If ye love me, keep my commandments. John 14:15

Do not murder.

This is a Bible Study on the 6th commandment of the 10 commandments spoken of in Exodus 20.

VI – Don’t kill.

Thou shalt not kill. Exodus 20:13

Thou shalt not kill. Deuteronomy 5:17

Definition of kill, murder, and murderer

By dictionary definition to kill means to deprive of life; to kill means to put an end to; To murder means the crime of unlawfully killing a person.

A murderer is one who murders, someone who deprives the life of someone.

God expands the definition of murderer to include anyone who hates anyone.

If you hate you are a murderer

A murderer is one who hates anyone and God says a murderer does not have eternal life.

Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him. 1 John 3:15

Why? Because God is love.

Do not hate anyone

Thou shalt not hate thy brother in thine heart: thou shalt in any wise rebuke thy neighbour, and not suffer sin upon him. Leviticus 19:17

A Murderer's destination is hell

But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. Revelation 21:8

Who has a part in hell? The fearful and unbelieving, the abominable, murderers, whoremongers, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars.

Love the Lord thy God and keep his commandments.

Therefore thou shalt keep the commandments of the LORD thy God, to walk in his ways, and to fear him. Deuteronomy 8:6

Therefore thou shalt love the LORD thy God, and keep his charge, and his statutes, and his judgments, and his commandments, alway. Deuteronomy 11:1

Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations; Deuteronomy 7:9
