The book of the generation of JESUS Christ,
the son of David, the son of Abraham.
Abraham begat Isaac;
and Isaac begat Jacob;
and Jacob begat Judas and his brethren;
And Judas begat Phares and Zara of Thamar;
and Phares begat Esrom;
and Esrom begat Aram;
And Aram begat Aminadab;
and Aminadab begat Naasson;
and Naasson begat Salmon;
And Salmon begat Booz of Rachab;
and Booz begat Obed of Ruth;
and Obed begat Jesse;
And Jesse begat David the king;
and David the king begat Solomon
of her that had been the wife of Urias;
And Solomon begat Roboam;
and Roboam begat Abia;

And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary,
of whom was born JESUS, who is called Christ.
Matthew 1:1-16 |
It is important to note that Jesus was begat by God
Himself, not Joseph and not Mary. Mary was the host, the vessel that
carried baby Jesus, any doctrine contrary is unfounded. Jesus was
conceived by the Holy Ghost, no one else had part in the conception of Jesus,
but the Holy Ghost.
The only begotten Son of God is Christ Jesus.
This truth must be in our hearts if we are to receive eternal life.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only
begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but
have everlasting life.
For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but
that the world through him might be saved.
He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not
is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of
the only begotten Son of God.
John 3:16-18 |
Hath not the scripture said, That Christ cometh of the seed
of David, and out of the town of Bethlehem, where David was?
John 7:42 (Which he had promised afore by his prophets in the holy
scriptures,)
Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David
according to the flesh;
And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of
holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:
By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among
all nations, for his name:
Among whom are ye also the called of Jesus Christ:
Romans 1:2-6
Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the
dead according to my gospel:
2 Timothy 2:8 |
The importance of Jesus being the seed of David is to fulfill
prophecy of the prophets of God of the Old Testament.
Today there seems to be a lack of importance placed on keeping
a promise, a lack of character in regards to keeping one's word. And I
believe more so in America, than the rest of the world. Our children are
not being taught the value of keeping one's word. We are flooded with
songs, television and news prints regarding self glorification at any cost,
lying and bragging about it. Our courts are full of broken promises and
lies. Telling the truth, being obligated to your own word, following
through with verbal promises are a thing of the past.
In my Dad's day, when he ran his business, his word was his
bond. He made many business deals with a handshake, a written contract was
not necessary. How the world has changed. Everything must be in a
written contract, and even then there are legal loopholes that an unscrupulous
person can protest.
God is the only one who fulfills all of His promises.
Man will eventually fail you, but God never will. Every prophecy in the
word of God will be fulfilled. God is the only one who can claim 100%
absolute accuracy to fulfilling prophecy.
For verily I say unto you,
Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the
law, till all be fulfilled.
Matthew 5:18 |
The spoken word of God, written down for us in the form of His
Holy Bible, our revelation of God, which He chose to share with us, is His
promise to us, to love us and not to lie to us, to keep all the promises of God
which He had written down for us, so that we would know the depth of His love.
O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge
of God!
how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!
Romans 11:33 |
The importance of Jesus being the seed of David is to show the
genealogical line of succession. Here in America, most times who your
ancestors is generally no big deal. But in most countries around the
world, you ancestors play a big role in who you are, like Prince William.
In Old Testament days, massive areas of land were owned only
by successors of the family line. Your inheritance was completely based on
who your parents were. Today we here in America do not own kingdoms of
land, like in some parts of this world. Our inheritance may be nothing.
Jesus came to earth to confirm the promises of God the
Father.
The lineage of Jesus from the seed of David fulfills the
prophecies of God and confirms the promises of God the Father.
Now I say that Jesus Christ was a minister of the
circumcision for the truth of God, to confirm the promises made unto the fathers:
And that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy; as it is written,
For this cause I will confess to thee among the Gentiles, and sing unto thy
name.
Romans 15:8-9 For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him
Amen, unto the glory of God by us.
2 Corinthians 1:20 And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and
heirs according to the promise.
Galatians 3:29 |
Believers, we are Abraham's seed because we are Christ's
and we are heirs to the Kingdom of God according to the promise of God.
Jesus' earthly parents.
Joseph and Mary.
And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary,
of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.
Matthew 1:16 |
Conceived of the Holy Ghost.
Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise:
When as his mother Mary was
espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the
Holy Ghost.
Matthew 1:18 |
Born of a virgin and called
JESUS.
Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a
public example, was minded to put her away privily.
But while he thought on these things, behold,
the Lord appeared unto him in a
dream, saying, Joseph,
thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy
wife:
for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.
And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS:
for he
shall save his people from their sins.
Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled
which was spoken of the Lord
by the prophet, saying,
Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son,
and they
shall call his name Emmanuel,
which being interpreted is, God with us.
Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord
had bidden him,
and took unto him his wife:
And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son:
and he called his
name JESUS.
Matthew 1:19-25 |

Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary,
the brother of James, and Joses,
and of Juda, and Simon?
and are not his sisters here with us? and thy were
offended at him.

Galatians 1:19 And it came to pass, that when Jesus had finished these
parables,
he departed thence.
And when he was come into his own country,
he taught them in their synagogue,
insomuch that they were astonished, and said,
Whence hath this man his wisdom, and these mighty works?
Is not this the carpenter's son? is not his mother called Mary?
and his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas?
And his sisters, are thy not all with us?
Whence then hath this man all these things?
And they were offended in him.
But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour,
save in his own country, and in his own house.
And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief.
Matthew 13:53-58 Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary,
the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon?
and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him.
Mark 6:3 |
Then one said unto him,
Behold, thy mother and thy brethren stand without,
desiring to speak with thee.
But he answered and said unto him that told him,
Who is my mother? and who are my brethren?
And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said,
Behold my mother and my brethren!
For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven,
the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.
Matthew 12:46-50 For whosoever shall do the will of God,
the same is my brother, and my sister, and mother.
Mark 3:35 |
Now there stood by the cross of Jesus
his mother,
and his mother's sister, Mary the wife of Cleophas,
and Mary Magdalene.
John 19:25 |
Mary - the mother of Jesus
And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary,

behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou
son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife:
for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.
Matthew 1:20 And when they were come into the house,
they saw the young child with Mary his mother,
and fell down, and worshipped him:
and when they had opened their treasures,
they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh.

and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon

And they were offended at him.

Mary the mother of Joses beheld where he was laid.
Mark 15:47 And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel
was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth,
To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph,
of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary.
And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail,
thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee:
blessed art thou among women.
And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying,
and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be.
And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou has found favour with God.
And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son,
and shalt call his name JESUS.
He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest:
and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:
And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever:
and of his kingdom there shall be no end.
Then said Mary unto the angel,
How can this be, seeing I know not a man?
And the angel answered and said unto her,
The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee,
and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee:
therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee
shall be called the Son of God.
And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth,
she hath also conceived a son in her old age:
and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren.
For with God nothing shall be impossible.
And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord;
be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.
And Mary arose in those days, and went into the hill
country with haste, into a city of Juda;
Luke 1:26-39 And it came to pass, that when Elisabeth heard the
salutation of Mary, babe leaped in her womb;
and Elisabeth was filled with the
