If ye love me, keep my commandments.
John 14:15
Blessed are they that do His commandments,
that they may have right to the tree of life,
and may enter in through the gates unto the city.
Revelation 22:14
Therefore shall ye keep my commandments, and do them:
I
am the LORD.
Leviticus 22:31
Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter:
Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
Ecclesiastes 12:13
Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words:
and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode
with him.
John 14:23

The Ten Commandments are laws which
God gave to all people to live by.
The Ten Commandments are instructions on how we
should live.
Every commandment is relevant to all people today.
God gave the Ten
Commandments to Moses, God wrote them on stone tablets, and Moses gave them to
all the people.
The ten commandments are not from Moses, they
are from God Almighty, "God spake all these words".
And God spake all these words, saying,
I am the LORD thy God,
which have brought thee out of
the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. Exodus 20:1-2 |
- Thou shalt
have NO other gods before me, because the LORD our God is One LORD.
- Thou shalt NOT have,
make, own, serve, or worship any graven images, of anything in the
heavens or in the earth.
- Thou shalt NOT take the
name of the LORD thy God in vain. DO NOT blaspheme.
- Remember the sabbath day
and keep it Holy. Work 6 days and give 1 day to God, because God
worked 6 days when He made this earth and rested on the 7th day.
- Honour thy father and
mother. Respect, cherish, and obey your parents.
- Thou shalt NOT kill.
NO murderer will see God's Kingdom.
- Thou shalt NOT commit
adultery. Lust for another who is not your spouse is adultery.
- Thou shalt NOT steal.
NO thief will see God's Kingdom.
- Thou shalt NOT bear false
witness against thy neighbor. DO NOT lie. Lying is an
abomination to God. NO liar will see the Kingdom of God.
- Thou shalt NOT covet.
Desiring anything that does not belong to you is coveting. We are to be
content with what God gives us and we are to be content in whatever season of
life we are in.
Only through wholehearted, godly repentance can we be
forgiven of these sins against God. Through the gift of salvation, all our
sins are pardoned, forgiven by God Himself, by His grace through faith.
I – Have
no other gods before me
Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
Exodus 20:3
Thou shalt have none other gods before me.
Deuteronomy 5:7
And one of the scribes came, and having heard them
reasoning together,
and perceiving that he had answered them well,
asked him, Which is the first commandment of all?
And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel;
The Lord our God is one Lord:
And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart,
and with all thy
soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first
commandment. And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as
thyself.
There is none other commandment greater than these.
Mark 12:28-31

II – NO Idols - Do not make, have, worship or serve any graven images
Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image,
or any
likeness of any thing that is in heaven above,
or that is in the earth beneath,
or that is in the water under the earth:
Exodus 20:4
Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve
them:
for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God,
visiting the iniquity of the
fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate
me;
Exodus 20:5
Thou shalt not make thee any graven image, or any
likeness of any thing that is in heaven above,
or that is in the earth beneath,
or that is in the waters beneath the earth:
Deuteronomy 5:8
Thou shalt not bow down thyself unto them, nor serve
them:
for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God,
visiting the iniquity of the
fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate
me,
Deuteronomy 5:9
And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me
and keep my commandments.
Deuteronomy 5:10
|
Idolatry is the sin we commit against God when we use idols.
For more information see - NO IDOLS
III – Do not
take the name of the Lord God in vain
Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in
vain;
for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
Exodus 20:7
Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in
vain:
for the LORD will not hold him guiltless
that taketh his name in vain.
Deuteronomy 5:11
|
Blasphemy is the sin against God when we take His Holy name in
vain.
For more information see - DO NOT
BLASPHEME
IV – Keep the sabbath day Holy
Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
Exodus 20:8
Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
Exodus 20:9
But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God:
in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son,
nor thy daughter, thy
manservant, nor thy maidservant,
nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within
thy gates:
Exodus 20:10
For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea,
and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day:
wherefore the LORD blessed
the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
Exodus 20:11
Keep the sabbath day to sanctify it,
as the LORD thy God
hath commanded thee.
Deuteronomy 5:12
Six days thou shalt labour, and do all thy work:
Deuteronomy 5:13
But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God:
in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter,
nor thy
manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thine ox, nor thine ass,
nor any of thy
cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates;
that thy manservant and thy
maidservant may rest as well as thou.
Deuteronomy 5:14
And remember that thou wast a servant in the land of
Egypt,
and that the LORD thy God brought thee out thence through a mighty hand
and by a stretched out arm: therefore the LORD thy God commanded thee to keep
the sabbath day.
Deuteronomy 5:15
|
We are to keep the day of the Lord Holy. God wants us
all to set aside a day to worship Him alone, a day of rest away from our work
routine, a day holy to God, to reflect on who God is and remember all His
wondrous works. A day to refresh our body, our mind, our soul and our spirit.
For more information see - KEEP SABBATH
HOLY
V – Honor
your father and mother
Honour thy father and thy mother:
that thy days
may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
Exodus 20:12 Honour thy father and thy mother, as the LORD thy God
hath commanded thee;
that thy days may be prolonged,
and that it may go well
with thee,
in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee. Deuteronomy 5:16 |
Disrespect toward our parents is the sin against God when we
dishonor them. Our Lord God commands us to honor our parents all the days
of our lives.
For more information see - HONOR PARENTS
VI – Do not
kill
Thou shalt not kill.
Exodus 20:13 Thou shalt not kill.
Deuteronomy 5:17 |
Murder is the sin against God when we kill. God says
when we hate someone we commit murder.
For more information see - DO NOT MURDER
OR HATE
VII – Do not
commit adultery
Thou shalt not commit adultery.
Exodus 20:14 Neither shalt thou commit adultery.
Deuteronomy 5:18 |
Adultery is sin against God. Adultery is when we have sexual relations
with someone other than our legal spouse.
God says that adultery is not just physical sexual relations
with someone other than our legal spouse, but ALSO we commit adultery when we
look at someone lustfully, lust in our hearts, when we lust after anyone this is adultery also
(Matthew 5:28).
For more information see - NO ADULTERY
VIII – Do not
steal
Thou shalt not steal.
Exodus 20:15 Neither shalt thou steal.
Deuteronomy 5:19 |
Theft is sin against God. When we take anything that
doesn't legally belong to us we steal, we are a thief.
For more information see - DO NOT STEAL
IX – Do
not
lie
Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
Exodus 20:16 Neither shalt thou bear false witness against thy
neighbour.
Deuteronomy 5:20 |
Lying is sin against God. Lying is when we bear false witness, lie
to anyone. There are no exceptions for lying, no okay lie, no time when it
is okay to lie. God says that we are not to lie to anyone, at anytime, for
any reason. Just as there are not any little sins, there are not any
little lies. All sin is sin and all lies are lies.
For more information see - DO NOT LIE
X – Do not
covet
Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house,
thou
shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant,
nor his maidservant,
nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.
Exodus 20:17 Neither shalt thou desire thy neighbour's wife,
neither shalt thou covet thy neighbour's house, his field, or his
manservant, or his maidservant, his ox, or his ass, or any thing
that is thy neighbour's. Deuteronomy 5:21 |
Covetousness is sin against God, when we desire that which
does not belong to us.
This is usually the sin before stealing, before becoming a
theft, many people lust after, desire that which does not belong to them.
By obeying and trusting in God, we can avoid the sin of
covetousness, we can avoid coveting. God tells us in His word that we are
to be content with what we have (Hebrews 13:5), what He has given us. God
tells us in His word that we are to be content in all the seasons of our life
(Philippians 4:11). If we trust God, we will be content in Him.
For more information see - DO NOT COVET
God gifted Moses commandments for him to use to teach the
people the laws of God.
In Exodus 24:12 we see that God spoke to Moses,
God asked Moses to come up to Me, God promised
to give Moses a gift that God had written, a
gift for Moses and all people that may be used to teach others.
God gave Moses commandments that the people might DO
them. The commandments God gave to Moses was for the people to
follow, not just learn, but to do them, follow them.
God gave Moses commandments that all people might fear the
Lord God to keep God's statutes and commandments for all the days of our lives,
and that by doing so we could prolong our days, and enter into His rest.
And the LORD said unto Moses,
Come up to me into the
mount, and be there:
and I will give thee tables of stone, and a law,
and
commandments which I have written; that thou mayest teach them.
Exodus 24:12
And the LORD said unto Moses, Write thou these words:
for after the tenor of these words I have made a covenant with thee and with
Israel.
And he was there with the LORD forty days and forty nights;
he did
neither eat bread, nor drink water.
And he wrote upon the tables the words of
the covenant,
the ten commandments.
Exodus 34:27-28
These words the LORD spake unto all your assembly in the
mount out of the midst of the fire,
of the cloud, and of the thick darkness,
with a great voice:
and he added no more. And he wrote them in two tables of
stone, and delivered them unto me.
Deuteronomy 5:22
Now these are the commandments, the statutes,
and the
judgments, which the LORD your God commanded to teach you,
that ye might do them
in the land whither ye go to possess it:
Deuteronomy 6:1
That thou mightest fear the LORD thy God,
to keep all
his statutes and his commandments,
which I command thee,
thou, and thy son, and
thy son's son,
all the days of thy life; and that thy days may be prolonged.
Deuteronomy 6:2
Therefore thou shalt keep the commandments of the LORD
thy God, to walk in his ways, and to fear him.
Deuteronomy 8:6
Beware that thou forget not the LORD thy God,
in not
keeping his commandments, and his judgments,
and his statutes, which I command
thee this day:
Deuteronomy 8:11
|
The commandments were given to all people to show us our sin, so that
we could acknowledge we are sinners, to show us that we need God and need the forgiveness of God.
All the commandments of God were given to all people
because God loves us. God loved His people in the day of Moses,
and God loves His people today. God wants the best for us.
God gave us the 10 commandments and all commandments, because
He loves us and God desires us to be where He created us to be, which is with Him
for all eternity.
God said that His first commandment is the greatest, which
is "The Lord our God is one Lord, and you shall love the Lord thy God with
all your heart, and with all your soul, and with our your mind, and with all you
strength".
And one of the scribes came, and having heard them
reasoning together,
and perceiving that he had answered them well,
asked him, Which is the first commandment of all?
And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel;
Mark 12:28-31 |
God does not and cannot change. God is the same yesterday, today, and
forever (Hebrews 13:8).
And it shall be, if thou do at all forget the LORD thy
God,
and walk after other gods, and serve them, and worship them,
I testify
against you this day that ye shall surely perish.
Deuteronomy 8:19
As the nations which the LORD destroyeth before your
face, so shall ye perish; because ye would not be
obedient unto the voice of the
LORD your God.
Deuteronomy 8:20
|
By breaking one commandment, God says that we are guilty of
breaking all commandments.
For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in
one point, he is guilty of all.
James 2:10 |
We are all guilty of breaking God's commandments. We are
all guilty of sin against God. Then how can any of us be with God? Read on
-
How can we live with God, if we are guilty of sin?
We are all guilty of sin against God. We are all sinners
who need a Saviour. We are all sinners who need forgiveness of our sins.
For all have sinned , and come short of
the glory of God;
Romans 3:23 |
No one is righteous, no one is deserving, no one is worthy of
God's grace and His forgiveness.
As it is written, There is none
righteous, no, not one:
Romans 3:10 |
No person born is free from the effects of sin. All
mankind is born with the stain of sin, because of the sin of the first man Adam.
All mankind needs forgiveness of sin, in order to be
reconciled to God, in order to see God, in order to be with God for all
eternity.
Through faith in Jesus Christ we can receive forgiveness of
our sins and be reconciled to God.
We become the children of God through faith in Christ Jesus
(Galatians 3;26), believing that Jesus alone died for our sins and was raised to
new life, then we will be saved by His life (Romans 5:10).
That whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but
have eternal life.
For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world;
but that the world through Him might be saved. He that believeth in Him is not condemned:
but he that believeth not is condemned already,
because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
John 3:15-18 |
Does God
really expect us to keep all His commandments today?
Many people don't consider lying a real sin
against God, but God tells us NOT to lie, and God says that all
unrighteousness is sin. There is no such thing as a 'little sin'
-
sin is sin.
All unrighteousness is sin:
and there is a sin not
unto death.
1 John 5:17 |
God does not want us to lie to anyone, about anything, at
anytime, because God is truth - He wants all His children to walk in
truth.
Our testimony of love and honor to God is when we walk in truth.
Walking in truth, living without lying, is hard in this world
today. God knows how hard it is, but He still expects truth from His own.
I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in
truth.
3 John 1:4 |
God does NOT want us to sin. When we receive
salvation, through faith in Jesus Christ, we become dead to sin because of
Christ.
Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have
not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.
1 Corinthians 15:34 |
Remember, God will not let us be tempted beyond that which we
are able to overcome. God promises that when we are tempted, HE will make
a way for us to escape the temptation. God promises that we will be able
to bear the temptation and NOT yield to sin, if we trust in Him.
There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to
man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are
able;
but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able
to bear it.
1 Corinthians 10:13 |
We must overcome sin in this world to see the Kingdom of
God. True believers of Christ Jesus overcome sin in this world.
The children of God overcome sin in this world, because Christ Jesus overcame
sin and leads and guides us out of temptation and sin.
Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them:
because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
1 John 4:4
Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that
believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?
1 John 5:5
He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith
unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death.
Revelation 2:11
He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white
raiment;
and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his
name before my Father, and before his angels.
Revelation 3:5
As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous
therefore, and repent.
Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the
door,
I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne,
even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.
Revelation 3:19-21
He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will
be his God, and he shall be my son.
But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and
whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars,
shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which
is the second death.
Revelation 21:7-8
|
We are either overcome by God, or we are overcome by evil.
We are either overcome by sin and by satan, or we are overcome by the
righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ.
Who are you overcome by? Who do you serve?
Are you overcome by good or evil, righteousness or sin, God or
satan? The word of God tells us that whoever we are overcome by
is who we serve (2 Peter 2:19). Do NOT be deceived, if you live in
sin, plan sin, willfully sin, purposefully sin, you are overcome by sin and you
are the servant of sin and of the devil.
Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you,
Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.
John 8:34
He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the
devil sinneth from the beginning.
For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works
of the devil.
1 John 3:8
|
God says that we cannot serve Him and live in sin.
Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils:
ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of devils.
1 Corinthians 10:21 |
As believers, we are the children of the Light, we are no
longer children of disobedience living for sin and disobedient to God (Ephesians
5:1-21).
Let no man deceive you with vain words:
for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of
disobedience. Be not ye therefore partakers with them.
For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as
children of light:
(For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)
Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord. And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove
them.
Ephesians 5:6-11 |
As believers, we are crucified with Christ, we have crucified
sin and death in our bodies (Romans 6).
Sin does NOT have reign over the lives of believers, because
Christ has freed us from the bondage of sin and death.
For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not
under the law, but under grace.
Romans 6:14 |
Being saved does NOT mean we can continue in sin. Many
Christians falsely believe that since they are saved by grace, that it doesn't
matter how they live, because they say that they are saved that they can continue living in sin,
but this is NOT what God says.
What then? shall we sin, because we are not under
the law, but under grace? God forbid.
Romans 6:15 |
The rules of sin are God's rules,
not our rules. Many people living in sin have made up their own
rules of salvation, their own version of the truth. Some people think
that because they think it or say it, that it must be true. Many people
believe that they can change the words of God, but they can't, no one can change
the word of God.
We are NOT saved by our own righteousness, but by the
righteousness of God through faith in Christ Jesus.
The wages of sin is death to
anyone, no one is exempt from the word of God, no one. If
you live in sin (no matter who you say you are) you will die and be
separated from God for eternity. This is the #1 sin rule from God Himself,
and no one is exempt, the wages of sin is death, we will reap what we sow.
From the beginning of this world until its end, God's word will not change -
sin equals eternal death. (Colossians 3:25)
Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to
obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey;
whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
Romans 6:16 |
Some people falsely believe that because they call themselves
a Christian, that they have received a get out of hell free card, no
matter how they live the rest of their lives (Titus 1:16). I have heard
preachers say, that it doesn't matter what you do in your life or how much you
sin "once you are saved that you are always saved", which there is no
biblical reference given, because God never said once saved always saved.
God did say, that His faithful children will inherit His
promises (1 Corinthians 4:2; Revelation 2:10).
God did say, the unbelieving will never see His Kingdom
(Revelation 21:8). Unbelief separates anyone from God for eternity
(Hebrews 3:12, 19).
God did say, not everyone that says, (I'm a Christian) "Lord,
Lord" will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven (Matthew 7:21-23).
But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which
he hath done: and there is no respect of persons.
Colossians 3:25 |
God did say, that He is no respecter of persons (Acts
10:34-35; 2 Chronicles 19:7; Romans 2:11; Ephesians 6:9).
It doesn't matter who you think you are, what matters
is who God says you are. God says that if we "commit sin" that we are the
"servant of sin" (John 8:34), and the "servant of sin" who "committeth sin is of
the devil" (1 John 3:8) and will never see the Kingdom of God (1 Corinthians
6:9-10; Galatians 5:19-21).
God says that whosoever
lives unrighteously is NOT of God.
Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed
remaineth in him:
and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth
not his brother.
1 John 3:9-11 |
You might say, "but everyone sins, so then no one is really
saved?". We are not to willfully sin, sin on purpose, live for
sin, after we are saved.
God has made provisions for His own, God says IF any man sin, when we sin
inadvertently, we are to repent, turn immediately from sin and ask Jesus for His
forgiveness and strength to escape temptation and sin.
My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye
sin not.
And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the
righteous:
1 John 2:1 |
Do not be deceived. If someone
says they are righteous (a Christian) but are living a lifestyle of
unrighteousness, living in sin purposefully and willfully, then they are not
righteous.
Little children, let no man deceive you:
he that doth righteousness is righteous, even as he is
righteous. 1 John 3:7 |
Righteousness is a choice we all make.
We all choose to sin or choose not to sin. By the grace of God through
salvation, the children of God are given power from God, from Jesus, from
the Holy Spirit to reject sin, to turn away from sin, to avoid sin, and
remain righteous and holy before God. James 4:7; 1 Corinthians 10:13
The devil does not have the power to make
anyone sin. The devil can only tempt you to sin, nothing more.
Being tempted of sin is not sin. Sin is not sin until it is acted
upon. When we yield - give in- to the temptation of the devil
to commit sin, then it is sin. The choice to sin comes from
you. The person committing sin is the one who sins against God,
not the devil. One must choose to commit sin. You commit
sin all by yourself. Sin is a choice. You cannot blame your sin
on no one but yourself.
For
more information see - SIN AFTER
We are NOT to sin. God says in His word that
we are to overcome sin, because we are born again believers and have
received the power of God to overcome temptation and sin.
We are to overcome evil with good (Romans 12:21).
We are to follow after righteousness, after God, doing good, not evil (3 John
1:11).
God does not expect us to overcome sin by ourselves, that is
why He gave us faith to believe in Jesus to salvation, and receive His strength
and power.
As the children of the Most High God, we are given power to
overcome temptation and sin.
Jesus overcome the world (John
16:33), and by grace through faith we receive the gift of God, which is salvation,
and we receive the power to overcome sin, because Christ overcame sin and death.
God gives all His children the spirit of power to overcome sin (2 Timothy 1:7).
All power over all things
belongs to God (Matthew 28:18).
Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For
there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.
Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and
they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.
Romans 13:1-2 |
The power of God is the preaching of the cross, Jesus
Christ is the power of God manifest to mankind (1 Corinthians 1:18, 24).
As believers we live by faith, we are the children of God by faith in Jesus
Christ, through salvation we receive the power of God, we stand in faith in
the power of God (1 Corinthians 2:5).
For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ
Jesus.
Galatians 3:26 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is
the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth;
to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
Romans 1:16 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures,
which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in
Christ Jesus.
2 Timothy 3:15 |
The salvation of God is given to anyone through faith in
Christ Jesus.
There is no greater power than the power of God.
The children of God are kept by the power of God, the greatest power, though
faith unto salvation.
Who are kept by the power of God through faith
unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. 1 Peter 1:5 |
The devil currently has limited power, but the power of God is
greater than the devil who is in this world.
Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them:
because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
1 John 4:4 |
God is able to give us power and strength to
overcome all temptation and all sin. We
receive the power of God through faith in Jesus Christ, by salvation (1 Peter
1:5) through the shed blood of Jesus on the cross (Colossians 1:14), because
Jesus died for our sins we can be forgiven of all our sins (Matthew 9:6),
because Jesus rose from death and the grave to live eternal, we too are able to
receive everlasting life in the Kingdom of Heaven (1 Corinthians 6:14).
I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth
me.
Philippians 4:13 |
As the children of God, every second of the day we are
strengthened according to His glorious power (Colossians 1:11).
Some people may say that it is impossible to live today in this wicked world
without sinning, that everyone sins, but this is NOT what God tells us in His
Holy word.
But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this
is impossible; but with God all things are possible.
Matthew 19:26
And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is
impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.
Mark 10:27
For with God nothing shall be impossible.
Luke 1:37
And he said, The things which are impossible with men are
possible with God.
Luke 18:27
|
Faith in God is believing in God, in all that God is, and
believing in all that God says.
We don't physically see God, but we have faith that HE is ALL
that HE says that HE is in His word, this is called faith. Faith is
believing in what you cannot physically see.
We only receive salvation if we believe in God and if we
believe in Jesus Christ.
If we have enough faith to believe that Jesus forgives all our
sins and saves us from hell and death, then we should believe God has the power
to keep us from temptation and sin while we wait for His return.
The foundation of salvation is faith,
without faith no one is saved. Salvation is gifted by God to anyone who
believes that God is God, and that He is all that He says that He is
in His word.
But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he
that cometh to God must believe that he is,
and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
Hebrews 11:6 |
God says that we are to :
- Know His commandments
- Keep ALL of His commandments
- DO His commandments forever
- Do NOT to
add to or take away from any of His commandments
- Keep them close to us, that they are for everyone alive
today
- Teach them to our children, and others
- Write them on our gates
- Talk about
them every day
Regarding His commandments, God says that we are to
hear them, learn them, keep them and do them.
Our LORD God says we should keep His commandments
Therefore shall ye keep my commandments, and do them:
I
am the LORD. Leviticus 22:31 |
Do not add to or take away from the word of
commandments
Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you,
neither shall ye diminish ought from it,
that ye may keep the commandments of
the LORD your God which I command you. Deuteronomy 4:2
|
Saying that the commandments of God
are not for us today, is taking away from them, diminishing them.
The Word of God is the only thing
on this earth that is immortal, everlasting. Our flesh and bone
bodies will die and return to dust, but the Word of God will live forever.
When this whole world is destroyed and gone, the Word of God will still be, as
it is eternal and will exist for all eternity. The eternal Word of God
will all be fulfilled, will never go away, will never die, is forever.
No one has ever been permitted, or will ever be permitted to
take away from or add to the Word of God, as it is God's Word, it
belongs to God and will remain with God forever.
DO perform the ten commandments
And he declared unto you his covenant,
which he
commanded you to perform, even ten commandments;
and he wrote them upon two
tables of stone. Deuteronomy 4:13 Thou shalt keep therefore his statutes, and his
commandments,
which I command thee this day, that it may go well with thee,
and
with thy children after thee,
and that thou mayest prolong thy days upon the
earth,
which the LORD thy God giveth thee, for ever. Deuteronomy 4:40 |
The 10 Commandments are for everyone alive today
And Moses called all Israel, and said unto them,
Hear, O
Israel, the statutes and judgments
which I speak in your ears this day, that ye
may learn them, and keep, and do them.
The LORD our God made a covenant with us in Horeb.
The LORD made not this covenant with our fathers,
but
with us, even us, who are all of us here alive this day.
Deuteronomy 5:1-3 |
The LORD gave us the 10 Commandments
The LORD talked with you face to face in the mount out
of the midst of the fire,
(I stood between the LORD and
you at that time, to shew you the word of the LORD:
for ye were afraid by reason
of the fire, and went not up into the mount;) saying,
I am the LORD thy God, which
brought thee out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.
Deuteronomy 5:4-6 |
Keep the 10 commandments in your heart
And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be
in thine heart:
Deuteronomy 6:6 |
Teach them to your children; talk about them daily.
And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children,
and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house,
and when thou walkest
by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.
Deuteronomy 6:7 |
Keep the 10 commandments close to you
And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand,
and
they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes. Deuteronomy 6:8 |
Write them in your house and gates
And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house,
and on thy gates.
Deuteronomy 6:9 |
Diligently keep the commandments of the LORD
Ye shall diligently keep the commandments of the LORD
your God, and his testimonies, and his statutes,
which he hath commanded thee. Deuteronomy 6:17 |
Keeping the commandments gives us righteousness
And it shall be our righteousness, if we observe to do
all these commandments
before the LORD our God, as he hath commanded us. Deuteronomy 6:25 |
If we love God, we keep His commandments
Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the
faithful God,
which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep
his commandments to a thousand generations; Deuteronomy 7:9 Thou shalt therefore keep the commandments, and the
statutes,
and the judgments, which I command thee this day, to do them.
Deuteronomy 7:11 |
Knowing God's commandments and doing them
are two different matters. Just knowing God's commandments is NOT doing
them.
We are to learn them, keep them, and
do
them.
We know God
And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his
commandments.
1 John 2:3 |
We dwell in God and God dwells in us
And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and
he in him.
And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath
given us.
1 John 3:24 |
The love of God
But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of
God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.
1 John 2:5 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments:
and his commandments are not grievous.
1 John 5:3 |
His loving mercy
And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me,
and keep my commandments. Exodus 20:6 Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the
faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep
his commandments
to a thousand generations; Deuteronomy 7:9 |
Blessings
See, I have set before thee this day life and good, and
death and evil;
In that I command thee this day to love the LORD thy God, to walk in his ways,
and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his judgments, that
thou mayest live and multiply: and the LORD thy God shall bless thee in
the land whither thou goest to possess it.
Deuteronomy 30:15-16 |
Righteousness
And it shall be our righteousness,
if we observe to do
all these commandments
before the LORD our God, as he hath commanded us. Deuteronomy 6:25 |
Long life on earth
Thou shalt keep therefore his statutes, and his
commandments,
which I command thee this day, that it may go well with thee,
and
with thy children after thee,
and that thou mayest prolong thy days upon the
earth,
which the LORD thy God giveth thee, for ever. Deuteronomy 4:40 |
Good understanding
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom:
a good understanding have all they that do his commandments:
his praise endureth for ever.
Psalm 111:10 |
Eternal life; Right to the tree of live; entrance into Heaven
Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may
have right to the tree of life,
and may enter in through the gates into the city.
Revelation 22:14 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he
that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
1 John 2:17 |
Godly respect and fear the LORD thy God
God requires that we all reverently fear the LORD God, keep
all His commandments, walk in His ways, love Him, serve Him, with all our heart
and soul.
And now, Israel, what doth the LORD thy God require of
thee,
but to fear the LORD thy God,
to walk in all his ways, and to love him,
and to serve the LORD thy God
with all thy heart and with all thy soul,
To keep the commandments of the LORD,
and his statutes,
which I command thee this day for thy good? Deuteronomy 10:12-13 |
Believe that God is God; Have faith in God
But without faith it is impossible to please him:
for he that cometh to God must believe that he is,
and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
Hebrews 11:6 |
Love the Lord thy God and keep his commandments.
Therefore thou shalt love the LORD thy God,
and keep his charge, and his statutes,
and his judgments, and his commandments, alway.
Deuteronomy 11:1 |
Keep the commandments to have Strength
Therefore shall ye keep all the commandments
which I
command you this day,
that ye may be strong,
and go in and possess the land,
whither ye go to possess it;
Deuteronomy 11:8 |
Keep God’s Judgments
Ye shall do my judgments,
and keep mine ordinances,
to walk therein:
I am the LORD your God.
Ye shall therefore keep my statutes, and my judgments:
which if a man do,
he shall live in them: I am the LORD.
Leviticus 18:4-5
Ye shall therefore keep my statutes and my judgments,
and shall not commit any of these abominations:
neither any of your own nation,
not any stranger that sojourneth among you:
Leviticus 18:26
Ye shall do no unrighteousness in judgment:
thou shalt
not respect the person of the poor,
nor honour the person of the mighty:
but in
righteousness shalt thou judge thy neighbor.
Leviticus 19:15
Ye shall do no unrighteousness in judgment,
in meteyard,
in weight, or in measure.
Therefore shall ye observe all my statutes,
and all my
judgments and do them: I am the LORD.
Leviticus 19:35,37
Wherefore ye shall do my statutes, and keep my
judgments,
and do them; and ye shall dwell in the land in safety.
Leviticus 25:18
And keep the charge of the LORD thy God, to walk in his
ways,
to keep his statutes, and his commandments, and his judgments, and his
testimonies, and it is written in the law of Moses,
that thou mayest prosper in
all that thou doest,
and whithersoever thou turnest thyself:
1 Kings 2:3
|
The judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.
All the work of the Lord is perfect, all His ways are judgment. Because we
have a God of truth, a just and right God without sin, we can trust His perfect
judgments.
He is the Rock, his work is perfect:
for all his ways
are judgment:
a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he.
Deuteronomy 32:4 The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever:
the
judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.
Psalm 19:9 |
The LORD Loveth Judgment
For the LORD loveth judgment, and forsaketh not his
saints;
they are preserved for ever:
but the seed of the wicked shall be cut
off. Psalm 37:28 |
Simply put, no, the 10 commandments from God, given to Moses,
are not all of God's commandments.
All throughout the word of God, we are given God's
commandments, His laws, His statutes, His precepts.
There were 10 commandments given to Moses from God.
The word of God is full of the commandments of God.
There are other commandments of God besides just the 10 commandments that He
gave Moses. Here we will list a few.
- Believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
- Obtain salvation
- Sin not
- Submit yourselves to God.
- Sanctify God in your hearts.
- Put on charity
- Love everybody.
- Forgive each other.
- Love your enemies.
- Love your spouse, as Christ
- Uplift and cherish each other.
- Love the brethren.
- Live in peace with all people.
- Be fair with one another, do not cheat.
- Obey your government.
- Respect other people.
- Repent of sin.
- Lean not to our own understanding.
- Trust in the LORD God above anyone else.
- Worship God.
- Pray without ceasing.
- Do not swear
- Be thankful
- Be ready and give your testimony
- Seek God's will in everything we do
- Desire spiritual gifts
Believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
And this is his commandment, That we should believe on
the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us
commandment.
1 John 3:23 |
Obtain salvation.
For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but
to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,
1 Thessalonians 5:9 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ
Jesus.
Galatians 3:26 |
Sin not.
Awake to righteousness, and sin not;
for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.
1 Corinthians 15:34 My little children, these things write I unto you, that
ye sin not.
And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the
righteous:
1 John 2:1 |
So what exactly is sin and what is not sin?
God says that all unrighteousness is sin (1 John
5:17). No sin is okay with God. All sin is against God.
Any sin is sin, meaning that "a little sin" is still sin against God. Not
sure if something is sin? God says that we are to abstain from all
appearance of evil. If you think it is sin, don't do it.
Abstain from all appearance of evil.
1 Thessalonians 5:22 |
For

Submit yourselves to God.
Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the
devil, and he will flee from you.
James 4:7 |
Sanctify the Lord God in your hearts
But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and
be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a
reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:
1 Peter 3:15 |
Put on Charity.
Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and
beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness,
longsuffering; And above all these things put on charity,
which is the bond of perfectness. Colossians 3:12, 14 |
As the beloved of God we are to share God's love,
we are to put on and wear God's love every day for the world to
see. We are to put on - wear - God's love - put it on - put on mercy,
kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering, forgiveness, and charity.
Every where we go in and out of our daily routines, work,
school, stores, pumping gas - every where we are - we are to put on
charity, so that others will see Jesus in us, through us,
pouring out of us - so that they may ask us what is the reason for our joy
- and we can share the love of God that we have with them.
Love everybody.
God is love (1 John 4:16). As the children of God, we
are to love one another. God's commandment is that we love one
another. God commands that we love our neighbor as ourselves (Mark 12:31;
Romans 13:9; Matthew 19:19; 22:39; James 2:8)
And this is his commandment,
That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ,
and love one another, as he gave us commandment.
1 John 3:23
Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the
children of thy people,
but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am the LORD.
Leviticus 19:18
For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this;
Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
Galatians 5:14
Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God;
and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. 1 John 4:7-8
And this commandment have we from him, That he who
loveth God love his brother also.
1 John 4:21
A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one
another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.
John 13:34
These things I command you, that ye love one another.
John 15:17
|
For more information see - LOVE
Forgive each other.
And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving
one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.
Ephesians 4:32
For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly
Father will also forgive you:
But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive
your trespasses.
Matthew 6:14-15
Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any
man have a quarrel against any; even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. Colossians
3:13
|
For more information see - FORGIVENESS
Love your enemies.
Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy
neighbour, and hate thine enemy.
But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good
to them that hate you,
and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven:
for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on
the just and on the unjust.
Matthew 5:43-45
But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do
good to them which hate you,
Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you.
Luke 6:27-28
|
God commands that we love our enemies AND that we
pray for them. Many times it may seem impossible to forgive our
enemies and love them and pray for them, but this is what God requires of His
children. Because Christ forgives our sins, we can forgive others, because
Christ loves us, we can love our enemies. Prayer is powerful and can
change the hearts of anyone, even our enemies.
Love your spouse, as Christ.
Wherefore receive ye one another,
as
Christ also received us to
the glory of God. Romans 15:7 Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear
children; And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given
himself for us and offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.
Ephesians 5:1-2
Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved,
bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;
Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel
against any: even as
Christ
forgave you, so also do ye. Colossians 3:12-13 |
Husbands love your wives as Christ.
Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved
the church, and gave himself for it;
Ephesians 5:25
So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies.
He that loveth his wife loveth himself.
Ephesians 5:28
Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against
them.
Colossians 3:19
Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to
knowledge, giving honour unto the wife,
as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life;
that your prayers be not hindered.
1 Peter 3:7
|
God says that marriage is a partnership, as being heirs
together of the grace of life. There is only one Lord and Master in a
marriage, the LORD God Jesus Christ.
Husbands are to love their wives, just as Christ loves His
church. Husbands are to love their wives as much as they love themselves.
Husbands are to honour and cherish their wives.
Husbands are to submit themselves to Christ, to the
righteousness of God. Husbands are not the head of their own life, Christ
is.
Husbands are to follow Christ and place Christ first, above
all else, above themselves.
As Christ loves and guides the husband, then the husband can
love and guide his wife and children, as God desires.
As children of the Most High God, we are subject one to
another (1 Peter 5:5), we are not to think we are better than any other person,
we are not to think more of ourselves than we should (Romans 12:3), not proud,
but humble and loving one another, as Christ loves us.
Wives love and honor your husbands, as to Christ.
Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto
the Lord.
Ephesians 5:22
Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it
is fit in the Lord.
Colossians 3:18
|
Submitting ourselves to the
Lord is always first. Wives are to submit
to their own husbands as unto the Lord, as it is fit in the Lord.
Wives are never to submit to their husbands in any manner that
is contrary to the word of God, that breaks the laws of God.
Uplift and cherish each other.
Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge
this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his
brother's way.
Romans 14:13
Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one
another, envying one another.
Galatians 5:26
Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and
evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:
And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God
for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.
Ephesians 4:31-32
But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day;
lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.
Hebrews 3:13
|
Love the brethren.
We know that we have passed from death unto life, because
we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.
Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath
eternal life abiding in him.
1 John 3:14-15 |
Live in peace with all people.
Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good
comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be
with you.
2 Corinthians 13:11
If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably
with all men.
Romans 12:18
|
Examine yourself; do not judge others
Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove
your own selves.
Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be
reprobates?
2 Corinthians 13:5
Judge not, that ye be not judged.
For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure
ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
Matthew 7:1-2
Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not,
and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven:
Luke 6:37
|
Be fair with one another, do not cheat.
A false balance is abomination to the LORD: but a just
weight is his delight.
Proverbs 11:1
A just weight and balance are the Lord's: all the weights
of the bag are his work.
Proverbs 16:11
Divers weights are an abomination unto the LORD; and a
false balance is not good.
Proverbs 20:23
|
When we cheat others, we cheat ourselves (1 Corinthians 3:18;
2 Timothy 2:13).
Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth
righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
1 John 3:7 |
Rejoice in the Lord; Be joyful; Be happy.
Rejoice evermore.
1 Thessalonians 5:16
But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout
for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be
joyful in thee.
Psalm 5:11
And my soul shall be joyful in the LORD: it shall rejoice in his
salvation.
Psalm 35:9
Make a joyful noise unto God,
all ye lands:
Psalm 66:1
|
In everything give thanks to God
In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in
Christ Jesus concerning you.
1 Thessalonians 5:18 |
Obey your government.
Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's
sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme;
1 Peter 2:13 |
Respect other people.
We are to like all people, no matter who they are. We
must have respect all people the same.
We are not to have regard for someone because they have status
or wealth.
Repent of sin.
The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men
count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should
perish, but that all should come to repentance.
2 Peter 3:9 |
Lean not to our own understanding.
Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto
thine own understanding.
Proverbs 3:5 |
Trust in the LORD God above anyone else.
Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart
before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah.
Psalm 62:8 |
Worship God.
God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him
in spirit and in truth.
John 4:24 |
Pray without ceasing.
Pray without ceasing.
1 Thessalonians 5:17 |
Do NOT swear.
But above all things, my brethren, swear not,
neither by heaven, neither by the earth, neither by any other oath:
but let your yea be yea; and your nay, nay; lest ye fall into
condemnation. James 5:12 |
Be thankful.
And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to
the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.
Colossians 3:15 And whatsoever ye do in word
or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God
and the Father by him. Colossians 3:17 |
Be ready with your testimony
But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and
be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a
reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:
1 Peter 3:15 |
Every believer of Jesus Christ has a testimony. Our
testimony is our reason of the hope that is in us - our salvation - our
redemption - our translation into new life and our hope for the future and hope
for eternal life with God.
Seek God in everything we do
Our prayer to God is that His will be done in our lives,
everyday, in everything that we do. Nothing that the believer does should
be done without prayer to God, for His guidance, for His direction, for His
instruction, for His blessing, for His will to be done, so that all the glory
can be His.
But if from thence thou shalt seek the LORD thy
God, thou shalt fine him, if thou seek him with all thy heart and
with all they soul. Deuteronomy 4:29
Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with
the whole heart. Psalm 119:2 |
Desire spiritual gifts
1 Corinthians 14:1; 14:12; 14:39; 12:1-13;
God gave us His commandments because He loves us
God give us His commandments, His judgments, His rules, His
laws, His precepts, because He loves us. We were created by the
love of God. We were given life because of the love of God. God
loved us before we loved Him. We sinned against God and sentenced
ourselves to death and eternal separation away from God. We sinned against
God, but God still loved us so much that He sent to us a way out of sin and
eternal death.
God gave us His commandments in His word because He loves us.
God's rules were given us, for our good
The instructions to our life given to us by God in His Holy
Word is for our benefit - for us. God is for us - not
against us. God has always been for us and will always be for us.
And now, Israel,
what doth the LORD thy God require of
thee,
but to fear the LORD thy God,
to walk in all his ways, and to love him,
and to serve the LORD thy God
with all thy heart and with all thy soul,
To keep the commandments of the LORD,
and his statutes, which I command thee this day for thy good?
Deuteronomy 10:12-13 |
Every word of God was written for our own good.
Every word of God was written for you and for me, individually for each of us.
Every word of God, every law given, every promise given, was
given to each of us out of God's love for each of us, and is for our own good.
God's commandments were given to us so that we might have
eternal salvation, experience His love, have real joy, have real peace, avoid
heartache, suffering, difficulty, and have an abundant life now, and
forevermore.
God gave us His commandments so we might learn about Him.
We were all given God's commandments in His word so that we
might learn about God and believe that He is God. The entire word of God,
His Holy Bible, was given to all men everywhere so that we might come to the
truth of God, learn the truth about God, receive the knowledge of God, receive
the wisdom of God, receive the revelation of God Himself.
All things were written by God to teach us about God.
Jesus therefore answered and said unto them,
Murmur not among yourselves. No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I
will raise him up at the last day.
It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God.
Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto
me.
John 6:43-45
For whatsoever things were written aforetime were
written for our learning,
that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.
Romans 15:4
But without faith it is impossible to please him:
for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of
them that diligently seek him.
Hebrews 11:6
|
God's commandments were given to us so that we might live.
The word of God and the commandments of God were written by
God, because He loves us so much, for our own good, and because God does not
want anyone to perish, but God wants all people to have eternal life in His
Heavenly Kingdom.
The commandments of God, the laws of God, the word of God was
given to us so that we might live.
But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus
is the Christ, the Son of God;
and that believing ye might have life through his name.
John 20:31 These things have I written unto you that believe on the
name of the Son of God;
that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name
of the Son of God.
1 John 5:13 |
They do NOT know God
People who say they know God but do not keep his commandments
are a liar and the truth, His truth, is not in them.
He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his
commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
1 John 2:4 |
They are cut off from God
Those who forsake God, break God's commandments, God says they will be cut
off from Him.
Because he hath despised the word of the LORD,
and hath broken his commandment,
that soul shall utterly be cut off;
his iniquity shall be upon him. Numbers 15:31 |
Destruction; They will perish; They do NOT have eternal life.
Moreover all these curses shall come upon thee, and shall pursue thee, and
overtake thee, till thou be destroyed; because thou hearkenedst not unto the
voice of the LORD thy God, to keep his commandments and his statutes which he
commanded thee:
Deuteronomy 28:45 But if thine heart turn away, so that thou wilt not hear, but shalt be drawn
away, and worship other gods, and serve them;
I denounce unto you this day, that ye shall surely perish, and that ye shall not
prolong your days upon the land, whither thou passest over Jordan to go to
possess it.
I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before
you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou
and thy seed may live:
Deuteronomy 30:17-19 |
Do not be deceived. Who you serve on this earth is who
you will serve in the world to come.
God is love. God forgives all who love Him, when they
repent, turn from sin to Him.
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive
us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
1 John 1:9 |
If we break one of God's commandments, and we pray to
God and ask His forgiveness and repent of that sin, God
promises to forgive us.
For thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive;
and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee.
Psalm 86:5 |
The key to God's forgiveness is our repentance.
Do not be deceived, without repentance, we
do NOT obtain God's forgiveness.
We receive forgiveness from our sins by the grace of God, when
we repent, turn from our sins.
We certainly do NOT deserve God's forgiveness, but He loves us
so much that He promises to forgive us, when we turn away from our
sins.
God commands us NOT to live in sin. And without a
turning away first from sin, we cannot obtain God's grace.
He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are
judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he.
Deuteronomy 32:4 |
God is Holy. God is without sin and does not condone
sin. God died for our sins and rose from the grave to life eternal, so that we could live
without sin.
Does the sacrifice and death of God mean nothing? Did
God die for our sins in vain? Jesus destroyed sin and death
for us, so that we could be set free from the bondage of sin and
death.
If we are living in the bondage of sin, why did He die?
Jesus died for all the sins of all the people of the world, which
includes you and me, so that we might live.
God cannot bless us when we live in iniquity and sin,
but He can cleanse us and redeem us and forgive us from sin, if we will repent,
if we turn away from sin, God promises to forgive us.
Blessed is he whose
transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. Psalm 32:1 |
God knows what is in our thoughts and what is in
our hearts. God knows all things. Do not be deceived,
nothing is hidden from God.
For his eyes are upon the ways of man, and he seeth all his
goings.
There is no darkness, nor shadow of death, where the workers of iniquity may
hide themselves. Job 34:21-22 For mine eyes are upon all their ways: they are not hid
from my face, neither is their iniquity hid from mine eyes. Jeremiah 16:17 |
God says, that if we have godly sorrow,
sorrow
from deep within our heart, if we turn from our sins, that He
is faithful and just to forgive us of our sins.
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to
forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
1 John 1:9 |
God requires godly sorrow, not like the world repents,
a child of God repents from the heart.
Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having
this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that
nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity. 2 Timothy 2:19 |
The lost world repents every day and commits the same sin
tomorrow. The lost world does NOT cease from sinning. The
lost world doesn't have godly sorrow of repentance. The lost world
is sorry that they were caught, not sorry for sinning against the Lord
God.
For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be
repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death. 2 Corinthians 7:10 |
Repenting of sin, but not turning away from sin is NOT
repentance. Saying you repent of sin and continuing in sin, is NOT
repentance. Repentance is ceasing from sin.
Repentance is turning TO GOD,
FROM SIN. Repentance is turning FROM SIN, TO
GOD. Repentance is turning around, turning from
the path of sin and death, turning in the opposite direction, to
the path of righteousness and life toward God.
When a righteous man turneth away from his righteousness,
and committeth iniquity, and dieth in them; for his iniquity that he hath done
shall he die.
Again, when the wicked man turneth away from his wickedness that he hath
committed,
and doeth that which is lawful and right, he shall save his soul
alive.
Because he considereth, and turneth away from all his transgressions that he
hath committed,
he shall surely live, he shall not die. Ezekiel 18:26-28 Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel,
every one according to his ways, saith the Lord GOD.
Repent, and turn yourselves from all your transgressions;
so iniquity shall not be your ruin.
Cast away from you all your transgressions, whereby ye have transgressed; and
make you a new heart and a new spirit:
for why will ye die, O house of Israel?
For I have no pleasure in the death of him that dieth,
saith the Lord GOD: wherefore turn yourselves, and live ye.
Ezekiel 18:30-32 |
Repentance is leaving sin, abandoning sin, forfeiting
sin, forsaking sin, giving up sin, and turning to God, serving God
instead of sin.
True repentance is turning away from sin.
There is no way around it, if there is NO change, no turning away from
sin, there is NO repentance.
Without leaving sin, abandoning sin in
your life, you have NOT repented. If you are still holding onto
sin in your life, practicing sin, living in sin, performing sin,
you have NOT repented.
It doesn't matter if your sin is murder or your sin
is lying,
all sin is sin in the eyes of God.
God can forgive all types of sin, whether your sin is
murder, or lying, God can forgive any sin that you have committed against
Him, if you:
- confess your sins to God
- ask God for forgiveness of your
sins
- and with godly sorrow truly repent, turn away from your sins
God is no respecter of persons. God sees the
sins of a murderer (who has not repented), and the sins of a liar
(who has not repented) the same. God sees all the sins on all
people who have not repented of their sins.
Wherefore now let the fear of the LORD be upon you;
take heed and do it: for there is no iniquity with the LORD our God,
nor respect of persons, nor taking of gifts. 2 Chronicles 19:7 |
God sees sin on all people who have not
repented. God sees your sins that are NOT repented of.
And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but
now commandeth all men every where to repent: Acts 17:30 |
God commands all people to repent.
Repentance is not a suggestion from God, repentance is a
commandment from God.
God commands ALL people everywhere in the world to
repent of their sins. No one is exempt from repentance of sin.
Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I
perceive that God is no respecter of persons:
But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is
accepted with him. Acts 10:34-35 |
God is NO respecter of persons, who you 'think you
are' doesn't matter to God. God does not see people, as the world sees
them. There is no ranking system with God. The U.S. awards
people with power, money, and stature. The fact is, God says people who
are highly esteemed with men are an abomination to God. (Luke 16:15)
Everyone who sins is a sinner.
Everyone who sins must repent of sin - turn from sin and
turn to GOD - in order to be forgiven by God for their sins.
How do you know if you have truly repented?
If you have turned away from sin, if you have ceased from sinning,
if you have quit practicing sin, if you have quit performing sin
is how you know that you have truly repented.
Without forgiveness there is NO remission of sins by God.
Sin -> repentance -> faith -> forgiveness -> remission -> life
with God.
When we sin we must repent to receive forgiveness
by faith from the grace of God, who gives us remission of sins and
through this process we receive eternal life with God.
Without remissions of sin we cannot see God.
God commands that we must all repent, we must:
- Turn from sin to God
- Turn from darkness to light
- Turn from satan to God
That you may:
- Receive forgiveness of sins by faith through the
grace of God
- Receive inheritance into the Kingdom of God.
To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to
light,
and from the power of Satan unto God,
that they may receive forgiveness of sins,
and inheritance among them
which are sanctified by faith that is in me. Acts 26:18 |
We are all saved by God the exact same way, by His grace
through faith in Him (Ephesians 2:8).
No one is saved by keeping God's commandments, because no one
is saved by works - not of works, lest any man should boast (Ephesians
2:9).
If we could be saved by keeping God's law, then the sacrifice
of Christ was unnecessary.
God's perfect plan for the redemption, the salvation of
mankind, was through remission of sin accomplished through one sacrifice, the
crucifixion, the bodily death and the bodily resurrection of Christ Jesus.
No one has or can be saved by performing works for God, for
all are saved by grace through faith.
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and
that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Ephesians 2:8-9 |
We keep God's commandments because we love Him.
We show God how much we love Him by following His will for our lives and being
obedient to Christ Jesus and His Word.
If ye love me, keep my commandments.
