And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying,
All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
Matthew 28:18 |
The dictionary defines power as the ability to act or
produce an effect; capacity for being acted upon or undergoing an effect; legal
or official authority, capacity, or right; possession of control, authority, or
influence over others; one having such power; specifically : a
sovereign state; a controlling group; physical might; mental or moral efficacy;
political control or influence.
We see many powers in this world today. We have
political powers and physical powers, placed on us in the world by other people,
which are the legal or official authority of our government. We have our
own physical limited powers, that enable us to walk, talk and function in this
world. We also have powers over our minds to analyze and choose how we
live our lives. We also have events in our lives that control our
thoughts, redirect our thought processes all throughout our lives.
Man is limited through his own self as to the amount of power
he has over his life. Man cannot control God. Man does not have
power over God.
There is no power greater than the power of God, for
the Lord God omnipotent reigns, Alleluia!
God is all powerful, almighty, omnipotent, and limitless.
And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude,
and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying,
Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth.
Revelation 19:6 |
Jesus has power over death
Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life,
that I might take it again.

I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again.
This commandment have I received of my Father.

Jesus has power to forgive sins
No one else but God can forgive sins.
While Jesus walked this earth he had power on earth to forgive
sins. Now that He has ascended into Heaven and sits on the right hand side
of God the Father, He forgives sins from His throne in Heaven.
But that ye may know that the Son of man
hath power on earth to forgive sins,
(then saith he to the sick of the palsy,)
Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thine house.
And he arose, and departed to his house.
But when the multitude saw it,
they marvelled, and glorified God,
which had given such power unto men.
Matthew 9:6 But that ye may know that the Son of man
hath power on earth to forgive sins,
(he saith to the sick of the palsy,)
Mark 2:10
But that ye may know that the Son of man
hath power upon
earth to forgive sins,

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to
forgive us our sins,
and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

I write unto you, little children, because your sins are
forgiven you for his name's sake.
1 John 2:12
By the which will we are sanctified through
the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same
sacrifices, which can never take away sins:
But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever,
sat down on the right hand of God;
For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.
And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.

Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature,
shall be able to separate us from the love of God,
which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

gives us all life and godliness
According as his divine power
hath given unto us all things
that pertain unto life and godliness,

that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature,
having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
2 Peter 1:3-4 |
Whosoever therefore resisteth the power,
resisteth the ordinance of God:
and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.
For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil.
Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power?
do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same:
For he is the minister of God to thee for good.
But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid;
for he beareth not the sword in vain:
for he is the minister of God,
a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.
Romans 13:2-4 |
The power of Jesus is received through repentance to
salvation, through repentance of sin, through confessing the Jesus Christ is
Lord, believing that He is all He says He is in His Word.
We are given the ability to receive the power of Jesus through
the salvation of God.
By receiving the gift of God - which is eternal salvation we
receive the power of Jesus to perform all that God has for us purposed.
Scripture tells us of the great and mighty miracles that Jesus
performed while He was on this earth.
Jesus healed people of evil spirits, made the blind see, made
the lame walk, made the mute speak, made the deaf hear, cured illness and
disease, cast out demons from many, and many more miracles that we will not know
of until we see Him in Glory. The Word of God states that we will do
greater works than these.
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth
on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than
these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. John 14:12 |
In salvation we put on Christ, put on His righteousness, and
through Christ to salvation we are given His power to do great and wondrous
things for the Kingdom of God, for God, so the Father may be glorified in the
Son (John 14:13).
And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will
I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall
ask any thing in my name, I will do it. John 14:12-14 |
The power of Jesus that is gifted to us is limitless.
There is nothing that we cannot do with the power of Jesus.
I can do all things through Christ which
strengtheneth me. Philippians 4:13 |
If the power of Jesus is calling you, pulling at
your heart, listen to Him, let Him come into your life, receive the free gift of
salvation from God.
Believe in Jesus and be cleansed from all your sins, be
forgiven, receive eternal life.
