This is a Bible Study on the 9th commandment of
the 10 commandments spoken of in Exodus 20.

Liars bring confusion
|
A false witness that speaketh lies,
and he that
soweth discord among brethren.

The devil is the father of lies
|

|
The wicked are estranged from the womb:

7 things the LORD hates
|
These six things doth the
LORD hate:
yea, seven are an abomination unto him:
A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations,
feet that be swift in running to mischief,
A false witness that speaketh lies,
and he that soweth discord among brethren.
My son, keep thy father's commandment,
and forsake not the law of thy mother:
Bind them continually upon thine heart,
and tie them about thy neck.
When thou goest, it shall lead thee;
when thou sleepest, it shall keep thee;
and when thou awakest, it shall talk with thee.
For the commandment is a lamp;

Don't listen to lies
|
If a ruler hearken to lies, all his servants are wicked.
Proverbs 29:12 And they bend their tongues like their bow for lies:

for they proceed from evil to evil, and they know

Jeremiah 9:3 And they deceive every one his neighbour,
and will not speak the truth:

In the end days of the world, many will lie

Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith,
giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy;

Speaking lies is departing from the faith of God.
God is the only one who cannot lie

In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;

We can't walk in darkness, if we know God
|
If we say that we have fellowship with him,
and walk in darkness, we lie, and
do not the truth: 1 John 1:6 I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth,
but because ye
know it, and that no lie is of the truth.

Believers know the truth and abide in God
|
But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in
you,
and ye need not that any man teach you:
but as the same anointing teacheth
you of all things,
and is truth, and is no lie,
and even as it hath taught you,

Liars names are not in the book of life
|
And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that
defileth,
neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie:
but they
which are written in the Lamb's book of life. Revelation 21:27 Blessed are they that do his commandments,
that they may have right to the tree of life,
and may enter in through the gates into the city.
For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers and murderers, and
idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie. Revelation 22:14,15 |
We are to speak the truth from our heart
|
LORD, who shall abide in thy tabernacle?
who shall dwell in thy holy hill?
He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness,
and speaketh the truth
in his heart.
He that backbiteth not with his tongue,
nor doeth evil to his neighbour,

Let no mercy and truth forsake thee:

Speak the truth
|
For my mouth shall speak truth;
and wickedness is an abomination to my lips.

When we leave the truth, in any way, we are in danger.
If we stay in the truth, if we say on the narrow path of truth, we can abide
in Christ.
Jesus is the truth, which is the greatest reason of all not to
ever lie.
As believers of Christ we are to live in truth because Jesus
is the truth.
Lying is defined as telling falsehood. Lying is telling
something that is not true. Lying is false. Even a child knows that
lying is wrong. Even a child knows when they are lying.

Lying is sin against God. Lying is when we bear false witness, lie
to anyone. There are no exceptions for lying, no okay lie, no time when it
is okay to lie.
God says that we are not to lie to anyone, at anytime, for
any reason. Just as there are not any little sins, there are not any
little lies. All sin is sin and all lies are lies.
A lie is a statement that is absent from the truth. A
partial lie is still a lie. No lie is of the truth - 1John
2:21. The truth when mixed with a lie becomes a lie. There is
no truth in a lie. There is no lie in the truth.
Yes, we all lie at some point in our lives because we are in
the flesh. The difference between a liar and those who choose to live in the
truth is that when we lie, we are convicted of our sin and ask for forgiveness
from God for our sin of lying. Lying is not a lifestyle for the Christian.
Lying is not pursued or practiced by the person living in the truth of God.
Until we are removed from this flesh and blood body and
translated into the Heavenly Kingdom of God we will be subject to sin and fall
into sin. The difference is the children of God are convicted by the Holy
Spirit of sin and immediately ask for forgiveness with prayer and repentance.
Our mind is opposed to all sin, but our flesh is at times weak.
The word of God reads that we are living in the last days,
soon Jesus will return, and in the latter times the world will be full of
liars.

God is truth. There is no truth in the
devil.

He is the Rock, his work is perfect:
for all his ways are judgment:
a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he.

When we believe that it is easier to lie, it is
better to lie, or we should lie, or we must lie, it is safer to lie, or we're
expected to lie, or everyone lies = where does this come from? It is NOT
from God because God is truth.
The truth is of God. Deceit and lies are of the devil.
Do not be deceived by satan, No lie is of the truth.
There is no lie in truth and no truth in lies.

I have not written unto you because
ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth.

God does not categorize deceit as little lies or big lies,
all deceit is sin. There is no difference between a little white lie
and a huge lie, NO LIE IS OF THE TRUTH. There is no truth in
lies, and there is no lies in truth.
Pray and ask God to guide you to all truth and keep you from deception.

God is truth. There is no truth in the
devil.
As with any behavioral change the first step is acknowledging
the issue. Lying is a choice. One decides to lie or tell the
truth. Admitting that you lie and have a problem with lying is the first
step.
Many people are habitual liars. The compulsion to lie is more
natural than telling the truth. To the compulsive liar telling the truth
seems awkward and difficult. It seems easier for the compulsive liar to
lie than to tell the truth.
Liars always have an excuse for their lying. They lie to
themselves when they believe it is better for another person to hear a lie than
to be told the truth. They lie to themselves when they say lying doesn't
hurt anyone. Lying always hurts God.
When we tell the truth it makes us become a truthful person.
Being truthful is a way we achieve a peaceful life. When we treat others
the way we want to be treated in truth we observe the ways of God.
Love the Lord thy God and keep his commandments.

to walk in his ways, and to fear him.
