What is the 7th commandment of the 10 commandments?

Thou shalt not commit adultery is a Bible Study on the 7th commandment of the 10 commandments spoken of in Exodus 20.

7 - Do not commit adultery.

Thou shalt not commit adultery. Exodus 20:14

Neither shalt thou commit adultery. Deuteronomy 5:18

Ye have heard that is was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: Matthew 5:27

What is adultery?

Adultery is voluntary sexual contact between you and someone other than your spouse. Adultery is breaking your marriage vow.

God defines adultery even further. God says if you lust after a person you have committed adultery.

Lusting is Adultery.

But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hat committed adultery with her already in his heart. Matthew 5:28

Why should we NOT commit adultery?

Adultery destroys your soul.

But whoso committeth adultery with a woman lacketh understanding: he that doeth it destroyeth his own soul. Proverbs 6:32

Love the Lord thy God and keep his commandments.

Therefore thou shalt keep the commandments of the LORD thy God, to walk in his ways, and to fear him. Deuteronomy 8:6

Therefore thou shalt love the LORD thy God, and keep his charge, and his statutes, and his judgments, and his commandments, alway. Deuteronomy 11:1

Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations; Deuteronomy 7:9
