If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;
And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
John 8:31-32 |

on who are believers see - BELIEVER
There are many names given in the word of God for believers of
Christ Jesus.
Now he which stablisheth us with you in Christ,
and hath anointed us, is God;
Who hath also sealed us,
and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts. 2 Corinthians 1:21-22
Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity;
therefore God, even thy God,
hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above
thy fellows. Hebrews 1:9
But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth
in you,
and ye need not that any man teach you:
but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things,
and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you,
ye shall abide in him. 1 John 2:27

And believers were the more added to the Lord,
multitudes
both of men and women.) Acts 5:14

believers,
in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity. 1 Timothy 4:12

saints:
Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus
Christ. Romans 1:7

brethren beloved of the Lord,
because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through
sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth: 2 Thessalonians 2:13
Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved
us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.
1 John 4:10-11
|
Believers are greatly loved, dear to the heart of God -
beloved of God.
Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me,
thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have
believed.
John 20:29
So then they which be of faith are blessed with
faithful Abraham. Galatians 3:9

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:
Ephesians 1:3
|
The faithful children of God are blessed (Proverbs 8:32).
Believers who hope, pray, wait and watch for the return of Jesus are blessed
(Isaiah 30:18; Luke 12:37); blessed are they that hear the word of God and keep
it (Luke 11:38), blessed are they who are not offended in Christ (Luke 7:23;
Matthew 11:6), blessed are they that are hated for Jesus' name sake (Luke 6:22;
Matthew 5:10-11), blessed are thy who seek after righteousness (Psalm 106:3,
119:2; Proverbs 8:34; Matthew 5:6), blessed are the pure in heart and
peacemakers (Matthew 5:8-9), blessed are they that trust in the LORD, and whose
hope is in the LORD (Jeremiah 17:7; Psalm 34:8, 40:4, 84:12), blessed are they
that fear the Lord God and walk in His ways (Psalm 112:1, 115:13, 119:1,
128:1,4).
Jesus answered and said unto him,
Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again,
he cannot see the kingdom of God.
John 3:3
Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. John 3:7
Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of
incorruptible,
by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. 1 Peter 1:23
|
Every person born has the opportunity to be born again.
Scriptures tell us that all people have the choice - free will - to choose to
believe in God. If we believe in God and accept His free gift of salvation
we are born again. Believers are born again.
True believers of Christ Jesus are called "the children of God".
For ye are all the children of God by faith in
Christ Jesus. Galatians 3:26
The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit,
that we are the children of God: Romans 8:16
Blessed are the peacemakers:
for they shall be called the children of God. Matthew 5:9
By this we know that we love the children of God,
when we love God, and keep his commandments. 1 John 5:2
|
Through faith in Christ Jesus to salvation we become the
children of God (Galatians 3:26).

The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom;
but the tares are the children of the wicked one;
Matthew 13:37-38 |
The children of the bridechamber
And Jesus said unto them, Can the children of the

when the bridegroom shall be taken from them,
and then shall they fast.

Luke 6:35 |
The children of Light
For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the
Lord:
walk as children of light: Ephesians 5:8
Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the
day:
we are not of the night, nor of darkness. 1 Thessalonians 5:5
|
The children of the day
Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the
day:
we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
1 Thessalonians 5:5 |

And it shall come to pass,
that in the place where it was said unto them,
Ye are not my people;
there shall they be called the children of the living God.

Know ye therefore that they which are of faith,
the same are the children of Abraham.
Galatians 3:7 |
The children of Promise
Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of
promise.
Galatians 4:28 |
The children of the LORD your God
Ye are the children of the LORD your God:
ye shall not cut yourselves,
nor make any baldness between your eyes for the dead.
Deuteronomy 14:1 |

rain on the just and on the unjust.
Matthew 5:45 |
The sons and daughters of God
But as many as received him,
to them gave he power to
become the sons of God,
even to them that believe on his name:
John 1:12
For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the
sons of God. Romans 8:14
Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet
appear what we shall be:
but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be
like him; for we shall see him as he is.
1 John 3:2
And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for
ye are the temple of the living God;
as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and
walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and
touch not the unclean thing;
and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you,
and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty. 2 Corinthians 6:16-18
|
And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And
it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church,
and taught much people.
And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.
Acts 11:26
Then Agrippa said unto Paul,
Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian.
Acts 26:28
Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be
ashamed;
but let him glorify God on this behalf.
1 Peter 4:16
|
No where in the word of God does it say that the believers of
Christ are to be called Christians. The word of God reads that the
disciples were called Christians. A name or label
does not save anyone. Calling yourself a "Christian" does not grant
anyone eternal life, because only God saves.
The word of God has the word Christian listed only three
times in the KJV, and the word disciple is listed over 250 times.
Jesus never said that His followers, those who believe on Him with
all their heart, with all their soul, and with all their might, are to be called
Christians. He did refer to His followers as disciples.
Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him,
If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;
And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
John 8:31-32 |
The word of God does not state anywhere that the believers of
God are to be called Christians.
The word of God states that the disciples were called
Christians first in Antioch.
Many, many people in the world today wear the label of
"Christian", who do not have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as
Saviour and Lord of
their life.
This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and
honoureth me with their lips;
but their heart is far from me.
Matthew 15:8
They profess that they know God;
but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every
good work reprobate.
Titus 1:16
|
Many people I have asked, if they are a Christian, have said
"Yes", but when I asked when they surrendered all to Jesus Christ as their Lord
and Saviour, they did not know what I was talking about.
Too many people falsely believe just saying the words,
"I am a Christian" saves them. Words do not save anyone.
Salvation is a regeneration of the heart, salvation is internal in our heart,
soul, spirit, and mind.
Salvation is NOT words that we just say with our mouth,
but words we say deep down with our heart.
Salvation is NOT calling yourself a Christian.
Salvation is Christ IN you, Jesus living and abiding inside of you.
Salvation is NOT any religion. Salvation is a
personal relationship with God.
Salvation is a relationship with Jesus Christ
as Lord and Saviour over all of our life.
No one can make themselves a Christian, because only Jesus
Christ can make someone a Christian (Galatians 3:26). The operation of
salvation belongs to God alone. We are made a Christian when Christ abides
inside of us, lives in us and with us, and when we live in Him and through Him
(John 15:4). Jesus said that He knows who are His, because His own hears
His voice and follows Him (John 10:27).

Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and
beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness,
longsuffering;
Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel
against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.
Colossians 3:12-13 |
Believers are the elect of God. The elect of God are
chosen, selected, set apart to God - not because of who we are, or think we are,
not because of what we have done, or think we have done, but because of who we
are in Christ, because Christ made us the elect of God.
O love the LORD, all ye his saints: for the LORD preserveth
the faithful, and plentifully rewardeth the proud doer.
Psalm 31:23
... Be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown
of life. Revelation 2:10
It is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.
1 Corinthians 4:2
These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall
overcome them:
for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.
Revelation 17:14
|
Believers are the faithful in Christ Jesus (Ephesians
1:1). The faithful continue in the faith, remain in the faith, are
steadfast in the faith, hold on to their faith and endure until the end.
Acts 14:22; 1 Corinthians 16:13; Colossians 1:23, 2:7
And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren,
Simon called
Peter, and Andrew his brother,
casting a net into the sea: for they were
fishers.
And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men. Matthew 4:18-19
And he that taketh not his cross,
and followeth after me, is not worthy of
me. Matthew 10:38
Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him
deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
Matthew 16:24
And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also,
he said
unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his
cross, and follow me. Mark 8:34
And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself,
and take up his cross daily, and follow me. Luke 9:23
Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; Ephesians
5:1
|
We all have free will to choose whom we follow. A
follower moves after another on the same course, going along the same path,
taking his steps in faith, dependent on him for direction and guidance.
A follower of Jesus Christ believes the gospel, the doctrine,
the teaching of Christ Jesus. A follower of Jesus imitates Christ. A
follower of Christ believes what He does, thinks like He does, does what He
does.
Heirs of Promise
Believers are called the Heirs of Promise - the
promise of life eternal, heirs of all the promises of God.
Believers are heirs together of the grace of life (1 Peter 3:7).
When be become Christ's - through salvation - we all become heirs
according to the promise (Galatians 3:29).
Wherein God, willing more abundantly to shew unto
the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel,
confirmed it by an oath: Hebrews 6:17 |
How comforting is it that all who are in Christ are called by
God - the heirs of promise.
All the promises of God will be
fulfilled and all believers are the heirs of those promises.
Being heirs we will inherit all things from God.
Believers are called heirs of God and joint-heirs
with Christ (Romans 8:17), heirs of the Kingdom of God (James 2:5)
and heirs of Salvation.
Our adoption by salvation into the family of God makes us
heirs of God, and we are joint-heirs with Christ, enabled to receive all things
from God.
Galatians 3:29; Titus 3:7; Hebrews 1:14
For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any
thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature.
And as many as walk according to this rule, peace be on them, and mercy, and
upon the Israel of God. Galatians 6:15-16 |
The Israel of God are all the children of God, all who are His
own, ransomed by Christ Jesus, and all loved by God. To God there is
neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor
female: for we are all one in Christ Jesus (Galatians 3:28).
God sees two people: those with Christ Jesus and
those without Christ Jesus. To be God's own we must be Christ's own
(1 Corinthians 3:23; John 14:6).
By the grace of God, we are justified by faith in Jesus Christ
our Lord.
That being justified by his grace,
we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life. Titus 3:7
And by him all that believe are justified from all
things,
from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses. Acts 13:39
Being justified freely by his grace
through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood,
to
declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the
forbearance of God;
To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness:
that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus. Romans 3:24-26
Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds
of the law. Romans 3:28
Therefore being justified by faith,
we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand,
and
rejoice in hope of the glory of God. Romans 5:1-2
Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called:
and whom he called, them he also justified:
and whom he justified, them he also glorified. Romans 8:30
Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect?
It is God that justifieth. Romans 8:33
For I know nothing by myself; yet am I not hereby
justified:
but he that judgeth me is the Lord.
1 Corinthians 4:4
And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are
sanctified,
but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus,
and by the Spirit of our God.
1 Corinthians 6:11
|
We are justified by faith in
Jesus Christ, and not by works. No one is justified by works.
No one is justified by the law. God justifies, alone.
Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the
law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ,
even we have believed in Jesus Christ,
that we might be justified by the faith of Christ,
and not by the works of the
law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.
Galatians 2:16 But that no man is justified by the law in the sight
of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.
Galatians 3:11 |
We are all saved - justified - the exact same way - by
the grace of God through faith in God to salvation (Galatians 3:26).
Absolutely nothing that we do can save us. Only God saves men.
The children of God are overcomers, because Christ Jesus
overcame sin and death of the world (John 16:33), so can we. As believers,
we overcome sin and death, through faith in Christ Jesus (Galatians 3:26).
As believers, as the children of God, we can overcome sin and
evil, we can overcome evil with good (Romans 12:21), because God who dwells
within us, has greater power than the evil of this world (1 John 4:4).
The word of God states that we are servants to who we are
overcome; if we are overcome with sin, then we are in bondage to satan; but, if we
are overcome by righteousness, then we are in bondage to God (2 Peter 2:19).
As the children of God, we are all able to overcome the wicked
one, satan, because Christ abides in us, Jesus reigns supreme in our lives, and
through Christ all things are possible (1 John 2:13-14).
Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of
God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten
of him.
By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his
commandments.
For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments
are not grievous. For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory
that overcometh the world, even our faith.
1 John 5:1-4 |
The faithful children of God overcome the world and will eat
of the tree of life in the midst of the paradise of God (Revelation 2:7), shall
NOT be hurt of the second death (Revelation 2:11), will be clothed in white
raiment and will have their name in the Book of Life (Revelation 3:5), will sit
with Christ Jesus in His throne, as He is set down with His Father in His throne
(Revelation 3:32), and shall inherit all things (Revelation 21:7).
He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will
be his God, and he shall be my son.
Revelation 21:7 |
Believers are partakers of Jesus Christ our Lord,
we are partakers of the Lord's table, we are partakers of His promise in Christ
by the gospel (Ephesians 3:6), we are partakers of the sufferings of Christ (2
Corinthians 1:7; 1 Peter 4:13), we are partakers of the inheritance of the
saints in light (Colossians 1:12), partakers of the heavenly calling (Hebrews
3:1),
Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils:
ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of devils. 1 Corinthians 10:21
For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the
beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end; Hebrews 3:14
|
Believers are partakers as we have a part, a share, a portion
shared with Christ in God's Kingdom.
Paul was a great soldier for Christ, and knew who he was, the
prisoner of Jesus Christ. As Paul, we as believers are fellow prisoners in
Christ Jesus.
For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you
Gentiles, Ephesians 3:1
I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye
walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, Ephesians 4:1
Paul, a prisoner of Jesus Christ, and Timothy our brother,
unto Philemon our dearly beloved, and fellowlabourer, Philemon 1:1
Yet for love's sake I rather beseech thee, being such an
one as Paul the aged, and now also a prisoner of Jesus Christ.
Philemon 1:9
There salute thee Epaphras, my fellowprisoner in Christ
Jesus; Philemon 1:23
|
For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by
the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.
Romans 5:10 |
Our sin nature separated us from God. Our natural
state of unbelief set us apart from God. Unbelief separates anyone from
God.
Once we were enmity with God, now we are His family. Romans
8:7, Ephesians 2:15-16, James 4:4, Galatians 3:26.
Salvation reconciled us to God, bought us and brought us into
a friendship, a relationship with God.
Into thine hand I commit my spirit:
thou hast redeemed me, O LORD God of truth.
Psalm 31:5
My lips shall greatly rejoice when I sing unto thee;
and my soul, which thou hast redeemed.
Psalm 71:23
O give thanks unto the LORD, for he is good:
for his mercy endureth for ever.
Let the redeemed of the LORD say so,
whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy; Psalm 107:1-2
No lion shall be there, nor any ravenous beast shall go up
thereon,
it shall not be found there; but the redeemed shall walk there: Isaiah 35:9
But now thus saith the LORD that created thee, O Jacob, and
he that formed thee, O Israel,
Fear not: for I have redeemed thee,
I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine. Isaiah 43:1
Therefore the redeemed of the LORD shall return,
and come with singing unto Zion;
and everlasting joy shall be upon their head:
they shall obtain gladness and joy;
and sorrow and mourning shall flee away.
Isaiah 51:11
And they shall call them, The holy people, The redeemed of the LORD:
and thou shalt be called, Sought out, A city not forsaken.
Isaiah 62:12
Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law,
being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
Galatians 3:13
|
As believers, we are redeemed by Christ Jesus from the curse
of the law, which is sin and death. We are redeemed for a purpose - God's
purpose. As the redeemed of the Lord we should always give thanks to and
sing to the Lord.
Not by works of righteousness which we have done,
but according to his mercy he saved us,
by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
Titus 3:5 |
Believers are regenerated, renewed, through salvation by
Christ Jesus, when we surrender our lives to Him. Daily we are to take up
our cross, follow, obey Christ (Luke 9:23).
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed
by the renewing of your mind,
that ye may prove what is that good, and
acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Romans 12:2
And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in
righteousness and true holiness. Ephesians 4:23-24
And have put on the new man,
which is renewed in knowledge
after the image of him that created him: Colossians 3:10
Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but
according to his mercy he saved us,
by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;
Titus 3:5-6
|
Daily when believers put on Christ, follow Christ, seek
Christ, live the gospel of Christ, our spirit, our mind, our soul is renewed by
the Holy Ghost, through Jesus Christ our Saviour.
Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the
world. And for their sakes I sanctify myself,
that they also might be sanctified through the truth.
John 17:17-19
And now, brethren, I commend you to God,
and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up,
and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified.
Acts 20:32
To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to
light,
and from the power of Satan unto God,
that they may receive forgiveness of sins,
and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.
Acts 26:18
That I should be the minister of Jesus Christ to the
Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God,
that the offering up of the Gentiles
might be acceptable, being sanctified by the Holy Ghost.
Romans 15:16
Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints,
with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord,
both theirs and ours:
1 Corinthians 1:2
And such were some of you: but ye are washed,
but ye are
sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.
1 Corinthians 6:11
By the which will we are sanctified through the offering
of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.
Hebrews 10:10, 14
Jude, the servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James,
to
them that are sanctified by God the Father, and preserved in Jesus
Christ, and called:
Jude 1:1
|
By the grace of God through faith in Christ Jesus we are
saved, we become children of God, we are believers (Galatians 3:26). By the operation of
God we are saved. Through salvation we are justified and by living out
salvation daily in our lives, we are sanctified.
Heal me, O LORD, and I shall be healed; save me, and I
shall be saved: for thou art my praise.
Jeremiah 17:14
As for me, I will call upon God; and the LORD shall save
me.
Psalm 55:16
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be
saved. Romans 10:13
And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou
shalt be saved, and thy house. Acts 16:31
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus,
and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou
shalt be saved. Romans 10:9
Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel,
that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God
raised from the dead,
even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.
This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the
head of the corner.
Neither is there salvation in any other:
for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be
saved.
Acts 4:10-12 |
Believers of Jesus Christ for their salvation are saved
from sin and death (Romans 8:2). The act of faith in Christ Jesus by the
grace of God saves us, and by the grace of God through faith we are the saved in
Christ Jesus.
Happy are you ... O people saved by the LORD!
Deuteronomy 33:29.
We are all believers, the children of God through faith in
Christ Jesus (Galatians 3:26). God makes us His children, no other.
God makes His own saints, no other. The saints of God are both male
and female who are sanctified in Christ Jesus.
Sing unto the LORD, O ye saints of his,
and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness. Psalm 30:4
O love the LORD, all ye his saints:
for the LORD preserveth the faithful,
and plentifully rewardeth the proud doer. Psalm 31:23
For the LORD loveth judgment, and forsaketh not his saints;
they are preserved for ever: but the seed of the wicked shall be cut off.
Psalm 37:28
But the saints of the most High shall take the kingdom,
and possess the kingdom for ever, even for ever and ever. Daniel 7:18
Unto the church of God which is at Corinth,
to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints,
with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both
theirs and ours: 1 Corinthians 1:2
|
The saints of God are all people who belong to God through
accepting His free gift of salvation by faith in Jesus Christ, given freely to all.
But now being made free from sin, and become servants to
God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.
Romans 6:22
As free, and not using your liberty for a cloak of maliciousness, but as the
servants of God.
1 Peter 2:15-16
And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be
gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,
In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves;
if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the
truth;
And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are
taken captive by him at his will. 2 Timothy 2:24-26
|
As servants of God we serve our LORD, not sin (John 8:34).
As servants of God we serve Christ Jesus, not our self (Matthew 16:24).
As servants of God we are separated to God. As servants
of God we are separated to the Gospel of God (Romans 1:1). As
servants of God we live in the truth of God and in the hope of eternal life,
which God promised to all who believe in Him before the world began (Titus
1:1-2).
Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to
obey,
his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience
unto righteousness?
But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin,
but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.
Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.
Romans 6:16-18 |
God says in His Word that we are either servants to sin or
righteousness - one or the other (never both).
Whichever one we yield ourselves to - sin or
righteousness - is the one we obey - the one we serve - the one we are
servants to obey.
Believers were once the servants of sin - but we were
delivered from sin through the salvation of God by believing the doctrine of
Jesus Christ. Jesus made us free from sin and we became the servants of
righteousness (John 8:34-36).
We are the sheep of the Lord God's pasture. God is the
Great Shepherd of His sheep.
Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made
us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Psalm 100:3
So we thy people and sheep of thy pasture will give thee
thanks for ever: we will shew forth thy praise to all generations. Psalm 79:13
For he is our God; and we are the people of his pasture,
and the sheep of his hand. To day if ye will hear his voice, Psalm 95:7
For thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I, even I, will both
search my sheep, and seek them out. As a shepherd seeketh out his flock in the day that he is among his sheep that
are scattered; so will I seek out my sheep, and will deliver them out of all
places where they have been scattered in the cloudy and dark day.
And ye my flock, the flock of my pasture, are men, and I am your God, saith the
Lord GOD. Ezekiel 34:11,12,31
Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto
you, I am the door of the sheep.
I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and
out, and find pasture. I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.
I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine. John 10:7,9,11,14
Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: the
works that I do in my Father's name, they bear witness of me.
But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you.
My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall
any man pluck them out of my hand.
My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck
them out of my Father's hand.
I and my Father are one. John 10:25-30
Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our
Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the
everlasting covenant,
Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is
wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and
ever. Amen. Hebrews 13:20-21 |
These all died in faith, not having received the promises,
but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them,
and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.
Hebrews 11:13 Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and
pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which ware against the
soul; 1 Peter 2:11 |
This is a very good verse to remember, when this world seems
too much to bear remember - this is not our home, this is not our final destination as
children of God - we are strangers and pilgrims here on this earth.
The things going on around us will never make sense, because this is not our
home!
Just as Christ Jesus, we physically live here for the moment,
we are in the world but not of the world.
Know ye not that ye are the temple of God,
and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?
If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy;
for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.
1 Corinthians 3:16-17
And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols?
for ye are the temple of the living God;
as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them;
and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate,
saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing;
and I will receive you,
And will be a Father unto you,
and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty. 2 Corinthians 6:16-18
|
Believers are the temple of the living God.
God dwells in believers, therefore we are to come out from among the wicked and
unclean and be separate from them, and we shall be sons and daughters of the
Lord Almighty.
Son of man, I have made thee a watchman unto the house of
Israel: therefore hear the word at my mouth, and give them warning from me.
Ezekiel 3:17 |
A watchman is guard, alert - watching and waiting to perform
his duties - to sound a warning if an enemy approaches, to prevent those who
come to steal and destroy.
What is the warning from God? Repent from sin
(Acts 26:20) and obtain salvation by Jesus Christ (1 Thessalonians 5:9), because
the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23).
We are to warn everyone we know about the wages of sin, that
living in sin will lead them to death and separation from God for eternity.
We are to share the gospel of Jesus, give them hope and comfort them with the
word of God and share with them that there is a better way of living, or life, through
salvation.
Thy watchmen shall lift up the voice; with
their voice together shall they sing: for they shall see eye to eye,
when the LORD shall bring again Zion. The LORD hath made
bare his holy arm in the eyes of all nations; and all the ends of
the earth shall see the salvation of our God. Isaiah 52:8,
10 |
We are witnesses. Believers are God's Witnesses -
Witnesses that God is all who He says that He is in His Word (Hebrews 11:6).
All the children of God are His witnesses (Isaiah 44:8).
Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my
servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe Me, and
understand that I am He: before Me there was no God formed, neither
shall there be after Me. Isaiah 43:10 And ye
are witnesses of these things. Luke 24:48 |
All believers through the gift of salvation are empowered by
the Holy Ghost to be witnesses of all the things of God that are - that we
believe through receiving the gift of God - of all things in the Word of God.
Ye are witnesses, and God also, how holily and
justly and unblameably we behaved ourselves among you that believe:
As ye know how we exhorted and comforted and charged every one of
you, as a father doth his children, ye would walk worthy of God, who
hath called you unto his kingdom and glory. 1 Thessalonians
2:10-12 |
All believers are called unto God's Kingdom and Glory and are
thereby made witnesses among all that believe. We are witnesses of
the Word of God, witnesses of Jesus, witnesses of the gospel of Christ Jesus
(Acts 10:39), witnesses of the salvation of God that we have received, and
witnesses of the Glory and Kingdom of God.
This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we are all
witnesses. Acts 2:32 |
All believers are witnesses of Jesus - who He is, what He did,
how He lived, how He died, His resurrection, how He was raised from death to
life everlasting, how He is the Lord and Saviour of all mankind, witnesses of
the truth of God and the patient waiting of Christ Jesus' return.
Acts 2:32, 3:15, 5:30-32, 10:39.
All believers are made witnesses for God, for His Son Jesus
Christ, witnesses of God's truth to be witnesses to the uttermost parts of this
world (Acts 1:8).
Only believers those that believe on the Son of God are
witnesses of God - those who do not believe in Jesus are not witnesses of God (1
John 5:10).
Believers today like the apostles of old are filled with the
Holy Spirit to be witnesses of the Great God and the Eternal King Jesus.
??? Not
sure where to go from here ??? May we suggest . . .
