is saved.

So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple.   Luke 14:33

A believer of Christ denies self

Denying self is putting the ways of Christ, the will of God, before your ways, before your self will.

Believers of Christ Jesus deny their self will and submit to God's will.

And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.   Luke 14:27

A believer of Christ follows righteousness

All people who follow after lust and the sins of the world, who live in sin purposefully every day are NOT following the ways of Jesus.

God says that His children, those saved by His grace through belief in His Son, Jesus Christ DO NOT SIN.

Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.   In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.  1 John 3:9-10

When we choose to sin, in any way whatsoever, we choose NOT to follow Christ.

That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed.  Romans 9:8

When we choose to sin, God said we are serving sin and that we CANNOT serve Him and serve sin.

Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin. John 8:34

Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.  Romans 6:12

When we choose to sin, we are obeying the lusts of the flesh and serving sin and we are NOT serving Christ.

The children of disobedience, the children of the flesh, who sin without ceasing, are NOT the children of God.

Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?  Romans 6:16

God says that we are servants of whom we obey.  We are servants to unrighteousness when we serve sin, or we are servants to righteousness when we serve Christ.  We either serve sin or Christ Jesus, God says no one can serve both.

For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness.  Romans 6:20

We cannot say that we know God, and serve sin, commit sin on a daily basis, willfully and purposefully sin.

God says that we cannot serve two masters.

No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.  Matthew 6:24

God said it doesn't matter who you say that you are, if you sin and live in unrighteousness you will perish, you will die.  ALL people living in willful sin will NOT receive everlasting life in the kingdom of God, because the wages of sin is death.

No one is exempt from the word of God, ONLY people who become servants to God (not servants to sin) to the end will have everlasting life.

But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting lifeFor the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Romans 6:22-23

Just because a person says that they are a Christian, say that they are saved, or that they know God, does NOT mean that they do.

They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.  Titus 1:16

When we deny Christ by disobedience, Jesus will deny us before God the Father, and we will NOT see the kingdom of Heaven, we will die in our sins.

But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.  Matthew 10:33

Why must I believe in Jesus Christ?

There is no other name in which anyone can be saved from hell.

Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.  Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.  Acts 4:10-12

Salvation is not given by any other name.  Only through Jesus Christ of Nazareth is salvation.

Can anyone believe in Jesus Christ and be saved?

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.  John 3:16

If you were born on this world, YOU can believe and be saved.

Jesus died for ALL the people of the world, whosoever believeth, that includes everyone.

No one in the world is excluded from the love of God.

How do I believe in Jesus?

We believe in Jesus Christ with unwavering faith.

We believe in Jesus Christ all the days of our lives.

Where do I believe in Jesus?

We believe in Jesus Christ with all our heart we believe in Jesus Christ.  Salvation is a heart condition, a renewing of the soul and spirit, a regeneration of the mind.

Must I belong to a church to believe in Jesus?

No, belief in Jesus Christ is inside of you, not inside a building.

You can believe in Jesus Christ without ever stepping one foot inside any church or any building.

So, I don't have to go to church to be a believer of Jesus?  You do not need to physically go to a church or any building to be saved, BUT the word of God reads that ALL people who believe in Jesus will assemble themselves together.

We go to church to fellowship with other believers, which is very important to God.  If it is important to God, that's good enough for me!

And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:  Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.  Hebrews 10:24-25

And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.  Acts 2:42

But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.  1 John 1:7

When can I believe in Jesus?

People receive Jesus Christ into their hearts at many different ages.

Is there a correct age to believe in Jesus Christ?

An infant cannot believe in Jesus Christ because they do not know right from wrong, cannot form complete thoughts, or come to conclusions.

Belief in something or someone is a choice.  You must be able to choose God to be saved.

Believing in Jesus, being saved, is confessing with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believing in your heart that God raised Him from the dead.

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.  Romans 10:9

Since an infant cannot talk, they are unable to confess Jesus is Lord and they are unable to understand that God raised Jesus from the dead, they cannot believe from their heart.

(Yes, of course a child or older person who cannot speak can be saved, because they can choose to be saved, believe in their heart and understand that Christ died on a cross for their sins, God raised Jesus from the dead and was resurrected so that they can have eternal life.)

When a child reaches an age of knowing right from wrong, can form thoughts and come to conclusions, they can believe in Jesus Christ.

A child is very precious to our Lord God.  In fact, the word of God reads that we are all to come to belief and the knowledge of the Lord as a little child.

God said this because children do things all the way, with all their heart, with all their soul, with all their might.  They do not hold anything back.  And that's how God wants us.

Children are sincere and totally committed, with no reservations and pure of heart and love.

We as adults must have total commitment, love, trust and faith with all our hearts, just as a little child.

This is how God wants us ALL to come to Him, wholehearted, nothing wavered, nothing held back, total committed, sincerely with all our heart, and with all our soul and with all our mind and with all our strength.

Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein.   Mark 10:15

Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein.  Luke 18:17

Why as a little child?  A child is totally dependent on other people for their life and that is exactly how God wants all of us to come to Him, us surrendering all to Him.  God wants all our love and all our trust, just as a little child.

Only Christ can give eternal life, we must realize that we are nothing without Him.

We must know that we cannot make it on our own, we must know without a doubt that by our self we are doomed to death, to perish, but with Christ, through believing in Jesus we can receive everlasting life.

We are not to think that we are more than we are.  We are nothing without Christ and we must know this and believe this with all our heart in order to receive salvation.

Is a believer a Christian?

Believers are called CHRISTians, because they believe in the gospel of Christ.

Although many people today call themselves Christians, who do not believe in Christ or the doctrine of Christ or even in the word of God.

As true believers of Christ Jesus as Lord of our lives, we should not get hung up on labeling ourselves.  God is interested in your heart, not what we call ourselves.

God wants us to grow in Christ and to exercise our faith and love, not our denomination name.

Lord Christ Jesus wants to have a relationship with us, not a religion.  No where in the word of God, does God tell us He wants us to have a religion with us.

God is concerned about our heart condition, our relationship with His Son, not which church we belong to or what religion we say that we are.

Some people get so wrapped up in their denomination and their church, that they forget that they are the children of God, and why they have a church to begin with, which is to bring Glory to God and to worship their Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, who set them free from sin and worries of this world.  Church should never be a social club.

The whole reason that we are born, and are born-again, is to bring Glory to God, as His faithful children.

The reason we are here is to bring glory to God as His righteous children.

True believers of Christ Jesus, are the children of God, the children of the Kingdom of God,  the children of the bridechamber, the children of the Highest, the children of Light, the children of the resurrection, the children of the prophets, the children of the covenant, the children of the Living God, the children of Abraham, the children of Promise, the children of the day, the children of the LORD God, the children of our Father in Heaven.

By faith, believing in Christ Jesus as Lord, we are the children of God.

For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.  Galatians 3:26

The children of God put on Christ.

For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.  Galatians 3:27

When we put on Christ Jesus, we are no nationality, no separate race from one another, no separate denomination, no separate religion, not bond nor free, not male or female, when we put on Christ Jesus we are all ONE in Christ Jesus.

There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.  Galatians 3:28

If we are Christ's believers, we are all the same in Christ, we are all Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise of God.

And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.  Galatians 3:29

As believers of Christ Jesus, we become heirs to the promise of the Kingdom of God and the fullness of God, through adoption into the family of God by Jesus, we are adopted sons and daughters of God through Christ Jesus.

And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.  Galatians 4:6-7

Because of Christ Jesus we can cry Abba, our Father and our God.

As believer of Christ Jesus, we know that we are the children of God because we live in righteousness and love, and we love God and we keep His commandments.

In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.  1 John 3:10

By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.  1 John 5:2

I say I'm a Christian, so am I a believer?

Belief in God is from the heart, not the lips.  Calling yourself a Christian, does not make you saved.

Admitting you are a sinner, praying to God for forgiveness of your sins, repenting of your sins, and asking Jesus into your heart to be the Lord and Master of your life, asking honestly and truthfully from your deepest heart, is how one becomes a believer of Christ.

Who are the believers of Christ Jesus?

The word of God gives us descriptions of the believers of Christ Jesus, along with descriptions of non-believers of Christ.

Believers

And believers were the more added to the Lord, multitudes both of men and women.)   Acts 5:14

Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.  1 Timothy 4:12

Believers are people who have chosen to follow Christ, chosen to belong to God through salvation by grace through faith in Christ Jesus.

Believers are the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus, both men and women.

For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.  Galatians 3:26

But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.  Hebrews 10:39

He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. John 3:36

Non-believers

He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.  1 John 5:10

He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.  Mark 16:16

He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.  John 3:18

How many believers are there?

The true believers of Christ Jesus cannot be numbered, as the sand of the sea, which cannot be numbered.

Since GOD created mankind some 6,000 years ago, there have been believers of God.

And thou saidst, I will surely do thee good, and make thy seed as the sand of the sea, which cannot be numbered for multitude.  Genesis 32:12

For though thy people Israel be as the sand of the sea, yet a remnant of them shall return: the consumption decreed shall overflow with righteousness.  Isaiah 10:22

Yet the number of the children of Israel shall be as the sand of the sea, which cannot be measured nor numbered; and it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said unto them, Ye are not my people, there it shall be said unto them, Ye are the sons of the living God.  Hosea 1:10

No one knows the number of the saved, except God.

Esaias also crieth concerning Israel, Though the number of the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea, a remnant shall be saved:  Romans 9:27

Today there is an estimate of over 7 billion people in this world, of which not all even today are believers of Christ and will not see the Kingdom of God.

We know from the word of God that there are multitude of believers in Heaven today with God.

Most of us have loved ones, who are believers and who have died, and are with the Lord God today.

God promises us that one day we will be reunited with those believers, who have passed on to Glory.

What are the other names for believers of Christ Jesus?
