This is a Bible study on Eternal Life. Click here for a printable Bible Study Guide.
Eternal means having infinite duration. Life is the quality that distinguishes a vital and functional being from a dead body; therefore, Eternal Life is having infinite life, everlasting life. Never ending life, living without end is eternal life, immortality. Passing from death to life is eternal life (John 5:24).
Our life in this world, in our body of flesh, is temporary, salvation is eternal life.
If by faith we place our hope and trust, believe in Christ Jesus for the salvation of our souls, then we shall never die. By faith in Jesus we will pass from our earthly life to an eternal life in the Kingdom of God.
The Word of God describes eternal life in Christ Jesus. Eternal life is the gift of God, Jesus Christ, the salvation of God, given to all people, anyone who comes to God in faith that He is all He says that He is, and that He alone can save them. Eternal life can only be found through salvation, by becoming a child of God through faith and fellowship with Christ Jesus. We can only have eternal life through Christ Jesus. Without accepting God's truth you are without Christ and you are without eternal life.
Special Note: God alone is eternal. God has always existed infinitely. Only God is eternal. We can receive eternal life after we believe in Jesus for our salvation, but we had a beginning, when we were born. Mankind can receive eternal life through salvation, but we have a beginning. God always existed, God always was, God is without beginning and without end, therefore making Him the only eternal God that ever was or that ever will be. Jesus is the only eternal Son of God, as Jesus was the Son of God before He came down to earth to be born in the image of mankind. Jesus God the Son always existed with God the Father. The Holy Spirit always existed with God the Father and God the Son. The Godhead, the One true eternal God has always existed and these three are One - God the Father, God the Son, and the Holy Ghost.
Every person will receive eternity. There is an Eternity for everyone. Every person has a choice --
Everlasting punishment is promised by God to all who chose not to believe in God. Eternal life is promised by God to all who chose to believe in Him.
Eternal life is promised to the righteous, which are all people who through faith chose to believe in God and received the gift of God by His grace through faith in Christ Jesus. Eternal life, spending eternity with God, is only for those who choose Christ Jesus as their Lord and Saviour.
Only by faith in Christ Jesus can we become the children of God. Salvation is received the same way by all who receive it. We are all saved the exact same way, by the grace of God through faith in Christ Jesus, and there is no other way.
What is your choice? Eternal death or eternal life?
What a good question, this same question was asked of Jesus, "What good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?".
There is only one way to inherit Eternal Life with God and that is through faith in Jesus Christ. We must surrender our life to Christ to receive eternal life in Him.
We see throughout the Scriptures that eternal life is passing from death to life eternal with God.
We see clearly in the Holy Word of God that eternal life is only received through faith in Jesus Christ, without the Son (Jesus) there is eternal death separated from God for all eternity. We are all receive eternal life the exact same way, by the grace of God through faith in God (Ephesians 2;8), there is no other way. Salvation is eternal life with God for eternity. Without salvation we are condemned to be separated from God for all eternity.
Jesus is the Lamb of God and believers are His sheep. All who answer His call, come to Him, follow Him, all who hear the voice of God and receive His gift of salvation and follow Jesus are His sheep, His own, and to them, to believers of Christ Jesus, Jesus will give them eternal life. All people who by faith believe in Jesus as their Saviour and Lord, to them all Jesus will give eternal life. Without faith in Christ Jesus no one receives eternal life (Galatians 3:26).
Eternal life is received through the Son of God, Jesus Christ. Salvation through Christ Jesus is the perfect plan of God. Salvation is only received through faith in Christ Jesus, there is no other way to the Kingdom of God, there is no other way to receive redemption for sin, except through the blood of Jesus. We are all saved the exact same way, through faith in Christ Jesus, we are all adopted into the family of God the exact same way - through faith in Christ Jesus.
God doesn't count our race, or our nationality, or whether we are male or female, or whether we are 9 or 109, or whether we are free or a slave, or a prisoner, or president or laborer, all believers of Christ Jesus are the same to God, we are ALL one in Christ Jesus.
Special Note: Sheep never leave their shepherd, because they know if they do that they will be devoured, killed and destroyed. Sheep follow their shepherd without knowing where they will end or where they are going. This is the type of relationship we are to have with our Great Shepherd. Jesus as our Shepherd loves us and keeps us safe, but we must follow Him. Jesus says, "My sheep hear My voice, and they follow Me". Jesus didn't say, "My sheep can follow Me or not it really doesn't matter". When we follow our own path, we are not following Jesus, and forfeit His watch care over us. We choose to depart or stay. We choose to live by our own rules, or we choose to abide in Christ, follow His direction for our lives. If we choose to depart from God, we forfeit all His gifts and His promises.
All who call on the name of Jesus will be saved. All people who choose to accept the free gift of God by faith in His Son, Jesus Christ, receives the salvation of God. By the grace of God through faith in Jesus Christ we are all saved from sin and eternal death. All who believe in Jesus Christ for the saving of their souls, believe Jesus can forgive their sins and make them whole, believe that through Jesus is life eternal, can be saved. No one is saved if they do not believe. Believing in Jesus Christ for salvation is the only way to receive eternal life. Eternal life is through believing, without believing no one can be saved. Unbelief, not believing in Jesus Christ for salvation, is the only thing that keeps people out of the Kingdom of God. The gift of God is not restricted to certain people. The gift of God, salvation from sin and death, is offered to all people who believe, who place their trust and faith in Him for their salvation.
God freely gives His salvation to:
Salvation is simple, all anyone must do is: believe, ask, confess and receive: Believe Jesus Christ is Lord and can forgive all your sins and give you eternal life, ask Jesus into your heart to be your Lord and Saviour, confess and repent of sin (1 John 1:9; Romans 10:10), and receive the salvation of God.
Believe in Jesus
Jesus holds the words of eternal life
Jesus gives us eternal life.
Jesus is our hope of eternal life.
Jesus the author of eternal salvation.
Eternal life is in Jesus.
Love God, live separate from the world.
Believe in Jesus and receive eternal life.
Eternal Life is the gift of God through Jesus.
By faith we are to hold onto eternal life.
Salvation in Jesus with eternal glory.
Eternal Life was promised before the world began.
Where will all believers of Christ Jesus spend Eternal Life?
Eternal Life is in the heavens. Will we spend eternal life here on earth? No, because God says this world will pass away. This earth will pass away. We do not know what the new earth will look like, but God promises to create a new earth.
Everything that we can see now, here on earth, will be destroyed by the hand of God. No one but God knows what heaven is like. Eternal Life will be spent in the world to come.
Eternal life is in the midst of the paradise of God.
There is only one God and only one Kingdom of God, which is the paradise of God.
Do not be deceived. Traditions of men want to bring God down to earth, down to their level, and say that this earth is the paradise of God, or the Kingdom of God. The truth is that God desires to bring us all up to Himself, to His Kingdom, to His Paradise, to His Heaven, to the Heaven above the heavens, where He exists. Scripture is full of versus where people of God went up to God. Scripture tells us that one day soon, Jesus will come down from Heaven and we will ascend up to meet Him in the air, up to Heaven, where we will be forever with the Lord God.
God says with fervent heat this earth will be burned up, dissolved, melted away.
So if the heavens shall pass away what happens to God, isn't He in the heavens? God exists in the heaven of heavens. When God created the earth He created the firmament, the sky, the heavens we can see and the heaven of heavens, which we cannot see. God lives in the heaven above the heavens, the heaven of heavens.
The word of God tells about three heavens. The first heavens is the sky that we can see above the earth, and the second heavens is the universe of planets and stars beyond that we can see through high powered telescopes, and the third Heaven is the Heaven where God lives, the Paradise of God, the Kingdom of God (2 Corinthians 12:2-4).
God lives in eternity
Eternal damnation is reserved for ALL who forsake God, this includes the devil, which is satan, and all the angels that forsake God to follow satan out of Heaven, and ALL the people of this world who have chosen to forsaken God. Everyone who does not hold onto their salvation from God, by holding onto their faith in Christ Jesus, will never enter the gates of Heaven, will be separated from God for all eternity. All who blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness. To enter the gates of Heaven you must obtain forgiveness through faith in Christ Jesus, the Son of God and receive the gift of God, salvation of your soul.

Is it possible to receive eternal life, the salvation of God, after we die here on earth? The word of God reads that no one that dies without salvation can receive eternal life after they die. The word of God states that the choice to have faith in God to salvation must be made while we are alive. Jesus said "whosoever liveth and believeth in Me shall never die" (John 11:26). The choice of salvation is for "whosoever liveth" and not for those who have already passed from this life. When we take our last breath on this earth, at that very moment, in that split second, we receive the eternity that we chose when we were alive - either everlasting life by faith in Christ Jesus to salvation - or eternal damnation through our unbelief. No one will be gifted the choice of salvation after death. The gift of God, eternal salvation is offered to us while we are alive, not after we die. No one has or ever will be offered the gift of salvation after death. Prayers for the dead to receive salvation is unbiblical and never sanctioned by God. The Scriptures are very clear on this fact. This is why it is so important to answer God's call to salvation today. Today if ye hear His voice, harden not your heart (Psalm 95:7-8; Hebrews 3:7-8; 3:15; 4:7).
God promises that whosoever believes in Him shall receive everlasting life (John 3:16). Whosoever - all people - who believe in Him for the salvation of their souls - are promised to receive eternal life. Our eternal life is received by us when we die in faith. We must hold on to our faith in God all the days of our lives, because without faith we are condemned. Unbelief separates anyone from God for eternity. Faith in God for salvation is required for eternal life, without faith no one can please God. The promise of eternal life is received when we profess our faith in Christ Jesus as our Lord and Saviour, by believing that God is all who He says that He is, and by living in faith to God, separated from the world. Faith to salvation has a beginning, a middle, and an end. Faith begins when we activate it by accepting God's free gift of salvation (John 3:16) . We become the children of God through faith in Christ Jesus (Galatians 3:26), this is the beginning of our faith in Christ Jesus. Faith is lived out in the lives of all believers of Jesus. The just shall live by faith (Romans 1:17; Galatians 3:11; Hebrews 10:38). The just shall walk by faith (2 Corinthians 5:7). That faith received from the beginning of salvation remains in us (1 John 2:24-25). Christ dwells in the hearts of the faithful by faith (Ephesians 3:17). Without living faith we are without Christ. Faith grows and continues to be walked out in our daily lives, every day. Our journey in this life is to be by faith in Jesus Christ. We are to grow in our faith though our relationship with Christ Jesus. If we hold onto our faith we become overcomers of this world through Christ Jesus. Faith ends with the salvation of our souls when we see Jesus face to face. If we remain in Christ, abiding in Jesus, walking every day by faith, then we will have confidence in the end at Jesus' coming (1 John 2:28), and will receive the end of our faith, which is the salvation of our souls.
??? Not sure where to go from here ??? May we suggest . . .
