This is a Bible study on the Crucifixion. Click here for a printable Bible Study Guide.
To the believers of Christ, the preaching of the cross is the power of God. The preaching of the cross is foolishness to the lost, to them that perish.
Crucifixion is defined in the dictionary as extreme and painful punishment. Crucifixion is defined as the act of crucifying, which is to put to death by nailing the hands and feet to a cross. Crucifixion is a cruel and ancient method of execution, used by the Roman Empire, where the victim was tied or nailed to a large wooden cross and left to hang there until dead. Crucifixion was used by many different countries in ancient times. Crucifixion was punishment at its worst. Crucifixion was humanity at its worst. Crucifixion was excruciatingly painful and gruesome death. Crucifixion was a public and humiliating death. Before the victim was nailed to a cross, they were first stripped naked and tied up. Then they were whipped and beaten almost to death. The torturers knew when to stop beating, but they would whip and torture their victims right up to the point of death. Some of the whips would have sharp pieces on the end that would tear open the flesh, rip open flesh, disfiguring the victims. After being beaten, whipped and torture, the victim would be dressed and then made to drag the cross that they would be put on, to the place of execution. The cross was made from a tree and very heavy. Victims were strapped or nailed to the tree, shaped into a cross, and therefore the scriptures say hanged on a tree. Once they reached the place of execution, the victim would be nailed by the hands and feet to the cross. The cross would be lifted upright and the victim would be left to hang and die in pain and agony.
Jesus was crucified at Calvary.
Yes, God said Jesus was crucified on a cross. All throughout the word of God, there are scriptures saying that Jesus was crucified and crucified on a cross.
In ancient times when a person was crucified, they were either tied or nailed to a cross. The word of God reads that Jesus Christ was nailed to a cross. After His crucifixion and burial, Jesus was resurrected from the dead and He appeared to many people. When Jesus appeared to His disciples, they saw the nail prints in His hands and feet. Jesus showed them the nail marks in His hands.
Why a cross, why not a pole, why a cross at all? The cross has more meaning than just two pieces of wood put together. Since the fall of man in the Garden of Eden, sin has been upon humankind. Every person in the world is born into sin. The end result of sin is death. God tells us that the wages of sin is death. No one can escape death. God had a plan to rescue all mankind from death. Jesus Christ was sent from Heaven to earth to become a living sacrifice for ALL the sins of ALL mankind. No other sacrifice was accepted for the sins of mankind, except the sacrifice of God's only begotten Son, Jesus Christ. The cross is where Jesus Christ, the Son of God, was crucified and died, as a sacrifice for the sins of the world. Jesus was resurrected from death to life. Jesus conquered death. Through the resurrection of Jesus we too can be resurrected to life, when we die we can also pass from death to life, as Christ did, if we believe and place our complete trust in Jesus. Without the cross and death of Jesus Christ, we would still be sentenced to death for our sins, without hope. Without the cross we would be without redemption. Without the cross there would not be forgiveness of our sins and we could never see the kingdom of God. Without the cross there would not be salvation for our sins, we could not receive eternal life. Without the cross we would not have access to God the Father.
So, why a cross? The crucifixion of Jesus Christ on the cross was the perfect plan of God. No human being alive has complete knowledge of God. God has revealed to mankind the perfect amount of information. God's ways are not our ways, God's ways are past finding out (Job 9:10; Romans 11:33). There is only One True Living Jehovah God, Lord of all creation, Saviour of all mankind. Man is not God and we are not capable and equipped on this earth to hold the full knowledge of God. This is where faith is applied. The unexplained things of God are accepted through faith in Him. Today we are contented knowing only in part, the part God reveals to us is sufficient for us. One day soon, we will know more about God, when we see Him face to face (1 Corinthians 13:12).
A crucifix is a symbol, a representation of the Lord Christ Jesus on the cross. The promise of salvation is the resurrection of Christ Jesus, the victory over death, the fact that Jesus lives. Christ Jesus died on a cross, but that is NOT where He remained.
Thousands of years ago the dead earthly body of Jesus Christ was taken down from the cross and was buried in a tomb. Three days after the body of Jesus was put in a tomb, God raised Jesus from the dead. The body of Jesus was dead, but then by the power of God, Jesus rose from His grave alive and appeared to multitudes of people. Jesus Christ was resurrected from death and His grave by God.
Jesus is NOT on a cross anymore. As believers we are to believe that He died on a cross, but we are not to remember Him in this way forever. Christ Jesus gave us all detailed specific instruction as to how to remember Him - in what manner God wanted to be remembered and it is not on a cross (Jesus said do this - the Lord's Supper - in remembrance of Me). Christ never wished or asked to be remembered and displayed on a cross, on a crucifix for all time. Jesus Christ is all about LIFE - not death. Do not be deceived. Representing Christ Jesus as still on a cross in the form of a crucifix is wrong and missing why He died for us. Christ died on His cross to set us free from death, Jesus paid the ultimate price to defeat sin and death - Christ removed Himself and all who believe in Him for all eternity as far from death as the east is from the west - and He would never wish us to display His death or anyone's death everywhere. The gospel of Jesus is about His resurrection to new life, not His death. Jesus Christ is alive today, and He is not still hanging on a cross. The disciples and followers of Christ Jesus, at the time He walked this earth and today, celebrate His life, His victory over sin and death, not His bodily death and crucifixion. Jesus Christ died on a cross for the sins of the world, so we might live. Jesus Christ's body was buried and His body rose from the dead on the third day. Jesus is no longer on any cross, but is alive today, living in power and glory in Heaven today, soon to return for His faithful followers. Jesus Christ has power over life and death and if we put our trust and faith in Him, if we believe in Jesus Christ and accept Him into our life as our personal Lord and Saviour, He will give us eternal life, life over death. Jesus Christ was on a cross for only 6 hours, so why have people refused to remove Him from the crosses in their home and in their churches for 2,000 years? Keeping Jesus Christ on a cross is a LIE, because He is risen and He is NOT on any cross and hasn't been for over 2,000 years. Jesus Christ died once on earth for all people and all the sins of the world and He will never die again. The will of God and the purpose of Jesus Christ was fulfilled when He died for the sins of the world AND when Jesus was resurrected to life eternal.
A crucifix is NOT the truth, it is a lieFor anyone to keep Christ Jesus on a cross is a display of a lie, promoting a lie, believing in a lie, any crucifix is NOT THE TRUTH. Yes, Jesus was crucified, but that is past, for He is risen, He is alive!!! The representation of a crucifix keeps Jesus dead, hanging from a tree, which is NOT the truth because JESUS CHRIST IS NOT DEAD - HE IS RISEN !!! Halleluiah !!! Praise the Lord!!!
Yes, Jesus Christ was crucified (past tense), but not for long, HE ROSE from the grave to NEW LIFE, eternal life, and ALL people who believe in Him can have everlasting life also. The message we are to magnify, to proclaim, to uphold is Jesus Christ is risen, Jesus is alive! Jesus is alive for evermore! Death could not hold Him, the cross could not hold Him, He overcame sin and death and the cross and Jesus lives - He lives forevermore!! The children of God celebrate the life of Jesus!
Jesus of Nazareth, HE IS RISEN!!
Jesus was bodily dead but He is alive and lives for evermore, for eternity.
Jesus Christ is the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, and the first and the last.
Jesus endured crucifixion on a cross for all the people of the world, personally for you and for me.
Yes, there is proof that Christ Jesus died on the cross, God's Holy Word affirms His testimony. Even secular historians have confirmed the crucifixion of Jesus Christ of Nazareth.
Everything that ever was, and ever will be, exists for one reason, which is to bring glory to God.
To bring glory to God the FatherSome may think it odd that the brutal crucifixion of Christ Jesus was performed to bring glory to God the Father, but we must remember that the Holy Scriptures cannot be broken, not even by Christ Jesus Himself. We know that all things that we do, are to be done for the glory of God, Jesus is not exempt from this truth of God.
Jesus knew why He was sent to earth. Jesus knew the works that He was sent to do on earth. Jesus knew every minute of every day that He would spend on this earth, before it happened. Jesus did the works of God, so that we might receive eternal life. Jesus not only knew His earthly end on this planet, He performed it, even His crucifixion, because He followed the will of His Father, and because of the joy that was promised Him to follow His suffering on the cross.
Just like Christ, we too are promised to be set at the throne of God, if we endure until the end, if we can hold onto our faith until the end, if we endure the suffering of this short life on this planet, if we can look past our problems of today and look to the joy set before us.
To fulfill the will of GodThe crucifixion of Christ Jesus was prophesied by Christ Himself. We know all scripture is truth and will all be fulfilled (Matthew 5:18, Luke 21:32). There are no exceptions to this truth of God.
Victory over sin and deathJesus was crucified so that sin and death would be destroyed AND we might receive eternal life with Him in the Kingdom of God.
By His crucifixion, Jesus freed us from a life of sin.
Eternal lifeJesus was crucified so that we can live.
Jesus conquered sin and death so that we can live. We are alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.
When we accept Jesus Christ into our heart, to be our personal Lord and Saviour over our life, we turn away from sin by repenting and asking forgiveness of our sins from Jesus. Believers of Christ Jesus do NOT live in sin, we obey God and live in Christ.
When we become a child of God, by believing on His Son, Jesus Christ, sin does NOT have dominion, rule over our lives anymore, because Jesus destroyed death and sin. The children of God live under the grace of God Almighty, NOT under sin.
Jesus is taken to Pontius Pilate the governor.
Jesus is questioned by Pilate.
Jesus accused by chief priests and elders.
The people choose to release Barabbas, instead of Jesus.
Jesus is sentenced to be crucified.
The solders mocked Jesus and gave him a crown of thorns.
Simon carries Jesus' cross.
Jesus is crucified and they cast lots for his clothes.
A sign is placed over Jesus - THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS.
This could be looked at as two questions, Why did Jesus have to die? Why on a cross? Jesus suffered once for sins, being put to death in the flesh, that He might bring us to God.
Jesus had to die because ALL human beings are born into sin and the wages of sin, the penalty for sin, is death.
The life sacrifice of Jesus Christ was the only sacrifice that God would accept for the sins of the world. Man is born into sin. With sin, no man can see God or be with God for eternity. God wanted a sacrifice once for all, a sacrifice for ALL sin for ALL the people of ALL the world for ALL time, God wanted one sacrifice for all people for all time. The sacrifice must be from one without sin, the just for the unjust. The only one worthy for sacrifice of sin for all mankind, was a man without sin, a perfect man. God sent His only begotten Son, Jesus, down from Heaven to this world, sent Him to be in the flesh like us, to be the ultimate sacrifice once for all humankind. Jesus was the only one able to sacrifice Himself for ALL the sins of ALL the people of the world, because Jesus alone was sinless in the flesh. The sacrifice once for all, had to be someone without sin, perfect. Only Jesus Christ was a perfect man, a sinless man. The only sacrifice for mankind, once for all people was the perfect, sinless, Jesus Christ of Nazareth.
One sinless sacrifice for all; Once for allOne sacrifice for all and one-time for all.
Jesus was crucified for the sins of the world
Because of the sin of man, man cannot be with God. Sin is not, and sin will never be in the presence of God. Our sins had to be removed, we must be cleansed of sin before we can be with God.
Jesus was crucified to bring us to God
Jesus came to earth to put away sin
Jesus died to destroy death
To fulfil God's scriptures
For the will of God
Jesus is the sacrifice for all sins forever
When we receive the gift of God, which is salvation, by the grace of God through faith in God, we are saved, we are sanctified and perfected forever through Christ Jesus.
Christ died to show us His loveThe love of God is hereby perceived, because God laid down His life for us. There is no greater love than when one person lays down his life for another, this is perfect love.
God says that there is no greater love than someone dying for another.
We are commanded to love each other as God loves us, and because God loves us.
Jesus gave His own life, to be the sacrifice for all sin. Jesus shed His blood on the cross for the sin of the whole world, that by His ultimate sacrifice,, we might receive eternal life with God.
Jesus' blood was shed for the remission of sins
We are justified by Jesus' blood
Even though we were sinners and still sinning, Christ Jesus died for all the people of the world. Believers of Christ are justified by His blood and we shall be saved through Jesus. As believers we have a connection to God by the death of His Son, Jesus. Being reconciled, connected to God through His Son, we shall be saved by Jesus' life. We are not just saved but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement. Salvation in Christ is joy in God. We are given by God joyful abundant life eternal.
We have redemption through the blood of JesusWe are redeemed through the blood that was shed by Jesus and receive forgiveness of our sins by the grace of God. The price of our salvation was paid by Jesus.
We have forgiveness of sin through the blood of Jesus
The blood of the cross reconciles us
No other way, except through the blood of Jesus Christ, can we be presented to God holy and unblameable and unreproveable in His sight. Everyone sees God the Father the same way, through Jesus Christ, His Son. No one comes to the Father God, except through the God the Son, Jesus Christ.
Through the blood of Jesus we might obtain eternal redemption, eternal life
No remission without shedding of blood
Without Jesus shedding His precious blood at Calvary, we could NOT receive remission from our sins, we would be without any hope of salvation, and we would all perish.
The blood of Jesus is our everlasting covenant
I believe there will be a blood test to enter into the gates of Heaven. Unless the shed blood of Jesus is seen on us we will never enter into the Paradise of God. No one will spend eternal life with Jesus unless we have put on Christ by the washing and renewing of our spirit in His shed blood that He puts on us through faith in Him to salvation.
The word of God reads that "them that perish" do not believe in the preaching of the cross and think it is foolishness.
Only by believing in Jesus Christ, ALL of the doctrine of Christ, we receive eternal life and do not perish. The lost of the world do not believe Jesus died on a cross. Enemies of God, enemies of the cross of Christ, do not believe Jesus died on a cross, their end is destruction, and separation from God Almighty for all eternity.
The lost of the world, who do not believe God is all who He says that He is, who do not believe Christ died on a cross and shed His blood for the sins of all the people of all the world, once for all, hath not God, are not saved, are not the children of God.
People who do NOT believe and abide in the doctrine of Christ, written in the word of God, do NOT have God, are NOT God's children. People who believe and abide in the doctrine of Christ, have both the Father God and God the Son.
God says NO. The word of God is the record of God. The word of God is God's revelation of Himself to humankind. The word of God is the words of God to mankind. The word of God is the record of God given to humankind from God. The word of God reads that we must believe in Jesus Christ to receive eternal life. We must believe in the whole history of Christ Jesus, which is that Jesus was crucified on a cross. To believe in God, to have saving faith in God, we must believe that God is all who He says that He is. Faith is not picking certain parts out of the Holy Word of God to believe, true saving faith in believing ALL that God says in His Holy Word. God gave us His Holy Word that we could come to Him and be saved from sin and death. God's Word is His own revelation to us all about Him. Faith in God is believing ALL that He says that He is in His Holy Words.
Without total belief and total commitment, total faith in Christ Jesus to salvation, no one can see God.
Belief in the Son of God, Jesus Christ, is trusting in all of the words of God, believing ALL of the word of God, and doing the will of God by believing in ALL things God said about His Son, Jesus Christ. God does NOT accept partial belief, partial faith, you either have total belief or no belief, there is no in between, partial faith.
Partial belief in Jesus Christ is unbelief.
People with partial faith, wavering faith, will receive nothing from God, they will NOT receive eternal life.
We cannot have temporary faith and be saved by God, there is NO partial faith, partial faith is unbelief. We either believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, or we don't believe. We are either saved or lost. No one is partially saved, no one is partially lost. We either abide in Christ and are saved by His blood, or we abide in unbelief and are NOT saved by His blood. We are either saved or NOT saved. We either have eternal life or eternal death. We cannot be a little saved. No one is halfway saved, partial saved or almost saved. We either are practicing faith, or we are practicing unbelief. We are either living in faith, or living without faith. God said Jesus Christ was crucified on a cross. The word of God reads that the preaching of the cross is the power of God to us who are saved. The word of God reads that the preaching of the cross is foolishness to them that perish.
People who do NOT believe in the preaching of the cross, that Jesus Christ was crucified on a cross, are people who will perish. People who believe in the preaching of the cross, believe without a doubt that Jesus Christ was crucified on a cross, believe it is the power of God and are saved.
Some people say that they believe Jesus was crucified on a cross and died, but do NOT believe in the resurrection of Christ Jesus. The word of God, God says we must believe in the bodily resurrection of Jesus in order to inherit the Kingdom of God. All people who come to God, come to God by believing in all that He says He is (Hebrew 11:6). God does NOT give His free gift of salvation to partial believers. To believe in Jesus Christ is to believe in all of the word of God, NOT just parts of His word. There is NO partial salvation. No one is a little bit saved. We have complete and total salvation by believing totally and completely in all the word of God and history of Jesus Christ.
The word of God reads that we must believe in our heart that God raised Jesus from the dead, we shall be saved.
We must believe in the complete body and spirit resurrection of Jesus Christ in order to be saved.
What if Jesus never died? What if Jesus never sacrificed himself for the world upon a tree? What if Jesus never died on a cross? If Jesus never died on a cross, what would that mean to the people of the world?
By His stripes we are healedBy His stripes we are healed, and by His death on His cross we can receive eternal life and victory over sin and death.
Jesus' blood was required for our atonementThrough faith in Jesus' blood, that He shed on His cross for our sins, we receive remission and forgiveness of our sins and sanctification, justification, redemption, atonement, reconciliation to God, and receive the salvation of our souls (Romans 3:22-26; Colossians 1:14).
When Jesus died on His cross all He came to do on this earth was finished, He gave up the ghost and He went to His Father in Heaven.
Jesus said "It is finished", His work on this earth was completed, and then He "gave up the ghost". The moment, the second, the instant when Jesus died on the cross, He was with His Father God in Heaven. When Jesus' earthly bodied died on the cross, the Spirit of Jesus was immediately in Heaven, in the presence of His Father God. And we also know, just like Jesus, the instant, the moment we die our spirit too will be present with our Lord God, because the word of God tells us to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.
When we die our spirit is separated from our body. Our flesh and bones body remains dead and on earth until the return of Christ to resurrect our bodies. The flesh and bones of Christ were no more, they were dead, but the Spirit and Soul and Mind of Christ Jesus lives forever and did NOT perish. The moment that we die, just like Christ Jesus, we pass from death to life, in that instant, because we are promised eternal life through faith in God. When the children of God die here on earth, we too will depart from our flesh and bones body, AND our spirit and our soul and our mind will be in the presence of God immediately when we die. The very instant believers of Christ die, our soul and our spirit and our mind separate from our earthly, flesh and bones bodies, just as it happened with Jesus Christ, and we are in the presence of our Lord God. Our earthly body will die and be buried. Our earthly body will decay and the flesh on our bones will decay. Our flesh and bones body is not our spirit, is not our soul. Our earthly body form will not be with us until the day of Judgment, when Jesus Christ will transform and resurrect the bodies of the children of God.
Jesus said into the hands of God He commend His spirit, when He died. Jesus knew that He would die that day and at that very moment and He told the man that was crucified next to him, because that man believed, that he too would be with Him at the throne of God that very same day, when he died. The Spirit of Jesus has never died. The body, the flesh and bones, the earthy body of Christ died and was raised in three days by the power of God. God cannot die. God manifested in the flesh, the earthly, flesh body of Jesus died, but the Spirit of Jesus did not die. The Spirit of Jesus has always existed. Jesus was before the world began. The Spirit of Jesus will exist for evermore, for eternity. The Spirit of Jesus is without end. The moment Jesus' body died, He was in the loving arms of His Father, our Father God. Where is Paradise? Paradise is Heaven in the midst of the Paradise of God, the Kingdom of God. There is one Kingdom of God, His Heaven, His Paradise.
The tree of Life and the throne of God, and the throne of Christ Jesus are in Heaven, in the Kingdom of God.
On the cross the work of Christ was finished - He was not needed anywhere else as everything was "finished" - He went to the Paradise of God, the Kingdom of God, to be with His Father in Heaven. There are false teachers and false prophets in the world today that pervert and change the word of God to match their false doctrine. The word of God reads that the moment when Jesus died He was immediately in the presence of God the Father. The word of God reads that when Jesus died, that moment He gave up the ghost, that the Spirit of Jesus separated from His earthly body and He was in the hands of the Father. Remember, like Jesus our earthly bodies will die one day, but our spirit is eternal, our soul never dies. The moment we die, like Jesus, those who are of God will be with God the instant we take our last breath here our very next breath will be with our LORD. The day that Christ Jesus died in the flesh on the cross, He was in the Paradise of God, He was in Heaven; He was in the Kingdom of God, in the hands of God the Father.
Where can Jesus go? God can go anywhere He wishes. There are no limits to God. God can be anywhere He wishes to be. God can be everywhere at once. God has no boundaries or limitations. Space, time, gravity, nothing can contain God, He is boundless, limitless, timeless. For the dead, there is only Heaven and Hell, there is NOT a midway point, a stopping off point to wait, no third destination. God says ALL PEOPLE will be in Heaven or Hell, NO other place. Since the beginning of time, since the beginning of the world, with the first two people of earth, Adam and Eve, there was evil trying to change the word of God. And until the Lord Jesus returns, there will always be people changing the word of God, twisting the word of God to conform with their own beliefs.
When Jesus said "it is finished" on His cross before His spirit left His body, He was saying all the work that He was sent to earth to do was finished. The work that Jesus had finished on His cross was nailing sin and death to His cross. Jesus sacrificed His flesh, His body, His life as atonement for our sins, your sins, all the sins of all the people of all the world. That work was what was finished on His cross.
The purpose of Christ Jesus on the earth was finished. Jesus came to earth to be the Saviour of the world, by His death and His resurrection, so that we might live. It is finished, all that Christ Jesus worked toward His whole earthly life was finished, completed, fulfilled in that moment. The works of Jesus were completed when Jesus said "it is finished".
The works of Jesus, that He was sent to do on this earth, were finished, completed forever. Through His earthly death on the cross, the work of Jesus was completed. The will of God was fulfilled through His Son, the work of God through His Son was finished. By Christ offering Himself, laying down His life once and for all and for all of us, giving Himself as a living sacrifice, by the death sacrifice of Jesus, the sins of the world could be forgiven once and for all by God, and for all people who believe and trust in God. It is finished, the pathway to God was established for evermore. The bridge from death to life was laid down for us, through the death of Christ Jesus. No one took His life from Him, Jesus gave His life freely for us all. Jesus offered His life, so that we could have eternal life with the Father God. Sacrifices for sin and death was finished with Christ Jesus. By the death of Jesus Christ sacrifices for sin was finished. Jesus was the end of the law for sacrifice for sin. Jesus died once for all sin and once for all people of the world.
Jesus did away with all other sacrifices. No other sacrifice would please God, except His only begotten Son.
The sacrifice of Jesus Christ was the only sacrifice acceptable by God the Father for all the sins of all the people of the world, and Christ's one sacrifice for sins forever.
By the grace of God, through faith in Jesus Christ as Lord of our life, we receive forgiveness of all our sins, remission of sins. Through Jesus Christ our sins are forgiven sins are remembered no more, and no more offering is required.
By the blood of Jesus shed on the cross, through His flesh He consecrated us.
The word of God said Jesus rose from the grave three days after His death.
So where was Jesus during those three days? The word of God reads that Jesus is in Heaven with His Father.
It was finished on the cross by Christ Jesus, nothing was left to do.
The Spirit of Jesus Christ was immediately with His Father God in Heaven the moment His earthly body died. All believers of Christ Jesus are promised by God to be with God the instant our spirit separated from our flesh upon death.
Absent from the body, present with the Lord is promised by God for all people, who place their trust and faith in Christ Jesus to salvation. So why three days in the grave? Why did Christ need to wait three days before He rose from His grave? How did Christ raise from the grave, if He already rose to Heaven? Legally and prophetically three days in the grave was established. Three days was the accepted time period of that time to know that someone has truly died. Three days was prophesied by Christ, and therefore had to be three days to fulfill prophesy. Jesus rose from the grace and fulfilled prophesy. Jesus was able to be seen in a heavenly body form on earth because He is Christ. Jesus Christ's earthly flesh body was transformed after three days in the grave, and was shown to multitudes of people on the earth. Jesus Christ rose from the grave in a new body. The body Jesus had after His death on the cross, was completely different than the flesh, human body He had before His resurrection. After we die our earthly bodies will be transformed from a corruptible, dying decaying fleshly body, into a heavenly incorruptible body that will live forever, for eternity. God promises us a new heavenly body, just as Christ received His new heavenly body. After His resurrection from His grave, Jesus Christ walked on the earth and spoke with multitudes of people in body form. The earthly body of Jesus Christ was not in His grave after three day, because He had risen from the grave. His earthly body was transformed. The people who saw Him, knew Him, so He looked the same, but different. The earthly body of Jesus Christ was not in His grave because He was using it, not His old body, but His new heavenly transformed body. No one could find the body of Jesus because Jesus was resurrected into new life. Jesus' body was transformed and He had His body. When we die we, our spirit will be immediately with our Lord, but our earthly bodies will remain here on earth in our graves, until Jesus Christ comes and resurrects all believers of Him, both dead and alive.
When will our earthly bodies be resurrected? The scriptures tell us all that no one knows when this will occur, but it is promised by God that He will return for all of His own (John 14:3) and He says it could happen any day. God is coming soon for His own (Revelation 22:20). Are you ready?
For more information see - CAUGHT UP
When Jesus Christ returns for His own, the bodies of all the dead believers of Christ will rise first to meet Him in the air, then those who are still alive and believe will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord, our bodies transformed, in the air AND so shall we ever be with the Lord. Our earthly bodies will be transformed immediately into heavenly bodies, glorious like the heavenly body of Christ Jesus, the saints bodies will be reunited with their spirit and soul AND we will be with our Lord God forever.
As believers of Christ we too have victory over death through Jesus our Lord and Saviour.
Only those who are born again through Jesus Christ our Lord will inherit the kingdom of God, by the word of God which liveth and abideth forever.
How many times did Jesus die for our sins? Jesus died once. Jesus can die no more. Jesus died one-time only for the sins of the world and Jesus will never die again. Jesus lives and reigns for evermore in the Kingdom of God.
Jesus died once as a sacrifice for the sins of the world. Jesus died once as payment of all the sins of all the people of the world.
There are people in this would who say they bring Christ back alive, in order to kill him as a sacrifice for their sins over and over. The word of God reads that only Jesus can forgive sin because He sacrificed Himself for sin and destroyed death. Christ Jesus died once for the sins of the world. God said once was enough for all. One perfect offering was all that was needed to wash away the sins of the whole world.
After Jesus, no other sacrifice is needed for sin. Jesus' life is the only sacrifice that God would accept for the sins of the world, and God accepted His sacrifice once and for all time.
No other person in this world can take away sin, only Jesus Christ, the Son of God can forgive our sins. No priest can forgive anyone's sin.
After Jesus offered Himself as one sacrifice for the sins of the world forever, after it was finished, Jesus sat down on the right hand of God in Heaven, to reign in the Kingdom of God for eternity.
There is only one name by which any person can be saved, the name of Jesus Christ. There is only one mediator between humankind and God, only one advocator between man and God, who is Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
No, God says Jesus will never die again. Jesus can die NO MORE.
Christ died once for all and was raised from the dead and will die no more. Christ Jesus died once for sin, but He lives and He lives unto God. Jesus cannot die ever again, because He destroyed death and sin, He has power over life and death. By His own blood, shed on a cross at Calvary, Jesus obtained eternal redemption for all the world who would believe on His name.
No one is in the grave of Jesus Christ, because His body was fully resurrected. Jesus has possession of His own earthly body, which has been fully transformed into His Heavenly body, that is attached to His Soul, His Spirit, His Mind, His Heart, forevermore.
When we die, our human bodies are usually placed in a grave. After we die our earthly bodies, our flesh and bones, are in our earthly graves. Our earthly flesh remains in our earthly grave, to decay and return to dust (Genesis 3:19; Job 10:9; Ecclesiastes 3:20). If we are believers of Christ Jesus, when we die, we are promised by God, that our bodies will be resurrected one day, just like Christ Jesus' body was. If we are believers of Christ Jesus when we die here on earth, our spirit goes immediately to our Lord God in Heaven, and will be with Him forevermore.
The body of Jesus is with Jesus, along with His Spirit and His Soul and His mind. Jesus has always been completely whole and is now completely whole. When we die and see Jesus face to face, we will see Him complete with a body and spirit, just as when He walked the earth, but with His heavenly body. Jesus does NOT have human flesh anymore, and neither will we in Heaven, because human flesh cannot enter Heaven (1 Corinthians 15:50). Human flesh is mortal, corruptible and temporal. Human flesh is not capable to exist for eternity. Our human, flesh and bones, bodies will be replaced with heavenly bodies, that will be able to exist forever. God promises that we shall all be changed (1 Corinthians 15:51-54). Our earthly flesh and bones bodies will be fashioned, changed, transformed, remade like Jesus' glorious body, we will receive a heavenly body that will be able to exist for all eternity. ALL the children of God will be given new bodies that will never die. Our earthly bodies will be transformed into incorruptible bodies, because our earthly corruptible bodies cannot live for eternity. In a split second, in a twinkling of the eye, our bodies will be changed, be transformed into incorruptible bodies that will live for eternity, just as Jesus' body was transformed from a corruptible body earthly body into a glorious heavenly incorruptible body.
God says that our earthly bodies must be changed because an earthly decaying dying body cannot inherit the kingdom of God.
Jesus Christ will change our earthly vile bodies into a heavenly body, like His. Our earthly bodies will be fashioned like His glorious body.
God is able to do anything. With God all things are possible (Matthew 19:26; Mark 10:27). God has ALL power over the heavens and earth (Matthew 28:18). God has power over ALL things. God has all power to do all things. God will change our corruptible earthly bodies into incorruptible heavenly bodies in the twinkling of an eye, in an instant.
Are you a doubting Thomas too? Thomas, one of Jesus' own disciples, doubted the resurrection of Jesus. After He rose from the dead, Jesus appeared to His disciples, but Thomas was not with them. When Thomas returned, the disciples told Thomas that Jesus appeared to them, but Thomas did not believe them.
The next time Jesus appeared to His disciples, Thomas was with them.
Faith is believing in that which you cannot see, cannot touch. We are to believe in Jesus Christ and the gospel of Christ and the doctrine of God without seeing Him.
Faith is believing in the evidence of things that you have not seen. To receive the free gift of God, which is salvation, we must all step out in faith, and believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God, who was crucified and died on a cross for the sins of the world, who was buried but rose from the grave and who lives for ever more in the Kingdom of God. And by believing in Jesus, we too should not perish but receive eternal life.
There is no such thing as doubting faith. Either you believe in faith, or you don't. Partial belief is unbelief. Partial faith is not faith. Our belief and faith in Jesus must be unwavering, without any doubt.
Faith is not something you have one day and don't have the next, meaning you can't have faith when you go to church and no faith when you go to work. You can't believe in Jesus at church, and not believe in Him at work. God calls such back and forth belief, faith one day but not the next, as being double minded. God says a double minded man is unstable in all his ways and will receive NOTHING from the Lord.
No one can have partial faith. Partial faith is unbelief. You either have faith or you don't. You either live in faith, or you don't and live without faith in unbelief. Partial faith is non-existent, is not faith. Yes, Jesus really came back to life after His earthly body died. Jesus was raised up from the dead.
Christ being raised from the dead, can die no more.
Jesus both died and rose from His grave.
Jesus was crucified on a cross, died on His cross, buried in a grave, and He rose from the grave, from death to life on the third day after His death.
God raised Jesus from the dead.
Jesus and His raised body was seen alive by many people, and affirmed by many people to be alive, by many infallible proofs.
Jesus Christ is He that liveth and was dead, and Jesus is alive for evermore.
Jesus conquered death, not for His own body, but Jesus conquered death for mankind, for all the people of this world, that whosoever believes in Him, believes He died for your sins on His cross, believes that He was buried in a grave, and believes He rose from His grave to new life in a new body, and believes that He lives forevermore, if you believe in all of Jesus, then you too can receive everlasting life (John 3:16).
Jesus Christ is Body, Soul, Mind and Spirit with God the Father forevermore. Jesus Christ abides in the heart of every faithful believer. Jesus Christ is completely and fully with God the Father, as He has always been. Jesus Christ sits on the right hand side of God in Heaven. The Spirit of Christ lives inside the children of God. The Spirit of Christ dwells inside believers. The Spirit of Truth is the Spirit of Jesus Christ. The Spirit of Christ is the Spirit of God, they are one.
How is it possible for Jesus to be with the Father and with us, dwell in us, abide in us, all at the same time? Because with God nothing is impossible (Luke 1:37). With men it is impossible, but not with God because with God all things are possible (Mark 10:27).
For the joy set before us - which is our eternal life with God - we endure all things in Christ. For the joy set before us, we can endure suffering. For the eternal glory of God, we can endure the cross. Because of our salvation, given to us who are unworthy, we can endure the cross. Because we owe all we have to Christ, we can endure all things. Because nothing can be compared to the glory of God, which is the joy set before us.
This is one of my favorite scriptures and has so much meaning. As believers, we follow Christ Jesus and look to Him as our example of how we are to live our lives, and how we are to endure the cross. This one scripture answers so many questions. How are we to live? Looking unto Jesus. By keeping our eyes on Jesus we will not fall into sin. By looking to Jesus for all our needs they will be met. By focusing on Jesus we will be blessed. By looking unto Jesus we will do the will of God. Who is Jesus? Jesus is the author and finisher of our faith. What a beautiful way to describe Jesus. Our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, the Son of God, is the author and finisher of our faith. Jesus is our beginning and end. Jesus is our faith. Jesus is the beginning and the end, the Alpha and Omega, the first and the last of ALL things, including our most precious gift from Him, our faith. How can we endure? Who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross. Jesus endured the cross, all the pain and all the shame, because HE KNEW the joy that was set before Him, He knew what was at the end of His suffering, His Father God and the Kingdom of Heaven. This is how we too endure all things in Christ, because we too know what is at the end of our journey, our Prince, our King of Kings, our Lord of Lords, our Saviour, our Lord God. This earthly life is temporal, not eternal. Nothing can compare to the joy that is set before us in our eternity Kingdom with our Lord God.
"Looking unto Jesus", we are to be like Christ Jesus. When we think we just cannot endure another day, we must realize this life we know is not our real life, this earth we call home is not our real home, our home is Heaven with our Father God and our real life is eternal life in the Kingdom of God. We must focus not on today, our trials and sorrows, but on the joy that is set before us when we inherit the kingdom of God for eternity. I will endure until the end and receive my promise, and nothing this world or the devil throws at us will keep me from God.
Do we just accept evil done to us? Despising the shame. Just as our Lord Jesus despised the shame of being crucified on a cross, we do not have to like what people do to us, or the bad things that happen to us, we can also despise the shame of what happens to us. But we cannot lose our focus on God, no matter what is happening to us. What happens to our outside, cannot effect our inside. We are not to fear what man can do to us on the outside, because they are unable to steal our salvation that we have inside our heart, that we have in Jesus. It has happened, but I doubt that anyone of us will ever be crucified on a cross for believing in Jesus. I doubt that nothing we go through in our little lives can compare to what Jesus, our Lord, went through on that cross, that day He allowed Himself to be crucified. We must keep our prospective about our lives. The pain and horror we believe we face is nothing compared to what Jesus saw. We must find our strength in Christ, we must persevere because Christ never gave up. We must look at the big picture. Look toward the end of this life and a new beginning, a new life in the kingdom of God for eternity. Nothing in this life, compares to what lies ahead for the believers of Christ Jesus in the eternal Kingdom of GOD.
Where is Jesus today? And is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. Jesus Christ, the Son of God, is set down at the right hand of the throne of God, today, right now, and forevermore. Jesus is at the throne of God, the very same throne of God that we the faithful in Christ Jesus will see one day. Jesus is at the throne of God, the very same throne where we will bow down and worship for eternity our Lord God Almighty. Jesus is at the throne of God, the very same throne where we, as believers of Christ Jesus will receive our crown of life, and then will cast our crowns at the feet of our Blessed Redeemer, our Saviour, our Prince of Peace, our Everlasting Lord God. Praise the Lord God Almighty!!! Halleluiah !!
What does it mean to take up our cross? What is our cross to bear?
Jesus tell us if we are to be saved, we must come after Jesus. Salvation is a choice every human being must make before they die. Jesus is waiting on people to come after Him. Right now, this minute, Jesus is waiting on people to come after Him. Jesus is waiting on people to accept Him into their heart as their own personal Lord and Saviour over their lives. Jesus says if we will come after Him, that we will deny ourselves. Denying ourselves means to surrender ALL to Jesus. Denying ourselves is placing the will of God first in our lives, placing God before all else in our lives. Jesus becomes number one in our lives, NOT ourselves. We pledge to put Jesus above everything in our lives, including ourselves. There can be only one ruler, one master in your life, Jesus Christ. You cannot serve sin and serve the Lord Jesus at the same time, you must make a choice who to serve. Jesus says if we will come after Him, we will take up our cross. Just as Christ did, we must also take up our cross. We must follow the gospel of Christ, obey the word of God, no matter what the cost, no matter what we must endure. The moment we accept Jesus Christ into our lives we are guaranteed eternal life AND suffering. The things of this world will all disappear one day, nothing of this world will be left. Nothing on this planet is worth losing our soul for (Matthew 16:26; Mark 8:36; Luke 9:25). We must give up these earthly things for the one truth of God, Christ Jesus. Jesus says if we will come after Him, we will follow Him all the days of our lives (Luke 1:75), not for one day, but for all the days of our lives, forevermore. Salvation is not a temporary commitment. Salvation is for eternity. Salvation is an eternal commitment to remain faithful to Christ Jesus. Salvation is a partnership with Christ. When we are saved, by grace through faith, we partner our life with Christ's, He is the Master and we become His servant. Our partnership is to proclaim His gospel, and live out His Word. If we will come after Jesus Christ, we will deny ourselves, we will take up our cross and we will follow Him. Salvation is a choice we all make to follow God's ways, and to abandon our own ways. We choose to follow God. Salvation is a choice every human being must choose for themselves. No one can receive the salvation of God for you, you must receive your own salvation from God. You cannot be saved by another's salvation, you must have your own salvation to enter into the presence of God when you die. You must have a personal relationship with Jesus to enter into the Kingdom of Heaven. The gift of salvation is not forced on anyone by God. God doesn't make us take His gift of salvation, we are all given free will to choose. God desires that all people everywhere obtain His salvation, but He will never force anyone to accept salvation (1 Thessalonians 5:9). God sets before all people - life and death - God says choose life! (Deuteronomy 30:19). We all have the same choice - eternal life OR eternal death. Living by faith, or living without faith. Living in Christ, or living out away from Christ. Practicing faith, or practicing sin. Abiding in Christ, or abiding in death. Following Christ, or following death (Romans 6:23).
Whosoever includes everyone in the world. Whosoever means any person, man, woman, child or adult. Whosoever means you and me. Whosoever means ALL people, no matter who you think you are, or no matter what you have done in the past. Whosoever means all races of all people. All people that want to follow Christ Jesus will first deny themselves, AND then they will take up their own cross, and then they will follow Jesus. Whosoever will come after me, to come after Jesus is to receive eternal life.
What shall I do that I may inherit eternal life? This was the question asked, before Jesus answered, deny yourself, take up your cross and follow me.
In this scripture, Jesus says we must be willing to give up everything (we think) we own in order to inherit the Kingdom of God. We must give ALL to Christ. We must deny ALL to follow Christ Jesus. We must surrender ALL of our self and ALL of our possession to follow Christ Jesus. Our commitment to Christ must be complete surrender. I surrender ALL, is what we must say to Jesus. We must surrender our life to Christ Jesus, nothing less will do. Notice the beginning of this scripture, Jesus beholding him loved him. Jesus looks the same way at us, He beholds us and loves us. Jesus sees you, Jesus beholds you and Jesus loves you. Jesus loves us ALL. Jesus does not want anyone to perish, but His will is all people everywhere shall be saved. This is why He died for us, so we would not have to die, and that we could receive His everlasting life and be with Him for all eternity in His Glory.
Jesus was not just speaking to His disciples of that day, He is saying to ALL people everywhere, then and today, If any person will come after Jesus, let them deny themselves, AND take up their cross DAILY AND follow Christ. Can I "be saved" and "NOT bear my cross"?
We do not bear His cross in order to receive salvation, but we bear the cross of Jesus because of salvation. Following Christ Jesus is the result of salvation, not the cause of salvation. The word of God states that obedience is the product of salvation, not the cause of salvation. Salvation is the free gift of God, by His grace alone through faith in Christ Jesus.
Salvation is surrendering ALL to Christ Jesus. We must be worthy to see God. Only by the washing of ourselves with the blood of Christ Jesus will we be worthy to see God. Salvation reconciles us to God, makes us worthy to see God through faith in Christ. By accepting Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Saviour over ALL aspects of our lives, we can be washed in the blood of Jesus, and receive the gift of God, which is salvation and eternal life.
On the day of Judgment, if God does not see the blood of Jesus Christ on us, which we receive through salvation, we will NOT enter the gates of Heaven.
For all who have received the gift of life, eternal salvation by faith in Christ Jesus, the end of this mortal life is not the end of us but the beginning, the very beginning of new life with Jesus forevermore. The crucifixion of Jesus was NOT the end of Jesus. Jesus was resurrected into life everlasting. HE IS RISEN !!! Jesus is alive for evermore !!! ??? Not sure where to go from here ??? May we suggest . . .
