If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord.   1 Corinthians 14:37

The Word of God is eternal.  A prophet of God confirms the word of God.  A prophet of God always aligns with the Word of God.  A true prophet of God will never contradict the Word of God.

 

 


What is a prophet?

The dictionary defines a prophet as one who utters divinely inspired revelations; the writer of one of the prophetic books of the Bible; one regarded by a group of followers as the final authoritative revealer of God's will; one who foretells future events; predictor.

The word of God defines a prophet as a seer.

(Beforetime in Israel, when a man went to inquire of God, thus he spake, Come, and let us go to the seer: for he that is now called a Prophet was beforetime called a Seer.)   1 Samuel 9:9

A prophet is a seer.  These men and women of God were given revelations by God, that they would give to other people.  Sometimes from an Angel of the Lord, sometimes hearing the voice of God, while they were asleep in a dream or awake in a vision, they would be given the words of God.

The word of the Lord God shared through a prophet is prophecy.

 


What is prophesy?

Prophesy is defined as divinely inspired words predicting events or conclusions, and or giving instructions from God.

Prophesy is found throughout the Holy Bible. 

Prophesy is a manifestation of God.

 


What is the purpose of a prophet?

What is the role of a prophet?

But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification and exhortation, and comfort.  1 Corinthians 14:3

The role of a prophet from yesterday and the role of a prophet today is the same, which is to:

  • Speak to mankind the Word of God

  • Edification

  • Exhortation

  • Comfort

 

Edification - a building up; instruction; improvement and progress of the mind, in knowledge in the faith.

Exhortation - to advise, counsel, incite and encourage to do that which is good in the eyes of the Lord, for the glory of the Lord, to further the cause of the faith.

Comfort - To strengthen, to invigorate, to cheer; to console; to give new vigor to; to relieve from trouble; relief from pain and distress of the mind; to ease and quiet. To give hope, support, consolation, peace which is in Christ Jesus.

Relief from pain is often the effect of strength.

We are strengthened, renewed, encouraged, lifted up by the Word of God because it relieves us from our present pain and suffering.

 


Where did / do prophets come from?

The prophets of the Old Testament and New Testament were given to us by the grace of God. 

The prophets from God in the world today are still given to us by the grace of God.  Prophets are a gift from God.

God uses special people to reveal Himself to His people.  In order to give special messages from God to God's people, God created prophets.

To receive a prophecy from God, God reveals Himself to that person.  When that person reveals the message received of God, that person is called a prophet.

No one is a true prophet of God without receiving first the gift of prophecy from God, the Word from God.

No one can make themselves a true prophet of God.  Prophecy from God is a gift from God alone.

No one can be a true prophet without God.  No one can be trained to be a prophet by man, because true prophecy is from God.

A prophet and a seer is one who sees or one who hears the word of God. 

A true prophet of God is proven by the word of God.   A true prophet of God will align with the word of God.  A true prophet of God will never say anything contrary to the written word of God.

A true prophet of God glorifies God and never himself or herself.  A true prophet of God magnifies God, testifies of Jesus Christ, speaks the word of truth.

A true prophet is unable to blaspheme God, or alter in any way the words of God.

A true prophet of God edifies the church of God, the body of Christ, and brings love and comfort from God to mankind.

 

 


Who was the first prophet listed in the Bible?

Abraham was the first biblical reference of a prophet, called a prophet by God, in His book of Genesis.

Now therefore restore the man his wife; for he is a prophet, and he shall pray for thee, and thou shalt live: and if thou restore her not, know thou that thou shalt surely die, thou, and all that are thine.   Genesis 20:7

 

 


Who were the prophets of the Bible?

There are many prophets throughout the word of God. 

The first reference to the word 'prophet' is found in Genesis 20:7 referring to when God tells Abimelech, who Abraham really is, that Abraham is a prophet.

Now therefore restore the man his wife; for he is a prophet, and he shall pray for thee, and thou shalt live: and if thou restore her not, know thou that thou shalt surely die, thou, and all that are thine.   Genesis 20:7

 

Next in Exodus 7:1, God tells Moses that his brother Aaron will be his prophet.

And the LORD said unto Moses, See, I have made thee a god to Pharaoh: and Aaron thy brother shall be thy prophet.   Exodus 7:1

 

Miriam, the sister of Aaron.

And Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took a timbrel in her hand; and all the women went out after her with timbrels and with dances.   Exodus 15:20

 

Seventy elders.

And the LORD came down in a cloud, and spake unto him, and took of the spirit that was upon him, and gave it unto the seventy elders: and it came to pass, that, when the spirit rested upon them, they prophesied, and did not cease.   Numbers 11:25

 

Moses was God's prophet.

And there arose not a prophet since in Israel like unto Moses, whom the LORD knew face to face,   Deuteronomy 34:10

 

Samuel was a prophet of the Lord.

And all Israel from Dan even to Beersheba knew that Samuel was established to be a prophet of the LORD.   1 Samuel 3:20

 

Who were the other prophets?  There are so many I will not list them all.  Many prophets were not named.

 


Are only men prophets? Were there ever women prophets?

The word of God speaks of women prophets, they were called a prophetess.

 

Miriam

In Exodus 15:20, the sister of Aaron - Miriam is called the prophetess.

And Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took a timbrel in her hand; and all the women went out after her with timbrels and with dances.   Exodus 15:20

 

Deborah

In Judges, we see the wife of Lapidoth - Deborah - was a prophetess.

And Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lapidoth, she judged Israel at that time.   Judges 4:4

 

Huldah the prophetess (2 Kings 22:14; 2 Chronicles 34:22).

Noadiah the prophetess (Nehemiah 6:14)

Unnamed prophetess (Isaiah 8:3)

Anna a prophetess (Luke 2:36)

Philip's four virgin daughter prophetesses (Acts 21:8-9)

Jezebel a false prophetess (Revelation 2:20)

 

Future prophetess of God.

We are living in the last days and the Word of God proclaims that God will pour out His Spirit on all flesh and sons and daughters will prophesy.

And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:   Acts 2:17

 

God does not discriminate

God does not discriminate people, like the world does.  God does not see us based on gender, race, wealth, position, or physical limitations. 

Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:   Acts 10:34

God only sees two types of people, the saved and the lost, those who are His children and those who are not His children but are the children of the devil.

God is no respecter of persons.  God does not value one soul over another, because who they think they are or what they think they have.

Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.  Colossians 3:11

We belong to God because of Christ Jesus.  Our relationship to God is through Christ Jesus, none other - no religion, no other doctrine, no affiliation, no denomination, no human being, no other prophet, nothing but Christ.

We are Christ's and Christ is God's (1 Corinthians 3:23).  We belong to God through Christ alone - nothing or no one else reconciles us to God but Christ.  Jesus alone - all by Himself - reconciles mankind to God.  Jesus paid the price for our salvation, our reconciliation, our redemption, our sanctification, our way to God once and for all.

 


How do people become prophets?

The LORD God raises us certain men and women as prophets.

The LORD thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken;   Deuteronomy 18:16

 

Our Lord God raised up prophets.

And he said, Hear now my words: If there be a prophet among you, I the LORD will make myself known unto him in a vision, and will speak unto him in a dream.   Numbers 12:6

 


Is there a way to prove if a prophet is from God?

God says that there are many false prophets gone out into the world today, and that we are to prove them that are true prophets of God.

Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.   1 John 4:1

And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.   Matthew 24:11

For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.   Matthew 24:24

Prophets and prophesy are proven against the Word of God.  A true prophet and true prophesy will never contradict God or His Holy Word.

We are to try - prove - prophets, prophesy and all doctrine against the written Word of God.  This is why it is imperative that we know what is in God's Word, we must study and know the doctrine of God so that when we hear prophesy we will know if it is from God of from another.

 

 


What a false prophet?

A true prophet is of God and a true prophet of the Lord speaks the words of the Lord God Almighty.

A false prophet is NOT of God and does NOT speak the words of the Lord God Almighty.

If a prophet is NOT speaking from the Lord God, who are they speaking from?  If a prophet is NOT speaking the words of our Lord God, they are speaking the words of the devil.

Their are only two types of people, people who are OF God and people who are NOT OF God

The saved, who are the children of God are OF God, and the lost, who are the children of the devil are NOT OF God.

To be a false prophet and say you are speaking from God, when in fact you are NOT speaking from God, this is unrighteousness, which is sin.

False prophets are unrighteousness, they have sinned against God because they lied and said they are speaking from God, which they are not.

In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.   1 John 3:10

The word of God reads that whosoever - any person who is doing unrighteousness is NOT of God.

 


How to know if a prophet is truly speaking from God?

Are all prophets from God?  Are all prophets today speaking God's words?

God says NO, the word of God reads that NOT all prophets are speaking the words of God.  NOT all prophets have received their vision, their dream, their revelation from God.

A true prophet of God is proven by the word of God.

The word of God proves if a prophet is truly speaking from God.

The word of God tells us that NOT all prophets are speaking from God.

 

What do false prophets look like?

Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.   Matthew 7:15

The word of God reads to BEWARE of false prophets.  Beware means to be on one's guard; to take care; to be wary of.  We are to be on our guard and to be wary of false prophets.

Why?  Because their purpose is to deceive you, lie to you, steal from you your hope of salvation.  The main goal of the devil is to separate you from God.  All false prophets, which are of satan, have the same purpose, which is to separate you from God.  And not just now, but for eternity.

Then this scripture, word from God, tells us what false prophets look like, come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

What do false prophets look like?  The word of God reads that false prophets will come in sheep's clothing.  Who are the sheep?  Who is the Good Shepherd?  Believers of Christ Jesus are the sheep and our shepherd is Jesus.

This word from God tells us that false prophets will not look evil, they will not look like their father, the devil, but that they will look just like us, the saved, the children of God.

God says they may look like the righteous, the saved, the children of God, but on the inside, the truth is that they are ravening wolves, the children of the devil.  Ravening wolves hunt for those who they can devour, usually the weaker animals, but if they are in packs they can devour almost anything.

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: 1 Peter 5:8

 

The saved in Christ are the sheep, the lambs of God.  By abiding in Christ, staying in fellowship with our Lord Jesus, we can stand against anything this world has to throw at us, including ravening wolves, false prophets.

Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves. Matthew 10:16

 

We are lambs against the wolves, but it doesn't matter, because we cannot be defeated because we serve the Lamb of God, Jesus Christ.

Go your ways: behold, I send you forth as lambs among wolves.   Luke 10:3

 


How many false prophets exist today?

Since the first true prophet of God there have existed false prophets.  False prophets existed in Biblical times as well as today.

The word of God reads many false prophets will rise up AND that they shall deceive many people.  Anyone can be deceived by a false prophet.  No one is immune from being deceived by false prophets, even the very elect, believers of Christ (Matthew 24:24).

And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.   Matthew 24:11

How many?  I believe if God gave us an actual number of false prophets that are in the world today, it would be too much to think about.  The number of false prophets in the world today is very high.

 


What are false Christs?

 

For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.   Matthew 24:24

We have heard about false prophets but have you heard about false Christs?

Any person claiming to be Christ is a false Christ. 

Today, right now, there are many people around the world claiming to be Christ, and they have followers, people who actually believe them.

(I am not listing those people who claim to be Christ.  If you want a list, you can perform an internet search for claim to be Christ, you will find a list of past and present lost souls, who claim to be Christ.) 

As believers of Christ, we know that they cannot be our Saviour and Lord Jesus Christ.  How do I know this?  Because God said that I will see Christ Jesus when He returns, and I have not seen Him return.  And not only just me, but the whole wide world will see the return of Christ Jesus.

Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.   Revelation 1:7

 


How do these false Christ and false prophets fool people?

The word of God reads that the false Christs and false prophets in the world will show signs and wonders.

For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect.   Mark 13:22

We must remember that NOT ever sign and wonder is from a true prophet of God.

The devil through his false prophets can show signs and wonders.

 


How do we know if a prophet is from God, or a false prophet?

The Word of God gives instruction how we can know if a prophet is from God or is a false prophet.  All people, teachers, preachers, prophets can be proven by the Word of God.  Everyone "of God" will align with the Word of God, they will not contradict God's Word.

But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. 2 Peter 2:1

God says the false prophets and false teachers bring in damnable heresies.  A heresy is any doctrine contrary to the word of God.

God says that false prophets will even deny God that bought them.

God says the end of false prophets is swift destruction.

God says we are NOT to believe every spirit. 

Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.   1 John 4:1

In the word of God, there are scriptures referring to unclean spirits.  Jesus removed many unclean spirits from people while He walked the earth as a human.

We are to try the spirits, test and prove all prophets and all teachers, to determine if they are of God.

 


How to know if a prophet is false?

A true prophet speaks the word of God from God and is of God.

A false prophet does NOT speak the word of God and is NOT of God.

When God gave us prophets, there appeared false prophets

The false prophets were very good at deceiving people, so God gave His people ways to determine if a prophet was true or false, through His word.

God gives us several ways to prove a prophet is false in His word.

  1. If the prophet leads people away from God to other gods, to other people, or to other teachings rather than what is written in the word of God, God says the prophet is false.
  2. If the prophet prophecies future events that do not occur, God says the prophet is false.
  3. If the prophet says anything that leads people away from loving the Lord God with all your heart and with all your soul, God says the prophet is false.
  4. If the prophet speaks in anyway that leads people away from God, leads people to turn away from the Lord God in any way, God says the prophet is false.

 

False prophets lead people away from God to other gods

Cults lead people away from the true God to other gods. 

They replace the one true God with their gods.  

They replace the true doctrine of God with their manmade doctrine

He that is of God heareth God's words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.   John 8:47

They replace belief in God with belief in them

They put themselves, what they have to say, above the words of God. 

They replace the word of God with their corrupt version of the word of God, in their own bible.

 

False prophets prophecy future events that do not occur

Only God can predict the future, this is why it is easy to spot false prophets who prophecy future events or dates, when things will occur.

God says if a person prophecies future events and these events do NOT occur that this person is a false prophet, and you should have nothing more to do with them.

One of the most falsely predicted dates, is the date of our Lord Jesus Christ's return to earth.

Many false prophets have given the date of Christ's return.  None of these prophecies have happened on the dates that these people have given; and therefore, they are false prophets.

The word of God clearly states that ONLY God the Father knows the date of Christ's return, and none other.

If you are listening to a prophet who gives the date of Christ Jesus' return, God says you are listening to a false prophet.

But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.   Matthew 24:36

Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.   Matthew 24:42

Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.   Matthew 24:44

Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.   Matthew 25:13

For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.   1 Thessalonians 5:2

 

False prophets lead people away from loving the Lord God

The devil does NOT love God.  The devil is separated from God and will eternally be separated from God.  The devil's main goal, his purpose, is to separate you from God and take you with him to hell for eternity.

Any prophet who leads people away from loving the Lord God is a false prophet.

Any true prophet of God will lead people to the love of God, not away from the love of God.

Prophets who prophecy hate, murder, any type of hatred toward any people are false prophets. 

Any person who promotes hate, murder, and any type of hatred toward any people for any reason are NOT of God.

Prophets who prophecy hatred toward God in any way are false prophets.

God is love.  God has always been love and God will be love for eternity.  God is love for eternity.

Loving our Lord God and bringing glory to God is our utmost purpose of our existence, of our life.

Anyone who leads people away from loving the Lord God Almighty and Jesus Christ are false prophets and are not of God.

In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.   1 John 3:10

Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.  1 John 3:15

And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment. And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.   1 John 3:23-24

Any one who promotes replacing or substituting the love for God with love toward any one or anything else is not a prophet of God.

 

False prophets lead people away from God in any way possible

False prophets may not present another god, but they lead people away from God in other ways.

False prophets may not say that their followers are to worship another god.  They may even promote God the Father and Jesus Christ, but they lead people away from God in other ways.

By promoting God and Jesus they can trick people into converting and following them. 

People who follow false prophets, do not take the time to learn all that these false teachers and false prophets are saying and teaching. 

People who follow these false prophets have a false sense of security.  All they care about is that the person they follow, the false prophet, says they believe in God and Jesus Christ.  The followers do not care to look at the complete doctrine being taught.

The word of God reads that the only way to God the Father is through His Son, Jesus Christ. 

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. John 14:6

The word of God reads that the only mediator, the only advocate between God and humankind is Jesus Christ. 

God says we are to pray to God and Christ Jesus alone, no one else.  God says that we are to worship only God and Jesus Christ, no other gods.

Believing any person over God to tell you the truth is a big mistake.

Jesus said we err, we make a mistake, not knowing the word of God ourselves.

Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God. Matthew 22:29

Don't let anyone stand in the way of your eternal salvation.  Don't let anyone prevent you from receiving eternal life in the Kingdom of God.

You alone are responsible for your eternity.  No one else on this earth can save you from hell.  Only Jesus Christ saves anyone.  By putting all your trust and faith in Jesus alone, you can receive eternal life.

You will be judged by God on Judgment Day.  All people will be judged by God. 

God will ask you if YOU have a personal relationship with His Son, Jesus Christ.

If you say yes I do have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, yes I have asked Jesus into my heart to be my Lord and Saviour over my life, yes I have surrendered all to Him, only then will you gain entrance into the Kingdom of God for eternity.

If you say, but I believed in this man and he said if I follow him I would be saved, I didn't know he was a false prophet, I thought he was telling me the truth.

God will tell you "Depart from me, I do not know you".

Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.   Matthew 7:22-23

The only way though the gates of Heaven is knowing God.  The only way to know God is through His Son, Jesus Christ, by believing and trusting in Jesus can anyone be saved.

Don't be one who God says to, "Depart from me", receive salvation and live for eternity in Heaven.

Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:   Matthew 25:41

 


Why do we believe false prophets?

Anyone can be deceived into believing in false prophets, when we turn from our faith and trust in God alone.

 

People believe in false prophets because it is easy

It is easier to let someone else think for them, and tell them what to think.

Many people chose to take the easy way.  Many people choose to believe a lie, and let other people make their decision for their lives, and for many different reasons.

Many people do NOT want to take the time to learn the truth for ourselves.

It is easier for someone else to tell them the truth.  But is it the truth?

God knows everything about us.  He knows that our spirit is willing to know the truth, but our flesh is weak.  We have good intentions but we sometimes do not follow through, or make the effort to carry out our good intentions.

Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. Matthew 26:41

 

Most of us want to do the right thing, but we do not even try sometimes.

If we just try, God will help us.  If we ask God for His strength, He will give it to us. 

If we step out of our comfort zone, through faith in His word, God will not fail us.

Nothing is impossible through Christ.  If we believe, put our trust in Jesus, He will do the impossible.

For with God nothing shall be impossible.   Luke 1:37

 

 

People believe false prophets because they lie.

Lies, deceit, falsehood, trick and seduce people into seeing a distorted picture of the truth.

For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect.   Mark 13:22

 

Lies are the tools of false prophets.  All false prophets lie.  False prophets lie because their father lies.  The father of all deceit and all lies is satan.

Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.   John 8:44

A true prophet from God speaks the truth of God.  There are no lies in truth and no truth in lies.  A partial truth is still a lie.  A partial lie is still a lie.  Any portion of lies destroy the truth.  Ninety nine percent truth and one percent lie is still a lie.  A drop of lying inside truth, voids all the truth.

 


What should we do about false prophets?

In the Old Testament days, a false prophet was put to death, killed.

Today we do not kill false prophets, but the word of God does gives us full instructions how to deal with them today.

For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist. Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward. Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son. If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:  For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds. 2 John 1:7-11

The word of God reads  we are as guilty of their sin as they are if we participate in their evil deeds, those people who do NOT abide in the doctrine of Christ, who do NOT teach the doctrine of Christ, who teach doctrine that is contrary to the Word of God.

God said we are NOT to allow them to bring false doctrine into our house, and we are NOT to bid teachers of false doctrine God speed

We can and should pray that God will change their heart and turn them from their false doctrines.  We are to pray for the lost every day, pray that the Spirit of God will convict their hearts to turn from their sin and turn to God.

This scripture does NOT mean that we are NOT to be kind to them, or shun them, but we are to witness and tell the gospel of Christ to everyone we meet, especially to those who bring false doctrines to us.

 


I'm saved, so I can't be deceived by a false prophet?

Many people believe that they cannot be deceived by a false prophet because they are a believer, but this is NOT what God says in His word.

For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.  Matthew 24:24

God said that false Christs and false prophets will be among us, who shall deceive the very elect.

Believers of Christ Jesus are the elect of God. 

God said that false prophets shall deceive the believers of Christ, the saved.  God didn't say that they "might deceive believers" but that false prophets "will deceive the very elect".

For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect.   Mark 13:22

 

How is this possible?  Anytime we misplace our trust and faith, we are in danger.

Our trust and faith must continually be in Christ Jesus alone; our trust and faith can be in no other thing or person living or dead.

Believers of Christ Jesus must daily commit their lives to Him.

By reading and studying the word of God, by praying and worshipping God, we arm ourselves against false prophets, false teachers. 

We must daily put on the full armor of God to protect ourselves against the devil.

By abiding in Christ Jesus, we can avoid being deceived by satan's and his followers, who are false prophets.

 


Who are the false prophets today?

 

Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.   1 John 4:1

Just as in Old Testament days, we have many false prophets in this world today.

The number of false prophets is staggering and growing each day.

By reading and studying the word of God, we arm ourselves against false prophets and false teachers.  By abiding in Christ Jesus, we can avoid being deceived by satan's followers, false prophets.

 


What is the destiny of all false prophets?

All false prophets that prophesy lies and teach other doctrine than the word of God and who lead people away from Christ will be cast into the lake of fire, which is hell for eternity.

Anyone who does not confess and turn away from sin and follow Jesus Christ will be cast into the lake of fire, hell for eternity.

The word of God tells us DO NOT BE DECEIVED by false prophets, hold onto your faith, and belief in Jesus Christ, overcome sin and lust of the world, endure until the end and you will be saved from hell.

Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:   Matthew 25:41

Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.   1 Corinthians 6:9-10

A common lie spread by false prophets is that it doesn't matter how you live.  False prophets say that if you say that you are saved, if you say that you are a Christian, you will NOT perish, die in your sin, will not be cast into hell, and will not be separated from God for eternity.

 

This is NOT what God says in His Holy word.

Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.  For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. Galatians 6:7-8

Those who sow to the Spirit of God, obey God in their life, live as righteous as they possible can, shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.

If you sow to the flesh, live a life full of sin and unrighteousness, sin willfully and on purpose, you will reap corruption, you will perish, you will be cast into the lake of fire, to spend eternity in hell, and be eternally separated from God.

God tells us all, DO NOT BE DECEIVED.  God is NOT mocked.

Many people believe the lies of the devil, the lies of sin, the lies of the lusts of the world.  God firmly tells us to not believe those lies.  God tells us what the lies are and for us NOT to believe them.  I don't know how much clearer God could be, but some people still cannot see the truth.

Some people would rather believe the lies of a false prophet, the lies of the devil, than the wonderful truth of our Blessed Lord God.

 


Are there true prophets of God today?

Okay, we know that there are many false prophets today in the world, but are there any real, true prophets of God in the world today?

Yes, there are true prophets of God in the world today.

The Scriptures tell us that in the last days - which we are living in right now - that God Himself will pour out His Spirit upon all flesh, and men and women will prophesy as the Holy Spirit leads them.

And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.  Acts 2:17

 


Why did God give us prophets?

Prophets were given to mankind from God for our comfort, to comfort us with God's love.  Everything that God gives to us is from His love for us.  Every good gift is from GOD above (James 1:17), for our benefit.

God gifts us prophets for our benefit, to help us and show us how much God loves us.

For ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be comforted.  1 Corinthians 14:31

God gave us prophets to prophesy to us that we all may learn of God and that we all may be comforted.

God is so good to us.  God created us and knows how we think and how we learn.  God gifted us with prophets and prophesy so to teach us in a way that we could learn and through human beings like ourselves knowing the comfort we would experience from having human contact and intimacy of seeing, touching, hearing a human prophet in person.

God loves us so much and His gifts of prophets and prophecy is just one other way He shows us how much.

Can I become a prophet? Can anyone?

God hath set.  The gifts of God are from God.   Prophets are chosen by God, gifted special ability from God above. 

Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.  And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.  1 Corinthians 12:27-28

 

"Not my will, but thine be done".

You cannot wake up one day and decide that you will be a prophet.  A prophet is chosen by God, gifted by God with the gift of prophecy.

We are to seek the gifts of God, seek all the gifts of God.  Through prayer and following the will of God we desire the gifts of God.  If it is God's desire - His will - then we will be gifted the gift of prophesy.

A prophet of God is never appointed by committee of men.  A prophet is never elected by voting of men.  A prophet is not created by men.  A prophet is not a title received by men.

A prophet of God can and should be tested and proven true by the Word of God.

 


Are all believers of Christ prophets?

All true prophets of God are all believers of Christ Jesus, but not all believers are prophets. 

And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:  Ephesians 4:11-12

 

God gives gifts to all His children and He gives His gifts to whom He chooses.

For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.  1 Corinthians 12:8-11

All believers of Christ Jesus are to seek the gifts of God through prayer.  We are to pray and ask God for the gifts that He desires to bless us with - gifts for us that will serve Him best.

 


Is there a head prophet?

Is there a head or top level prophet that is above all other prophets?

Yes, there is a head prophet, a top level prophet, a chief prophet and He is Jesus the Christ.

God alone is Almighty.  God alone is Master over all.  God alone is Omnipotent.  There is but One God who is God over all things.

No earthly prophet is above God.  God holds the highest position.  No one or nothing has authority over God.

God is the head authority over all mankind, whether they be pastors, preachers, teachers, leaders, elders, priests, deacons, bishops, spiritual leaders of any kind, or prophets.

Jesus is the Head.

Jesus Christ our Lord is the Head over all the earth, over all mankind, over all things - Ephesians 1:22.

Jesus Christ is the Head of the Church.  Jesus Christ is the Saviour of all mankind.  Jesus Christ is the Head of the body - the Church - Ephesians 4:15; 5:23; Colossians 1:18.

Jesus Christ is the Head of all principality and power - Colossians 2:10.

Jesus Christ is the beginning from which all came; nothing is before Christ, above Christ, greater than Christ Jesus; by Jesus all things exist - Colossians 1:17-18; John 1:1-4, 10, 14. 

Jesus is the chief corner stone, the foundation where all the apostles and prophets were built upon - 1 Corinthians 3:11; Ephesians 2:20

Jesus Christ was the perfect prophet to mankind when He was on this earth. 

Jesus Christ remains the Head of all prophets - past, present and future.

No person has or ever will be given authority over Jesus Christ.
