And he said, The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; The God of my rock; in him will I trust: he is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my saviour; thou savest me from violence.  2 Samuel 22:2-3

For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.  1 Timothy 4:10

Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; for in thee do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee.  Psalm 143:8

 

 


What is trust?

As a noun, the dictionary defines trust as assured reliance on the character, ability, strength, or truth of someone or something; dependence on something future or contingent, as hope; reliance on future payment for property delivered, as credit.

As a verb, the dictionary defines trust as to place confidence: depend, as in "trust in God"; to be confident: hope; to commit or place in one's care of keeping: entrust; to permit to stay or go or to do something without fear or misgiving; to rely on the truthfulness or accuracy of: believe; to place confidence in: rely on.

  • Trust in God is to have assured reliance on the ability of God, on the character of God, on the strength of God, and on the truth of God. 

  • Trust in God is having dependence in the present and future promises of God; hope that God will fulfill all that He has promised.

  • Trusting in God is to place complete confidence in God for all things in our lives.

  • Trusting in God is to be confident in God that He is all that He says that He is.

  • Trusting in God is believing that He is able to do all things.

  • Trusting in God is believing that He will do all that He says that He will do.

  • Trusting in God is committing to God all of ourselves; placing our care into the hands of God; knowing that God will keep us; entrusting God with all parts of our lives.

  • Trusting in God is living for God without fear of what any man can do to us.

  • Trusting in God is relying on the truthfulness of God; not relying on ourselves, but believing in God.

  • Trusting in God is placing our complete confidence in God for everything.

  • Trusting in God is relying on God for all things; not just some things.

  • Trusting in God is placing our complete faith in God's plan for our lives; that He does know what is best for us, that He has a perfect plan for our lives.

  • Trusting in God is waiting on Him to deliver us.

Do you trust God?  Do you trust God for all things?

 


How can we trust in GOD for all things?

We must believe that God is God

In order to have complete faith and trust in God for all things, we must believe that He is God.  We must believe that He is the only one true living Almighty God, the Creator of all things.  

We must believe ALL of the revelation of God that He gave to us in His Holy word about Himself.  We must believe that He is God, who can do all things, who is able to do anything, and that, with God nothing is impossible.

In order to be able to trust in God for all things, we must first believe that God is ALL that He says that He is.

But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.  Hebrews 11:6

All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.  John 1:3

God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands;  Neither is worshipped with men's hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;  Acts 17:24-25

For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:  And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.  Colossians 1:16-17

 

All things are in God's hands

If we believe that God is ALL who He says that He is, then we know that all good things are in God's control.

I will cry unto God most high; unto God that performeth all things for me.  Psalm 57:2

Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he was come from God, and went to God;  John 13:3

Everything that was, that is, and that is to come is known by God.  God is the master of our little world, He created it, He created us, and He has the ending already planned out to the last detail.  Trusting in God is realizing that all things are in His hands, in His keeping, for His purpose, for His glory.

We must trust God with everything and trust that all things are in God's hands.

In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:  Ephesians 1:11

 

Surrendering all to God

Only by giving God all can we trust God for all things.  When we hold certain parts of our life from God, when we don't surrender all to God, we are showing that we do NOT trust God with that portion of our life.

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.  Romans 8:28

We must surrender all to God, in order to trust Him for all things.  We must give God all of our life, not just parts of it; He will accept nothing less.

Unless we come to God and give Him all, surrender all of our life to Him, we cannot be saved.  We cannot hold anything back from God. 

We must lose our life, let go of our life for God, to gain life eternal.  Surrendering ALL means giving ALL of ourselves to God.

Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.  For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.  For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?  Matthew 16:24-26

 

We must release hold of ourselves and give the reigns of our life to Jesus.  We must deny "self" to inherit our reward from God.  Without dying to ourselves, dying to self, dying to our past life, we cannot receive eternal life.  We must let go of our old life to receive our new life, our eternal life

We must throw away our old life, in order to receive a new life.  We cannot hold onto our old life and receive new life in Christ Jesus, because God said it can't work that way.

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.  2 Corinthians 5:17

 

If you are holding onto your past, any part of your old life, you are NOT trusting God for all things.

Many people make up their own 'religion' or 'plan of salvation', by thinking that they only have to give God part of their lives to Him.  They falsely believe that they can be 'saved' by partial faith.  "I'll give God that part of my life, but He can't have this, because I still want it".  NO, wake up!!  It doesn't work that way.  No one is partially saved, you are either saved or you are lost.  

Partial faith in God is NOT faith in God.   Partial trust in God is NOT trusting God.  God says we must give all of ourselves to Him to receive His free gift of salvation.  We must have total faith in Him alone for our salvation, nothing else will work.

Remember Lot's wife.

Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it; and whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it.  Luke 17:32-33

 

The word of God tells us, if we seek to save any part of our old way of life, if we try and keep part of our old life, we will lose our life.  

Only when we lose our life, put to death our old life for a new way, surrender up our old life for a new life, if we surrender all to Christ Jesus, then God will preserve our life.

The previous verse states that we are to remember Lot's wife.  Lot and his wife were spared when God destroyed Sodom, but Lot's wife couldn't give up her life there, she wanted to save the life she had known, she wouldn't give it up; and, when she looked back, she was destroyed.

For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it.  For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?  Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?  Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.  Mark 8:35-38

We are saved by the grace of God through faith in Jesus Christ.  We are NOT saved by partial grace or partial faith in Jesus.

 

With God, ALL things are possible

We must know in our heart, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that God is able to do ALL things that He promises us in His Holy Word, and beyond.

But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.  Matthew 19:26

 

God will keep us

God is able to keep us, in every way, when we trust and obey Him, all the days of our lives.

For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.  2 Timothy 1:12

 

Keep our mind focused on Jesus

Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.  Isaiah 26:3

 


Why are we to trust in GOD?

 

He is the living God, the Saviour of all men; God is our salvation

For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.  1 Timothy 4:10

 

God is our salvation

We place our complete trust in Him alone for our salvation and our future.

Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name's sake.  Psalm 79:9

The LORD liveth; and blessed be my rock; and let the God of my salvation be exalted.  Psalm 18:46

And say ye, Save us, O God of our salvation, and gather us together, and deliver us from the heathen, that we may give thanks to thy holy name, and glory in thy praise.  1 Chronicles 16:35

Turn us, O God of our salvation, and cause thine anger toward us to cease.  Psalm 85:4

 

God is our strength

The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.  Psalm 18:2

We are nothing without Christ.  Everything that we are and hope to be is because of Christ Jesus.

 

So we may declare all God's works

But it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, that I may declare all thy works.  Psalm 73:28

We can declare all the works of God, because we have placed our complete trust in the Lord God.

 


In whom should we place out trust?

 

The one true living God

Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;  1 Timothy 6:17

Shiggaion of David, which he sang unto the LORD, concerning the words of Cush the Benjamite. O LORD my God, in thee do I put my trust: save me from all them that persecute me, and deliver me:  Psalm 7:1

In the LORD put I my trust: how say ye to my soul, Flee as a bird to your mountain?  Psalm 11:1

Michtam of David. Preserve me, O God: for in thee do I put my trust.  Psalm 16:1

But I trusted in thee, O LORD: I said, Thou art my God.  Psalm 31:14

And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.  1 John 5:20

 

We should trust God who raised the dead.

But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead:  2 Corinthians 1:9

 

Jesus Christ

We are to place our trust in Jesus Christ, who is the true God and eternal life.

And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.  1 John 5:20

That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.  In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,  Ephesians 1:12-13

 

Holy Spirit

And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.  Ephesians 4:30

We are to place our trust in the Holy Spirit of God, who is God.

For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.  1 John 5:7

 


In whom are we NOT to place our trust?

 

Other people before God

We are NOT to place our trust in other people before God.  We are to place our complete trust in our Lord God, before, above any human being.

Oh how great is thy goodness, which thou hast laid up for them that fear thee; which thou hast wrought for them that trust in thee before the sons of men!  Psalm 31:19

Where is God on your chain of trust?  Who do you trust first?  Do you trust other people and then God?  Do you trust yourself first?

It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.  Psalm 118:8

 

Self; ourselves

Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD.  Jeremiah 17:5

If we trust in man, other men, or ourselves, we are not trusting in God, our heart departs from the Lord when we place our trust in anyone other than God, including ourselves.

And such trust have we through Christ to God-ward:  Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God;  2 Corinthians 3:4-5

The word of God reads that we are NOT to trust in ourselves, but in God, our sufficiency is of God, not ourselves.

But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead:   2 Corinthians 1:9

 


What are we to trust?

 

The name of the LORD

Our help is in the name of the LORD, who made heaven and earth.  Psalm 124:8

Praise ye the LORD. Praise ye the name of the LORD; praise him, O ye servants of the LORD.  Psalm 135:1

Let them praise the name of the LORD: for he commanded, and they were created.  Psalm 148:5

The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.  Proverbs 18:10

Who is among you that feareth the LORD, that obeyeth the voice of his servant, that walketh in darkness, and hath no light? let him trust in the name of the LORD, and stay upon his God.  Isaiah 50:10

And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD hath said, and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call.  Joel 2:32

Behold, your house is left unto you desolate: and verily I say unto you, Ye shall not see me, until the time come when ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.  Luke 13:35

And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.  Acts 2:21

And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.  Acts 10:48

When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.  Acts 19:5

And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.  Acts 22:16

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.  For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.  Romans 10:9, 13

And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.  1 Corinthians 6:11

And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.  Colossians 3:17

Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.  This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.  Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.  Acts 4:10-12

 

The mercy of God

But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation.  Psalm 13:5

 

The gospel of Christ Jesus, the gospel of God

But as we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the gospel, even so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God, which trieth our hearts.  1 Thessalonians 2:4

According to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust.  1 Timothy 1:11

As believers, we are given the gospel of Christ Jesus to share with all the world.

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.  Romans 1:16

In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.  2 Corinthians 4:4

 


What are we NOT to trust?

 

Vanity

Let not him that is deceived trust in vanity: for vanity shall be his recompense.  Job 15:31

 

Our own understanding; self; our own way

Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.  Proverbs 3:5

He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered.  Proverbs 28:26

 

The flesh

We are not to trust our flesh, our bodies, our earthly beings.  As the children of the Most High God, we are dead to the flesh and alive in the Spirit of God forevermore.  Believers of God are still in their earthly, flesh body, but we do not life for them or by them; we live for Christ by faith in the spirit.

For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.  Philippians 3:3

I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.  Galatians 2:20

So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you.   Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.  And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.  Romans 8:8-10

 

Idols; idolatry

Their idols are silver and gold, the work of men's hands.  They that make them are like unto them; so is every one that trusteth in them.  Psalm 115:4,8

 

Money; wealth; material things; own riches

He that trusteth in his riches shall fall: but the righteous shall flourish as a branch.  Proverbs 11:28

Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;  1 Timothy 6:17

Trust not in oppression, and become not vain in robbery: if riches increase, set not your heart upon them.  Psalm 62:10

For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.  But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.  Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.  1 Timothy 6:10-12

 

Money is NOT evil.  God says that the love of money is the root of all evil.  When we love money, trust in money, other than trusting in God, we are trusting in uncertain riches. 

True riches, true treasure, true wealth, true abundance is salvation in Christ Jesus.  Our true treasure is Christ dwelling inside of us.  Our trust is in God, not in material things we think we possess.

God says that where our treasure is, there our heart is also.  If our treasure is our material possessions, that is where our heart is, that is where our trust is.

For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.  Matthew 6:21

 

Ungodliness and worldly lusts

For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;  Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;  Titus 2:11-12

 


Who places their trust in the Lord GOD?

 

The saved, people who know the LORD trust in Him

And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.  Psalm 9:10

 

People who are NOT ashamed of God, trust in Him

O my God, I trust in thee: let me not be ashamed, let not mine enemies triumph over me.  Yea, let none that wait on thee be ashamed: let them be ashamed which transgress without cause.  Psalm 25:2-3

 

All who fear the Lord God

Ye that fear the LORD, trust in the LORD: he is their help and their shield.  Psalm 115:11

 

All who live by the Spirit of God; led by the Spirit

For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.  Romans 8:14

 


Who does NOT place their trust in the Lord GOD?

 

The lost, people who deny Christ Jesus, unbelievers of God, those who forsake God

Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.  But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.  Matthew 10:32-33

If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us:  2 Timothy 2:12

For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.  Jude 1:4

But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.  Revelation 21:8

 

Enemies of God; enemies of the cross of Christ

Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.  James 4:4

(For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ:  Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.)  Philippians 3:18-19

 

The disobedient; all people who willfully disobey God

And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,  In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:  Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;  When he shall come to be glorified in his saints,   and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day.  2 Thessalonians 1:7-10

 

Idolaters

Their idols are silver and gold, the work of men's hands.  They have mouths, but they speak not: eyes have they, but they see not:  They have ears, but they hear not: noses have they, but they smell not:  They have hands, but they handle not: feet have they, but they walk not: neither speak they through their throat.  They that make them are like unto them; so is every one that trusteth in them.  Psalm 115:4-8

Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God?   Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.  1 Corinthians 6:9-10

 

The wicked; evildoers

Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness.  2 Peter 3:17

And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith.  2 Thessalonians 3:2

For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth.  Psalm 37:9

 

The unrighteous, people who do not cease from sinning

But these, as natural brute beasts, made to be taken and destroyed, speak evil of the things that they understand not; and shall utterly perish in their own corruption; And shall receive the reward of unrighteousness, as they that count it pleasure to riot in the day time. Spots they are and blemishes, sporting themselves with their own deceivings while they feast with you; Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children: Which have forsaken the right way, and are gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness;  2 Peter 2:12-15

 

Those who trust in themselves

And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others: Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.  The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.  I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.  And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.  I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.  Luke 18:9-14

The word of God tells us that we must give up self, deny self, die to self, surrender all to Christ Jesus in order to come to God.  We must lose our "self", to gain Christ Jesus, we must surrender all our live, to receive salvation from God.

Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.  Matthew 16:24

And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.  Luke 9:23

 

Live after the flesh

Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.  For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.  Romans 8:12-13

 

People who commit abominations against God

They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.  Titus 1:16

 

The unrepentant sinner

 

The rich who place their trust in their riches

Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;  1 Timothy 6:17

And the disciples were astonished at his words. But Jesus answereth again, and saith unto them, Children, how hard is it for them that trust in riches to enter into the kingdom of God!  Mark 10:24

Having money is not sinful; but, it is the love of money that is evil; placing your trust in riches is wrong.

We are only to place our trust in God.  Money has never and will never save anyone from death and hell.  Only God can save anyone from death and hell.  We are all saved the exact same way, by the grace of God through faith in God.

 

The fearful and unbelieving

In God have I put my trust: I will not be afraid what man can do unto me.  Psalm 56:11

 


How are we to trust in the Lord GOD?

 

Whole-heartedly

The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.  Psalm 28:7

Only fear the LORD, and serve him in truth with all your heart; for consider how great things he hath done for you.  1 Samuel 12:24

And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.  Jeremiah 29:13

Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.  Proverbs 3:5

 


What is promised by GOD to all who trust in Him?

 

Defense; Shielded from the enemy; deliverance

Shew thy marvellous lovingkindness, O thou that savest by thy right hand them which put their trust in thee from those that rise up against them.  Psalm 17:7

As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all them that trust in him.  2 Samuel 22:31

But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee.  For thou, LORD, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield.  Psalm 5:10-11

As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him.  Psalm 18:30

And the LORD shall help them, and deliver them: he shall deliver them from the wicked, and save them, because they trust in him.  Psalm 37:40

Who delivered us from so great a death, and doth deliver: in whom we trust that he will yet deliver us;  2 Corinthians 1:10

 

Safety

The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe.  Proverbs 29:25

In God have I put my trust: I will not be afraid what man can do unto me.  Psalm 56:11

 

God's mercy

Many sorrows shall be to the wicked: but he that trusteth in the LORD, mercy shall compass him about.  Psalm 32:10

 

I will not slide

Judge me, O LORD; for I have walked in mine integrity: I have trusted also in the LORD; therefore I shall not slide.  Psalm 26:1

By trusting in Jesus, we are kept from sliding into sin and sliding away from God.

 

Blessings from God

Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling.  Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.  Psalm 2:11-12

O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.  Psalm 34:8

Blessed is that man that maketh the LORD his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.  Psalm 40:4

O LORD of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee.  Psalm 84:12

Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is.  Jeremiah 17:7

 

God's goodness

Oh how great is thy goodness, which thou hast laid up for them that fear thee; which thou hast wrought for them that trust in thee before the sons of men!  Psalm 31:19

 

The desires of our heart

Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.  Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.  Psalm 37:4-5

Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;  1 Timothy 6:17

 

A new song; a better way of life

And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.  Psalm 40:3

 

Fullness of God's grace

He that is of a proud heart stirreth up strife: but he that putteth his trust in the LORD shall be made fat.  Proverbs 28:25

He that puts his trust in the LORD shall be made fat.  The "fat" talked about here is not physical weight, but fullness.  We that trust in the Lord God for all things will be enlarged to hold the fullness of God's grace and mercy and love.

 

Perfect peace

Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.  Isaiah 26:3

 

Salvation; abideth forever; eternal life

A Song of degrees. They that trust in the LORD shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abideth for ever.  Psalm 125:1

Preserve my soul; for I am holy: O thou my God, save thy servant that trusteth in thee.  Psalm 84:12

The LORD recompense thy work, and a full reward be given thee of the LORD God of Israel, under whose wings thou art come to trust.  Ruth 2:12

In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,  Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.  Ephesians 1:13-14

The LORD is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him.  Nahum 1:7

And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.  1 John 5:20

 

Happiness

He that handleth a matter wisely shall find good: and whoso trusteth in the LORD, happy is he.  Proverbs 16:20

Are you happy, truly happy with yourself and your life?  God says that whoso trusts in the LORD, happy is He.  True happiness, genuine happiness, everlasting happiness only comes from the LORD God Almighty.

Some people believe that their sin brings them happiness, their drug of choice makes them happy, their live of sin makes them happy, their money and material possessions, but this is not true happiness.  False happiness is for a limited time, maybe an hour, maybe a day, maybe years, but it is for a season.  False happiness will never last.

Genuine happiness is for eternity and can only be found through Jesus Christ, by those who trust in the LORD.

 


How do we show our trust in GOD?

 

Sin NOT and live righteously

But know that the LORD hath set apart him that is godly for himself: the LORD will hear when I call unto him.  Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah.  Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the LORD.  Psalm 4:3-5

I have hated them that regard lying vanities: but I trust in the LORD.  Psalm 31:6

Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.  Psalm 37:3

But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee.  Psalm 5:11

Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy; That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate; Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.  O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called:  Which some professing have erred concerning the faith. Grace be with thee. Amen.  1 Timothy 6:17

Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath.  Neither give place to the devil.  Ephesians 4:26-27

When we sin willfully, we give place to the devil, we give the devil entrance into our lives, we open the door of our lives to satan.

 

Stay focused on the LORD

He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the LORD.  Psalm 112:7

Nothing else in this world can save you, only the LORD God saves anyone from sin and death.

 

Do NOT serve or worship any other gods

Then Nebuchadnezzar came near to the mouth of the burning fiery furnace, and spake, and said, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, ye servants of the most high God, come forth, and come hither. Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, came forth of the midst of the fire.  Daniel 3:28

If faced with death from being placed alive in a furnace, would we trust in the Lord, like Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego?  They showed their trust in God, even though they faced the fiery furnace.

All they had to do was to worship Nebuchadnezzar, but they refused, and faced certain horrific death.  It didn't matter what their neighbors did, it didn't matter that their families did, they were focused on the Lord God, their trust in God stood firm, and their trust in the Lord God saved their lives.

By all logic and science, they should have been burnt alive, but they didn't burn, even their clothes didn't catch fire, not a hair on their heads were singed.

We can be like Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, we can show the world that we truly trust in our Lord God, by not serving, by not worshipping other gods.

 

Do not live in fear

What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee.  In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me.  Psalm 56:3-4

In God have I put my trust: I will not be afraid what man can do unto me.  Psalm 56:11

And in nothing terrified by your adversaries: which is to them an evident token of perdition, but to you of salvation, and that of God.  Philippians 1:28

Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.  Deuteronomy 31:6

The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?  Psalm 27:1

He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the LORD.  Psalm 112:7

 

Hate lying

We all know about the 10 commandments, one in particular - Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor - what we call lying, but did you know God hates lying.

Therefore I esteem all thy precepts concerning all things to be right; and I hate every false way.  Psalm 119:128

If we place our trust in the Lord God, we can show the world that we trust Him, by keeping His law, by hating what He hates, one of which is lying.

Lying is a serious matter with God; and therefore, should be of most importance to us, as His children.

Why do we lie to our self and to others?  Is it fear?  Fear of rejection, fear of being reprimanded or punished, fear of the unknown?  Remember, we are only to fear the Lord God Almighty, we are not to fear what any person can do to us here on this earth.

When we place our complete trust in our Lord God, we don't have to lie, because we know ALL THINGS are in His hands, He will protect us and He is in control of the situation, not other people or circumstances.

 

Speak the truth

Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.  Ephesians 4:25

Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.  Ephesians 4:29

Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;  Philippians 1:27

 

Be kind to each other and Forgive one another

Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:  And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.  Ephesians 4:31-32

God didn't tell us to forgive only certain people for certain things.  No, God said we are to forgive all people for all things, no exceptions.

Forgiveness, forgiving others who have wronged you, is not an option with God.  God says you must forgive others, in order to be forgiven - NO EXCEPTIONS.

We are to forgive those who trespass against us, and forget their sin, just as Christ Jesus forgave and forgot our sins.

We can forgive one another, because Christ Jesus first forgave us.  We can forgive and forget all sin against us, because as the children of God, we receive the power of God to do all things that He asks of us.

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.  I can forgive all sin, hurt, pain, that people have done to me, AND forget their sins against me, because Christ Jesus strengthens me.

I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.  Philippians 4:13

We can't forgive and forget by our will alone; but, we CAN forgive and forget with the help and strength we receive from God.

With men, by ourselves, it may be impossible to forgive others; but, NOT with God, because WITH God ALL THINGS are possible, even forgiving people who have hurt you.

And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.  Mark 10:27

We either believe the lies of the devil, who tells us that there is no way we can ever forgive certain people for what they have done to us; OR, we believe God, we trust in Jesus, who said with God all things are possible.

 

Give thanks to God for all things

We are to give thanks to God for all things, this shows we have trust in our Lord God for all things.

Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;  Ephesians 5:20

Do all things without murmurings and disputings:  Philippians 2:14

If we give thanks to God, only when things are going our way, is that really trusting in God?  No, it isn't.

When others see us trusting in God through the rough times, through the bad times, through the most horrible times of our lives, they can see our hope, our trust is truly in our Lord God.

We are lights in this dark world to the lost.  We are ambassadors of Christ in this lost world.  We are never to fall from our faith; in all things we are to trust in our Lord God. 

We want the lost of the world to see our hope, especially in the worst times of our lives, that they will want to know what is our hope and how they can have it.

None of our problems are bigger than our God.  God is greater than all of our problems put together.  Our problems are not really that important, really don't count for nothing, don't mean anything.

What is important is the knowledge we have of Christ Jesus that He is our Lord God and Saviour, and someday soon we will see Him face to face and live with Him forever.  All people saved in Christ Jesus, win in the end, we have received victory over sin and death, and our reward is Christ Jesus!!

Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,  Philippians 3:8

Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.  Philippians 3:13-14
