This is a Bible study on Works. Click here for a printable Bible Study Guide.
The dictionary states that works are the performance of moral or religious acts.
We can see the truth in the word of God, in the scriptures, where God says that:
The word of God states that all people who believe in God, be careful to maintain good works.
Good works are a product of salvation, not the cause of salvation.
The word of God clearly states that no one can receive salvation by works, because we are saved by the grace of God alone.
All people are saved from sin and death by God the exact same way, which is by grace through faith, by the grace of God through faith in God. We are NOT saved of ourselves, not of works lest any man should boast.
Salvation is the gift of God
The word of God reads that we are NOT saved by works. The word of God reads that our salvation is the gift of God.
Salvation is a gift from God. We are saved by the grace of God through faith in His Son, believing in Jesus Christ for the saving of our souls.
The word of God reads we are NOT saved by our works, so no man can boast that he has saved himself, because of something that he has done.
Man cannot save himself from sin and death. Only God saves anyone from sin and death.
Only faith in the only begotten Son of God, believing in Jesus Christ for salvation, can save anyone from death.
Only by believing in Jesus is anyone able to receive salvation, which is eternal life in the kingdom of God.
Good works is the fruit of salvation, not the root of salvation.
Salvation produces good works. Works are produced by salvation, not the cause of salvation (Ephesians 2:9). Good works can never produce salvation, because only God saves.
Simply put, we cannot be saved by our works, because God said we can't. (Titus 3:5; Ephesians 2:9; Romans 9:11)
God saves mankind all by Himself, by His Grace alone we are saved.
The who, what, when, why, where, how, with, by, because, reason and purpose of salvation are all answered in the Word of God, simply and directly by God through His love and grace to all mankind.
God says that all people are saved by Him alone, by His grace we are saved, nothing more and nothing less. Salvation is from God alone, by the grace of God alone, through faith in God alone.
Belief in anything other than the grace of God to save you is unbelief. No one can add to the grace of God for their salvation. Your works plus God's grace does not equal salvation, because God said we are saved by His grace alone, nothing else is required.
We are saved by the grace of God through faith, the faith in God to save us by His grace alone, all by Himself, not by our works (Titus 3:5).
By the grace of God we are all given the same ability to have faith in God. We are given faith by the grace of God (Romans 12:3). Only through faith in God, faith in the Grace of God to save, is anyone saved, nothing else.
Faith is from God, Grace is from God, and Salvation is from God. Salvation is not from man, we do NOT, we cannot save ourselves, we do not give ourselves salvation through our works, through our own righteousness, or by any means we have of ourselves. We cannot buy or receive any of these things (faith, grace, righteousness, salvation) by ourselves, by our own works, by our own abilities, by our own means, or by anything that we can do.
Everything we have (or think we have) and everything we are, is by the grace of God. We cannot receive, or gain salvation by our own works, because salvation is the gift of God through faith in God, and our faith is given to us from God.
Without the grace of God there is no faith. Through faith in God we can obtain salvation by the grace of God. Salvation is the gift of God. The gift of God cannot be purchased by anything that we have, or by anything that we can do. We cannot give God anything for salvation, because salvation is the gift of God.
If we could earn our salvation by our works, then it would NOT be a gift (Romans 4:4).
If we could earn our salvation by our works, then we would NOT need faith in God (Romans 4:14).
If we could earn our salvation by our works, then we would NOT need grace (Romans 11:6).
Salvation earned by works is NOT the salvation of God. If you think you are saved by your works, then you have been misled, because God said His salvation is freely given to all men by His grace alone (Romans 3:24), not of works, lest any man should boast (Ephesians 2:8-9).
There are not many ways to God, and there are not many ways to receive the salvation of God.
There is only one way to receive the salvation of God (John 14:6), though faith in His Son Christ Jesus (Galatians 3:26), through faith in God's grace alone to save you, by grace ye are saved (Ephesians 2:5).
Nothing any man can do is accepted by God for a sacrifice of our sins, nothing.
Because of the sin of the first man created (Adam), all human beings are born into sin, and sin results in death.
Every person born is a sinner. Every human being born in this world has sin and the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23). We all have sin because we all come short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23).
Because of sin, no one can enter heaven in their sinful form (all sin must be removed by the salvation of God in order to enter the presence of God).
God is without sin and sin cannot live with God, therefore sinful man cannot live with God.
The end result of a sinful life is death and eternal separation from God. But if we believe the grace of God can save us from sin and death, if we believe in Jesus Christ for the salvation of our souls, then we can receive forgiveness of sin and receive eternal life with God forever.
Because of the sin of man, God sent His only begotten Son, Jesus, to pay the price of our sin.
A sacrifice of blood has always been a symbol of remission for sin and used as an offering to God for the sins of man. In the Old Testament, the priests would take the sin offerings of the people of God, and sacrifice them on an alter, shedding the blood of the animals.
The Old Testament sin offerings (Leviticus), by the shedding of blood from animals was required from the people for offerings to God for their sins. The shed blood of these animals as offerings to God, precluded a permanent solution, a permanent sacrifice, a once for all sacrifice of blood that would be shed by Christ Jesus on His cross, a sinless sacrifice once for all the sins of all the people of all the world, for all time (Hebrews 9:19-28).
Jesus Christ's coming to earth in the image of man, living as a man, walking on this earth, teaching the gospel, teaching the multitudes, healing the sick, lame, and blind, curing the diseased, raising the dead to new life, His miracles and His ministry, His crucifixion, His shed blood, His earthly human body death, His burial, His resurrection, His teaching on the earth after His resurrection, His ascension into Heaven to sit on the right hand of God the Father as Jesus Christ, eternally God the Son, was ALL the plan of God for the purpose of reconciling mankind to Him, so that mankind could be washed of sin completely, be forgiven of all sins, and be able to spend eternity with God in His Heavenly Paradise.
Only the Holy sinless sacrifice of God Himself could pay the price of sin for all the people of this world for all time, a one-time sacrifice for all sin, for all people, for all time, once for all. (Hebrews 10:10) No one can take away your sins, except God (Hebrews 10:11).
The one offering, the offering of the shed blood of Christ Jesus, one sacrifice for sins forever, not to be repeated, made is possible for us to receive the salvation of God, to be sanctified, forgiven, washed clean of all sin, and to be reconciled to God for eternity (Hebrews 10:12-14).
Nothing else was acceptable to God for the sins of all the people of the world, except the sacrifice of His Holy Begotten Beloved Son, Jesus. God alone was able to make the ultimate permanent blood sacrifice for all sin, for all mankind, for all time.
The only one without sin, Jesus, paid the ransom for all people's sins. Jesus paid the price for all the sins of the world once and for all people (Hebrews 10:10), never to be repeated again.
Hallelujah! Christ Jesus died once to sin and He dieth NO MORE!!!
Jesus paid the price in full, nothing else is required from anyone who believes in God.
God manifest Himself in the flesh, as Jesus Christ the man, to be a living sacrifice for our sins, to redeem us, to justify us to Himself (2 Corinthians 5:18-19).
The blood that Jesus shed on the cross, when He was crucified, washed away the sins of any person who will believe in Jesus for their salvation.
The death of Jesus destroyed satan's power over the lives of everyone who will believe in Jesus for their salvation.
The resurrection of Jesus gives eternal life to everyone who believes in Jesus for their salvation.
There is nothing a man can do to be saved, we are NOT saved by our works.
The debt for sin has already been paid. There are no more works to be finished for salvation. Jesus, the Son of God, paid the only debt for our sins, there are no other works to be done for salvation, because Jesus Christ finished all the works for salvation on His cross. Jesus was the only payment for sin that God would accept.
Works cannot save anyone, because before salvation you have no works to give. No person has any righteous works acceptable to God before they are saved, because before salvation everyone is unrighteous. We receive righteousness only after we are saved, not before, therefore our works are unrighteous (before salvation) and unaccepted by God.
The life sacrifice that Jesus gave us is the only way that we could be forgiven of our sins and made worthy to enter the presence of God, inherit the kingdom of God, and receive everlasting life.
We are accepted by God the Father only through the Beloved, Jesus.
No one is saved by works
God saves, not works. God alone saves people, nothing or no one else. The first person saved to the last person saved, will be saved the same way, by God alone, by looking to God, by having faith in God to save us, we are saved by God.
We are all saved by God and only by God, by looking to Him, by believing that He alone can save us from sin and death.
Every person ever saved is saved the exact same way by looking to God and by the grace of God, alone.
The grace of God enables us to receive faith in God, faith in God enables us to receive His grace to believe in God and all He is and all He says to receive the salvation of God. Faith and grace, grace and faith are joined, intermingled, connected. Grace and faith are from God, as all good things are from God.
We are saved by grace, nothing more and nothing less. (Ephesians 2:5, 8)
All people who believe in Jesus Christ are saved by the grace of God, and NOT by works. By faith in Christ Jesus we are the children of God.
We are all saved the exact same way, by the grace of God through faith in God. That's it, nothing else. There is no other way to receive salvation except by grace through faith, because salvation is the gift of God.
God says we are NOT saved by works, lest any man should boast.
Salvation is the gift of God. God freely gives His gift of salvation to anyone who will believe on His Son, Jesus.
Salvation by grace is the perfect plan of God
No one - has in the past, now, or in the future - can be saved by themselves, or through anyone other than Christ Jesus. Why? Because salvation by grace through faith in Christ Jesus is the perfect plan of God. Salvation cannot be acquired by works, so no man can boast that he received salvation by himself.
No one is justified by any works of God's law. We are saved by grace through the faith of Jesus Christ and when we believe in Jesus Christ, we are justified by the faith of Christ. We are NOT saved by the works of the law of God. By the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.
We are all justified, saved, the exact same way - by the grace of God through faith in Christ Jesus.
Only by the grace of God through Christ Jesus is any person saved. Not by works of righteousness we have done, but according to God's mercy He saved us.
Only by faith in Jesus Christ are we saved
Believe in God and receive salvation. We are saved only through faith in Jesus Christ.
Believing that Jesus Christ is the Son of the Living God is the only way to eternal life.
By grace are we saved. Only by the grace of God through faith in God is anyone saved. There is only one God and one grace by which we are saved, the grace of God, through the grace of Christ Jesus we are saved.
Jesus Christ is the way, the door, the truth, the name on which any human being can be saved and is saved.
Everyone enters Heaven the same way, through faith in God. By the grace of God through faith in God we are saved.
If you do not believe in Jesus Christ to salvation, you are not saved, and will not receive eternal life, and will not inherit the kingdom of God.
God says that we must come to God and we must believe that He is all who He says that He is in His word, without such faith it is impossible to please Him.
Why do some people still believe that they can be saved by their works?
So many people of this world still believe that they can be saved by their own works. Why do these people believe what they do? and what does God say?
Many people believe that they are saved by their works because:
For whatever reason, people who believe that they can be saved by God through their own works are believing a lie, because God said Himself that no one is saved by their own works. God says that these people have been deceived by the devil to believe a lie.
Learn the truth of God yourself, don't rely on someone else for your salvation, it is much too important. No one can save you except God.
Never rely on anyone for your salvation, because no one except God can save you, no one but God has salvation to give to you.
Salvation belongs to God, God owns salvation no one else can give to you what belongs to God. Your parents cannot give you salvation, your church cannot give you salvation, your pastor, priest, bishop, teacher, leader, cannot give you salvation, NO ONE is this world can give you the salvation of God, because salvation belongs to God and only God can give it to you. Salvation is the gift of God.
No one is responsible for your salvation except you; meaning when you stand before God at the day of judgment, and God asks you "why you thought that your works would save you", you can't say because so and so told me so.
You are given your own mind by God, your own free will to choose for yourself. Free will is a gift from God to every human being.
God calls everyone to Him. God gives us all the ability to have faith in Him alone for salvation (Romans 12:3).
We are all given the ability to accept the truth of God personally, in our own hearts and in our own minds.
God does not need any translator for His message, because God speaks directly to our hearts, God speaks to our spirit. God's salvation does not need to be explained, because even a child can understand God's love and gift of salvation.
All people hear the call of God, to come to Him, to accept Him into their lives, to receive His free gift of salvation, eternal life.
God will not accept any excuses at your day of judgment. God has told us all that we will all be judged one day. We will either be accepted for rejected by God based on if we accepted or rejected His free gift of salvation.
When you stand in front of God on our day of judgment, it will not matter what your family told you to believe, or that your church or denomination believed a certain way, or that your mother prayed for you, or you read something in a book, or your spouse said you had to believe what he did, or that you did this or that, certain works all your life, nothing matters except your accepting the grace of God alone through faith for the salvation of your soul, nothing else is valid, everything else is void.
Will people who believe in works for salvation go to heaven?
Will all the people who believe that they are saved by their works, go to Heaven? Are they saved?
Our hope of salvation is in God alone, nothing and/or no one else. Believing in your works to gain you salvation, is putting your faith in something other than God, and voids salvation. Works do not equal salvation. Faith plus works do not equal salvation. Grace plus nothing equals salvation.
Our saving faith is to be in God alone, nothing or no one else. Faith in works voids salvation, because we are to have faith in the grace of God alone to save us completely and fully. God is able to save us all by Himself - nothing else is needed.
Think about it this way, if a person says that they want to make sure that they are saved, so they believe in everything, every religion known to man, are they saved? The word of God reads no.
God says we are to abide in His word, His doctrine, His gospel. We are not to practice the doctrines of men, any doctrine contrary to the word of God is to be avoided at all costs (Romans 16:17).
God says that ALL people who preach anything other than the doctrine of Christ Jesus, the doctrine of God, DO NOT SERVE our Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 16:18). Salvation by works is contrary to the word of God. Salvation by works is false doctrine.
God says that there is only one way to Him, through faith in His Son, Jesus Christ (John 14:6). So whether you believe in two ways to God, or a thousand, you are still believing in something other than one God and one way to receive salvation.
When someone believes in anything other than salvation by grace through faith in the one true living God, they are canceling out their belief in God - "Whosoever transgresseth and abideth NOT in the doctrine of Christ, hath NOT God."
We are never to add to or subtract from the Words of God (Revelation 22:18-19). When someone adds to God's perfect plan of salvation, with works, sacrifice, mantras, rituals, anything, they are telling God His way is not right, His way is lacking, His way is not complete.
God's perfect plan of salvation, which is by grace through faith and NOT OF WORKS, is complete. We do not need to add anything to the work of God.
When you think about it that way, it is extremely arrogant to assume that anyone can add anything to the work of God, or that God needs anything from anyone.
We see through God's Holy Word that doing works for salvation has nothing to do with God, because God said that Jesus finished the works for salvation on His cross (John 19:30).
What God has completed is complete, nothing more is required.
At the judgment throne God will look at every person, and we will all be judged, if we do not have the blood of the Lamb, Jesus Christ, on us, the Lord will tell us to "depart from Me, I never knew you".
The will of God is for everyone to obtain salvation through faith Jesus Christ (1 Thessalonians 5:9).
We are known by God through faith in Christ Jesus, nothing else makes us become the children of God (Galatians 3:26).
No one is saved by their own works (Titus 3:5-7).
Do you want to work the works of God? The works of God is when we believe on Jesus, whom God sent to us.
What does God want us to do? This is what God wants us to do - believe on Jesus whom He sent. God wants all the world to have faith in Him and to obtain salvation.
God does NOT want anyone to perish (2 Peter 3:9). God does NOT want any person to die without Him, to be separated from Him for all eternity.
God desires that ALL people obtain salvation by faith in Christ Jesus (1 Thessalonians 5:9).
The word of God talks about our fruits, are these "fruits", our "works"? Why does the scriptures say "fruits"?
The word of God was written in such a way to be understood by many different people all over the world. Most everyone has seen fruit, or have eaten fruit and understands how fruit is grown and harvested. Every country, nation, and people farm for food.
Seeds are sown and reaped. We sow seeds, the seeds grow into a plant that bears fruit, and then we reap the harvest.
The word fruit is used for simplicity, understanding and clarity.
Our fruit is what is produced through us by God, what comes forth from our lives, what is shown to the world, and harvested by God.
The word of God reads that the saved in Christ Jesus, His children are known by their fruits, what comes from out of them, what they say and do in their lives.
When we see a tree without any fruit, we may not know what kind of tree it is just by looking at it, but when we see the fruit on the tree, we immediately know what type of tree it is by its fruit.
The fruit produced on the tree shows us what kind of tree it is, as apples on a tree are the proof that it is an apple tree. Oranges do not grow on an apple tree.
And we must note, that the apples on the tree do not make it an apple tree. The apple tree was an apple tree without the fruit.
The apple tree does not need the apples to make it an apple tree, it was an apple tree without bearing fruit, but all can see it is an apple tree because it produces apples.
God does not need us to be God. God has always been God. God has always existed. God can live without us, but we cannot live without God.
God is God without us, but we are NOT the children of God, without God.
The apple tree is not dependent upon the apples, but the apples are dependent upon the apple tree.
God is not dependent on anyone for His existence; but, we are dependent on God for our life. We need God in order to exist.
With God we are able to produce good fruits, good works. We are able to produce good works because of God.
Without God we are unable to produce good works.
The children of God produce good works because they are of God, through Christ Jesus we are saved.
Good works cannot make anyone saved, because only God saves.
We are the children of God because of the grace of God, by grace through faith we are saved (Ephesians 2:8).
Good works cannot and does not make someone a child of God. Good works cannot give anyone salvation, only God gives salvation.
The children of God are known by their fruits, what is produced, what comes out of them, their works and actions.
So, just what are some of the fruits, the good works, produced by saving faith in Christ Jesus?
The fruit of the saved is righteousness. The children of God show forth the righteousness of Christ. The righteousness of Christ shines through the children of God out to the world.
The fruit of the wicked, the unbelieving, the lost, is sin. As the children of the Most High God we are to be separated unto God AND separated away from sin. The children of God have no business with sin, we are to separate ourselves from all unrighteousness.
Just as a branch cannot bear fruit unless is it attached to the tree, the children of God cannot bear fruit unless we are attach to Christ, abide in Christ, walk with Christ, live in Christ (John 15:4-8).
The Spirit of God lives inside every believer through faith. The fruit of the Spirit is produced through the children of God through faith. The fruit of the Spirit produced by the children of God is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance.
The word of God reads we will eat the fruit of our doings. We will reap what we sow.
God promises to all people, that we will reap exactly what we sow. We will either reap death or reap life, according to our decisions made while we are alive.
If we sow unrighteousness by rejecting Jesus and living in sin, we will reap eternal death, because the wages of sin is death.
If we sow righteousness by accepting Jesus as our Lord and Saviour and living in the Spirit, we will reap everlasting life.
Corruption cannot inherit incorruption. Unrighteousness cannot inherit righteousness. The unbelieving cannot inherit eternal life. The wicked and sinful will NOT enter heaven.
The children of God can bring forth good fruit because we are branches attached to the true vine, who is Christ Jesus of the tree of life.
The children of God can do nothing by themselves, we live by Jesus, and only by abiding in Christ can we live forever.
Just like the branch cannot bear fruit by itself without being connected and attached to the vine of the tree.
Only by attachment to the true vine, Jesus Christ, can we bear good fruit.
By bearing much fruit, we glorify God the Father and are disciples of Christ.
The lost people of the world are servants of sin and free from righteousness. The end for the lost, for all unrighteousness, is eternal death and separation from God for eternity.
The children of God are servants of God Almighty and made free from sin and have fruit unto holiness and the end will receive everlasting life and will be with God for eternity.
The lost, all who have sin that has not been purged, will receive eternal death in hell.
The children of God have received salvation, which is the gift of God and eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
The children of God are to increase the fruits of our righteousness.
What are the "fruits of righteousness"?
Our fruits multiply in our lives by not only living in the Spirit of God but by doing the will of God by walking in the Spirit every day of our lives.
The children of God were all once living in darkness, like the lost, but now we live in the Light of Jesus Christ and walk as the children of the Light.
We are to walk in the Spirit in all goodness and righteousness and truth.
It is NOT acceptable to God to fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness.
We are to minister, witness, teach the lost, instruct them to the truth, to the Light which is Jesus Christ our Lord, but we are not to fellowship with them and join in with their sinful lives in darkness.
Before we look at the types of works, let us look at the types of people who do good works or bad works.
The word of God reads there are two types of people:
The carnal minded, all people who live after the flesh, pursue sin, do not cease from sin, will die.
The born again, who die to all sin, cease from sin will live, because they live in the Spirit, pursue righteousness and godliness and holiness.
The Spirit and the sin of the flesh are against each other.
The Spiritual body and the carnal flesh body cannot live harmoniously together, because they war against each other. You are either living in the Spirit of God or in the flesh of sin, you cannot be in both.
Lost; Carnal minded; in the flesh; Natural man
Those that are carnal minded are God's enemy. Those that are carnal minded live in the flesh, live for sin and cannot please God.
The carnal man does NOT have wisdom from God above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish. The carnal man cannot know the things of the Spirit, because they are foolish to him.
Unbelievers do NOT have the Spirit of God.
The works of a carnal man is sin minded, self minded.
Believers of Christ; the Saved; Spiritually minded; Spirit
Believers of Christ do NOT live in the flesh, do NOT live for sin; believers live in the Spirit of God. Believers are spiritually minded.
God says those who have received salvation are no longer in bondage to the flesh, which is sin and death.
As believers of Christ, we died with Jesus on the cross to our flesh, to our sins. Believers of Christ are NOT to sin and NOT to live in the flesh, not to pursue sin and not to live in sin.
Jesus Christ paid the ultimate price for our sins, He gave His life so we might live.
The only price, the only sacrifice that God would accept in exchange for the sins of the world, was the life of one who never sinned, Jesus, the Son of God.
We were released from the bondage of sin and the devil, through the blood of Christ Jesus that was shed, and through His death and through the resurrection of Jesus, we can receive life eternal.
When we are saved, we are born-again into the Spirit of God. When we are saved, we put on the Spirit of God, it becomes our spirit. Our spirit has been washed clean. We no longer have a wicked and unclean spirit of the flesh, we have a new clean Spirit of God.
Those that are NOT saved, those that are NOT born in the Spirit, have an unclean spirit and do not know God, and cannot know God, unless they believe.
We are saved by the mercy of God, by the grace of God through faith in God, NOT by works, but by the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Ghost INSIDE of us, our Spirit is reborn.
Walk in the Spirit not after the sins of the flesh. Without the Spirit of God, without Jesus Christ you have condemned yourself.
Our trust and our confidence is in our Lord GOD Almighty alone, not in anything or anyone else.
Those that worship God in the spirit and live for Christ, do NOT have any confidence in the flesh and do NOT live for the flesh.
Believers have no confidence in the flesh, in our works. Our faith, our confidence is in God alone.
The believer of Christ Jesus has wisdom from God above.
How to tell which type of person you are? Are you carnal minded or spiritual minded? Are you of God or of the devil?
What we do in our lives, reveals who we are. What we pursue, what we hold precious, our passions, what we love, what we treasure, what we do, how we live, how we treat and act towards others, reveals who we are, which is either of the flesh, or of the Spirit.
We are all either with God and of the Spirit, or without God and of the flesh; we are either for God or against God.
The scriptures tell us NOT to be deceived, that what a man does with his life is what he will receive in the end - whatsoever a man sows - he shall reap. Notice the scriptures do not say, that we are who we are because of what we say; no, the word of God reads that we are who we are by what we do, how we live our lives.
If we say we are a Christian, say that we are saved, but live to the flesh, live in sin, we are only deceiving ourselves. Words do NOT make anyone a Christian, salvation is faith from our heart, believe in God with all your heart is salvation, not words. Verbal words saves no one. Salvation is a change of heart, a regeneration, a renewing of the spirit of our inner soul.
Whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
If you live to the flesh, a life full of sin, wickedness, ungodliness, iniquity, and unrighteousness, you will receive eternal death, which is separation from God for eternity.
If we live in the flesh, we condemn ourselves to death, and in the end we will receive corruption, eternal death without God.
If we live to the Spirit, we will receive incorruption, life everlasting with God.
BE NOT DECEIVED; GOD IS NOT MOCKED.
Are you deceived? Are you mocking God?
Many people today are deceived and many people today mock God, by saying that they are a Christian, but living for the devil in wickedness and sin.
God says His children cannot sin. If you are living in sin, pursuing sin, living in the lusts of the flesh, you are NOT a child of God.
When the children of God receive salvation, we are saved from sin and death. Sin is no longer the ruler of our lives. Jesus Christ is the Master of the lives of the children of God. The saved have crucified sin in their lives, sin is dead.
The scriptures say like trees producing fruit, the fruit (the works) that we produce show who we are either good or evil.
This Scripture tells us that what you produce, the way you live, the fruit you bring forth, by your works show who you are - either a child of God - or a child of the devil.
The carnal man, the sinful man, living in the flesh, cannot bring forth good works, because living in sin only produces more sin and evil things.
The spiritual man, the righteous man, living in the Spirit, cannot bring forth evil works, because living in the Spirit, walking in the Spirit produces spiritual things. Living in the Spirit only produces spiritual things.
Wherefore by our fruits, our works, we are known. The life we produce, what comes out of our living for God, is our works.
If we are not saved by good works, why should we do any?
Many people like to make up their own salvation rules, that if they are NOT saved by works, then they don't have to do any, BUT this is NOT what God says. (Romans 10:3).
God tells us in His word that without works our faith is dead (James 2:26). Righteousness and obedience to God is always produced by true salvation. Good works are a product of salvation, but not the cause of salvation.
When God gives us life, He breathes life into our bodies, our bodies respond by working, by breathing. It is a fact that without breathing in oxygen into our bodies we die. Our bodies work at breathing every second of the day. Breathing is produced by life. We don't think about breathing, we don't work at breathing, breathing is the reaction to life.
It is a fact, that when we quit breathing our human bodies die. Breathing is the works of our bodies to sustain life. You could say life without works is dead, the works being breathing, but we don't force ourselves to breath, we breath as a response to life. Life produces breathing, life without breathing is death. But our breathing did not produce our life, God did that all on His own, God is the Creator of life. Breathing is produced by life, not the other way around. We are not the creator of our own life, just because we started breathing. God alone is responsible for our life, breathing is a product of God giving us life. This is how we can understand works.
Works cannot and do not save anyone. Yes, faith without works is dead, but works is not faith, just as breathing is not life. We are given the measure of faith by trusting in the grace of God as the complete source of our salvation. Faith is gifted to us by God by believing in His grace alone to save us. Good works are produced from the measure of faith that God gifts to us when we trust in Him completely to the saving of our souls. Our works do not create faith, but our works are the product of faith, just like breathing is the product of life.
As breathing is essential to life, so is works essential to faith. And as breathing is produced by life, so are good works produced by faith. But just as breathing does not create life, God does, just as works do not give salvation, God does. God gives us life all by Himself, nothing is needed by us, just as God gives us salvation all by Himself, and nothing is needed by us.
Life is not life without breathing, and faith is not faith without works, BUT faith is not works, one is the product of the other. Works is the product of faith, but faith is NOT the product of works. Good works cannot produce faith, BUT faith does produce good works.
This is what is meant by faith without works is dead. Works can never produce faith, but true, genuine faith always produces good works.
God is the only source of faith. Only God gives faith. We do not and cannot create faith, we cannot give faith to another.
God created faith and only God can give anyone faith. Faith is the gift of God, received from God, and is to be given back to God. We all receive faith the same way, as a gift from God, God gives every person the measure of faith (Romans 12:3).
God says that we cannot know Him and live in unrighteousness. God says that ALL unrighteousness is sin. Sin is utmost serious with God. God says that the wages of sin is death, meaning all people who choose sin over His righteousness will die and spend eternity separated from Him. No one is exempt from the word of God. God is not prejudice, God does not regard the name, the title, the position, the success of any person, God is no respecter of persons (Acts 10:34).
The devil has led many people away from God, into believing his lie, that if a person has a "title", or certain "name", "membership", or "religious affiliation", that they are exempt from the wrath of God, but this is NOT what God says. NO title or name has ever saved anyone from hell. We are never to place our trust or our faith in a title or name or membership, our faith is to be in God alone.
DO NOT BE DECEIVED, God is not swayed by a person's affiliation with a certain group or denominational affiliation, or membership, or title, or position, or name. God looks directly into the person's heart and soul, not at what they call themselves. God is the only one who will judge the people of this world. The judgment of God is based on our affiliation to Him. Our salvation from sin and death is based on our relationship with the only begotten Son of God, Jesus Christ, and based on His righteousness that we receive by being washed in the blood of Jesus, by coming to the cross of God and accepting everlasting life through faith in Jesus Christ for the salvation of our souls. God sees two types of people, the just and the unjust. We are either just or unjust in the eyes of God. We are either lost or saved in the eyes of God. We are either believers or unbelievers in the eyes of God.
All people who have been to the cross of Christ Jesus, been washed in His blood, accept His salvation, accept Him as their Lord and Saviour, are a new creature, born-again, converted from sin to righteousness through faith in Jesus, and God says the just will live by faith, not by sin (Hebrews 10:38).
The children of God do not live in unrighteousness and sin against God (1 John 3:10). The children of God live in faith to God all the days of our lives. Our assurance of the salvation of God is our righteousness (1 John 2:29), received through faith in Jesus. God says that His children are known by their fruits of righteousness (Philippians 1:11). God says that all people know who are His and who are the devil's children by their allegiance to whom they serve. God says who we obey is who we serve, either we obey and serve the devil by living in sin and unrighteousness, or we obey and serve God by living in righteousness and following the ways of His Son, Jesus Christ.
It is true that we are NOT saved by our own means, we are NOT saved by our works (Titus 3:5). It is true that we are NOT saved by our obedience to God, BUT obedience to Christ always follows genuine salvation.
Obedience is the product of salvation, not the other way around. Salvation is NOT the product of works. Good works always follow genuine salvation. True salvation always produces good works.
Salvation is not born out of our good works, but good works are born out of salvation.
We cannot live for God on Sunday and live for the devil the rest of the week. There is no unrighteousness in God. Sin is unrighteousness. All who commit sin are the servants of sin (John 8:34). The servants of sin are the unrighteous (Romans 6:20). There is no righteousness in sin.
We know that we are saved and love the Lord our God and others (John 13:34,35), when we follow Him daily (Matthew 16:24; Luke 9:23), we know we love Him because we obey His word (John 14:15), we continue in His word (John 8:31), we know we will live forever in Heaven because we follow His will (John 8:51). Eternal life is preceded by obedience and good works, which are produced by salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.
The faithful in Christ Jesus will inherit the crown of righteousness (2 Timothy 4:8; James 1:12). Unrighteous people will NOT inherit the crown of righteousness (2 Timothy 4:8), because corruption cannot inherit incorruption (1 Corinthians 15:50). God promises us all, that we will reap what we sow (Galatians 6:7), righteousness will reap life and unrighteousness will reap death (Galatians 6:8). DO NOT BE DECEIVED, no one can be unrighteous and inherit righteousness, the unrighteous will NOT inherit the Kingdom of God (1 Corinthians 6:9). No one is unrighteous and righteous, we are either one or the other.
Those who do NOT love God will NOT spend eternity with Him. People who love the LORD God will spend eternity with Him, and we know we love the Lord God when we keep His commandments (1 John 2:5; 5:3).
The good works of the Spirit is all righteousness.
Fruit of the Spirit
The fruit of the Spirit of God is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance. The fruit of the Spirit of God is all goodness and all righteousness and all truth.
As believers of Christ, we have also crucified the flesh and now live and walk in the Spirit of God.
Work of the Lord
Always abounding in the work of the Lord.
All who labor in the work of the Lord will be granted rest in the kingdom of God (Matthew 11:28; Hebrews 4:9-11).
As believers our work of the Lord is laboring for the souls of men, telling the wondrous works of God, spreading the good news of the gospel of Christ Jesus to all people in all the world, and remaining in faith of Christ Jesus all the days of our lives. The labor in the work of the Lord will not perish but will endure into everlasting life.
What can I do to do the works of God? Believe on Jesus (John 6:28-29).
Our faith in Christ Jesus is not in vain, all labor for the Lord God is never meaningless (1 Corinthians 15:58).
The evil works of the flesh is all unrighteousness, which no one should do, which is all sin. All sin attaches us to the devil.
The eternal fate of the devil is sealed and known by all who read the word of God. The devil will be cast into the lake of fire and brimstone and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever (Revelation 20:10). Whosoever is attached to the devil will have the same fate - they will also be cast into the lake of fire for all eternity (Revelation 20:15). The devil, the beast, the antichrist, the false prophet, the fallen angels, and all workers of iniquity will have the same exact fate, will spend eternity separated from God, will experience the second death, will be cast into everlasting fire (Matthew 26:41), where they will spend all eternity.
All unrighteousness is sin (1 John 5:17).
Note the destination of those who pursue the works of the flesh - they which do such things will NOT inherit the kingdom of God.
Do not be deceived by satan, ALL people who pursue unrighteousness, live daily in sin, will receive the wrath of God, eternal separation from God.
You will reap what you sow, God promises all people an inheritance based on His righteousness, eternal life or eternal death.
Know that every person will receive a reward according to their works.
The works of righteousness
The works of Jesus
The word of God tells us, that people who believes on Jesus will do the works of Jesus and even greater works than he did.
We are to take up our cross and follow Jesus, that means doing what he did, living a righteous life, spreading the true Gospel of Christ.
The work of the Lord
The work of the Lord is not labor in vain, but the work of the flesh profits nothing. So why would anyone pursue the works that are without worth?
Living in the Spirit of God
God doesn't want us just to say that we are saved, as that was the end of our salvation, God wants us to walk in the Spirit every day. This scripture tells us that God knows we can be saved and living it, living in the Spirit, but not all saved people show it by walking every day in the Spirit of God.
God came to earth to save us from sin and death and to give us life more abundantly.
Many people who are saved, stopped after their salvation, they never went any further to learn about the richness of God.
Our salvation is not the end, our salvation is the beginning!!
Salvation is the first step, on the straight and narrow path to knowing God, to receiving the favors of God, to receiving the blessings of God that He wants to give us. God is waiting on us to ask for His fullness. God is waiting to pour His favor and blessings, His riches and fullness on all of His beloved, all of His precious children.
We need to expand our knowledge of God and receive His fullness that He wants to give to all His children. God wants to pour His love, His fullness, and His blessings, pour them on you and on me - His children - immerse us and cover us in His fullness all the days of our lives.
God wants to give you fullness of life and an abundant life, beyond your wildest dreams!! All we need to do is receive it. God is a living fountain of water, waiting to quench our thirst, bathe us in His Glory! Halleluiah!! Praise the LORD my God!! Jesus Christ is Lord!! He reigns forever!!
Don't just say you are saved, show it, do the works of the Lord!!
Showing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity, sound speech
Many times I think, we forget that we are the chosen of God, to be His representatives here on earth, to the lost of this world.
The saved in Christ are a pattern of God, we are His pattern, to show the world just how wonderful and glorious He is, by living a life worthy to Him.
By the way we live our life, in everything that we do, every word, every action, people need to see Jesus in us. The lost of the world are looking at us for an answer.
The lost are searching for God every day, do they see God in us? We are to live our lives in a manner that people see Jesus in us, they can see our joy and our hope and ask us for the reason of it.
And when they ask for the reason of our hope, we can tell them about our most precious treasure, our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, who is the reason for our hope in this life.
All things pertaining to life and godliness
Works worthy for repentance
By the grace of God through faith in God, we have been saved from sin and death.
Through accepting the free gift of God, which is salvation, we have been saved from sin and death. Sin and death has been purged from our lives forever.
This is a miracle!! Think about it. Salvation is a miracle!!
We were never worthy, we never deserved salvation, we never should have been able to receive eternal life, but we did!!! By the mercy and grace of God we are saved!!
God loves us so much, that He gave to us His most precious beloved Son, His only begotten Son, to pay the price for our sins, to redeem our lives, to set us free from sin and death, that we might not perish but receive everlasting life with Him, sharing His Glory in the Paradise of Heaven forever, as His own, God's own sons and daughters, inheriting His Kingdom for all eternity!!
This scriptures tell us that our works should be worthy of our repentance.
When we are saved from our life of sin, by the grace of God through faith in Jesus Christ, we are forgiven of all our past sins.
We are not forgiven for only a few sins, but ALL our past sins, everything.
Do we take our forgiveness for granted? Have we become complacent about our miracle, the gift of God, salvation?
When we receive the free gift of salvation, we accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour of our life, and all of our sins are removed. Scriptures say God remembers all our sins no more. We are no longer under the bondage of sin when we are saved.
When we are saved, we no longer live in the lust of the flesh, but in the Spirit of God. We are to sin no more. Sin is our enemy. Be angry at sin and sin not.
We repent and turn away from our sins.
If we sin against God, after we are saved, we must ask God for his forgiveness with a repentant heart AND we must turn away from that sin. We must not repeat that sin again. Repentance is always change. Repentance is turning from sin to God.
If we have true repentance for our sins, stop sinning, Jesus is faithful to forgive us of our sins.
By the life we live, after we repent, we show God works worthy of his forgiveness, works worthy for repentance.
All unrighteous works
Remember, God says that ALL unrighteousness is sin. Sin has and never will enter the kingdom of God. God does not live with sin. We must purge sin from our lives, we must depart from all sin, and we must not be associated with sin or even the appearance of sin.
Works of the Flesh
We as believers of Christ are NOT to be living in the flesh.
Believers of Christ are not to be doing the works of the flesh, which is anything unrighteous, which is sin.
Works of sin
We should NOT do any works of sin.
What is sin? All unrighteousness is sin.
Envying and strive
There are many people who we can look up to, follow their example, in the word of God.
Abraham, an example of faith by works
One great example of faith by works, is the faith showed by Abraham, when God asked him to sacrifice his precious son.
Abraham just didn't say he had faith, he showed he had faith by his works.
What good would it have done, if Abraham said to God, "I have faith that I could sacrifice my son for you", and not actually do what God told him. His faith without works would have been dead, meaningless.
Abraham's faith was made perfect by his works. He literally put his son on a sacrificial alter and was ready to kill his own beloved son, because God asked him. What he showed God was his faith, and not just by words, but by doing it, by his actions, by his works. Abraham showed faith by works.
(Of course we know that God interceded and told Abraham not to kill his son.)
This is a perfect example of faith by works, of works by doing what God says to do (God's will) and not simply saying that you would. Saying is not doing. Words are not works. Words are not deeds. Works are deeds.
Abraham's faith was made perfect by his works, by doing God's will. Of course he started with faith, believing that everything would be okay, because he trusted God. His faith was justified by his works.
These scriptures tell us that faith is not just words, but actions.
If we believe it - then we must live it - and not just say it.
Our works for the Kingdom of God come after salvation, not before. Faith without works is dead, but our works for God are only acceptable after we receive His salvation.
Faith without works is dead.
God never said we are to stop at salvation. God never said once that we receive salvation and that's it, you don't have to do anything else.
God does tell us we are to never stop working out our own salvation.
The scriptures say we are to be careful to maintain good works.
We are to keep working our faith and doing good works until the Lord returns or until we die, whichever happens first.
The will of God is for all people who believe in HIM, will affirm constantly that we are careful to maintain good works.
God said we are never to stop growing our faith and strengthening our faith.
God says we are to show good works and endure until the end of our life or until the second coming of Christ, whichever comes first.
Jesus Christ can come back to earth any day, including today.
We are to hold onto our faith, remain righteous, sinless, endure until the end, whether the end is our death, or if we are still alive at the second coming of Christ.
Many people believe that since we are saved through faith and NOT of works, then they do NOT need works. Yes, the word of God does say that no one is saved by works, not of yourselves, not of works, lest any man should boast, but the word of God does say we are to maintain good works.
God said we are NOT saved by works, but He never said that we are NOT to have good works. In fact, God said the opposite, God says that as His own, we are to maintain good works, we are to be zealous of good works, and we are to constantly affirm good works.
God says that our faith without works is dead.
We know from the scriptures of God, that NO ONE is saved by works, by anything that we can do for God, or any works that we may perform, so what does it mean that our faith without works is dead.
Salvation without works is dead
Our salvation is a gift from God through faith in His Son, Jesus Christ. Salvation is the works of God.
Just like we exercise and workout to have a physically healthy heart and body, we must also work out our spiritual heart to strengthen and grow our faith.
The word of God reads we are saved through faith and not by works. A lot of people like to stop right there - at that scripture - and base their whole religion and salvation on that scripture, which is not all that God said.
No one can work their way to God, no one can do anything by themselves and receive salvation.
The word of God goes on even further and says that our faith without works is dead. Is your faith dead? How do we build our faith? By the word of God.
It is true that we are NOT saved by works, but God said faith without works is dead. Meaning God's plan for us, God's will is for us all is to increase in our faith and works.
These scriptures tell us, if we have true faith, then we will have works. No amount of works, grants anyone salvation. Good works are a product of salvation. Good works are produced by salvation. We are created in Christ Jesus to good works.
Faith does not exist alone.
Faith and works are a team, they are a packaged set, just like life and breathing are a team.
When you have faith in Christ and you receive salvation, what you do with your salvation is your works. Your life lived after salvation by faith are your works. The life we live after salvation is our works. Works are not one single action, not a work, but works is your complete lifetime of living in faith to God.
My works is my life after salvation. My works is everything that I have done since receiving the salvation of God, throughout my entire lifetime, until the day I see God face to face.
My works consist of faith in God, believing in Jesus Christ to salvation, my prayer life, my fellowship with other believers, my study of the word of God, the righteousness of Christ shining through me to others around me every day, my help and compassion for the poor and needy, my church attendance and support, application of the ways of Christ in my life, placing God above all else in my life, acknowledgment of sin, confession of sin and repentance of all sin, obedience to the word of God. Everything I do in my life are my works, and they will be judged one day by God Himself.
What are your works? Do you believe in God the Father? Do you believe in Jesus, the Son of God? Have you believed in Christ for salvation from sin and death? Do you have a prayer life? Do you fellowship with other believers? Do you study the word of God? Do you purposefully pursue righteousness? Do you purposefully avoid and depart from all sin? Are you an example of Christ to those around you? Do you give your time to those who are needy? Are you compassionate to the poor? Do you attend and support the body of Christ, church? Are you mindful of your actions? Do you confess your sins and repent? Are you obedient to the word of God? Do you deny self and follow the ways of Jesus?
As Jesus, we are to stay focused on that which is before us, our eternal life, not our earthly life, but our heaven life, our eternal life we will receive at the end of our faith (Hebrews 12:2).
The word of God reads each person must work out their own salvation with fear and trembling.
Before you can work out your own salvation, you must first receive salvation.
Once you are saved, then you can work out your own salvation.
Intimacy with God is not automatic with salvation. I must seek God, pursue God, purposefully put God first in my life, love God, and have fellowship with God to continue an intimate relationship with God.
YOU must work out YOUR OWN salvation
No one can do this for you, not your parents, not your spouse, not even your pastor.
No one can work out your salvation, you must work out your own salvation.
The same goes for someone else. As much as we would like to help our loved ones out, we cannot work out the salvation for our children, our spouse, or anyone else. God says they have to work out their own salvation.
Each believer in Christ has their own salvation. Your salvation is yours alone, uniquely God and yours alone.
Just like we all have our own unique human DNA, that makes each human uniquely different from anyone else in the world, when we are saved by the grace of God through believing in Christ Jesus, and receive the free gift of salvation, we each receive our own unique salvation. Faith is salvation's unique DNA. Your faith is different from anyone else's, uniquely between God and you, yet we are all of one faith in Christ Jesus.
Your own salvation is uniquely different from anyone else's in the world, because it is your own unique covenant with God. Salvation is your contract, your bill of sale to God, surrendering your life to God for eternity. Your unique life belongs to Christ Jesus through salvation, it is no longer your life.
When we are saved, by the grace of God through faith in Jesus Christ, we submit ownership of ourselves, we deny self, and replace our self will, with God's will. We give ourselves, surrender our body, heart, mind and soul to God. We willingly surrender our life to God. We hand over control over all aspects of our life to God alone, to do with what He will, not my will but thine be done.
We exchange our corruptible body for an incorruptible body.
We exchange our worldly, sinful flesh, carnal life with a heavenly, spiritual, eternal life with God.
We exchange living in the lusts of the world, with living in obedience and faith to the word of God.
Your own salvation is your own personal relationship with Jesus Christ. No one can have your unique personal relationship with Jesus but you alone.
God Almighty is able to have a unique personal relationship with every unique individual person in this world. With men this is impossible, but not with God, because with God ALL things are possible (Matthew 19:26; Mark 10:27).
At this writing, there are over seven billion people in the world. God sees each and every one as individuals. God knows and loves each individual seven billion people. God knows each person by their name. God knows the thoughts of each seven billion of us. God breathed life into each and every seven billion of us in this world. God sees inside the heart of each seven billion. God knows who is His, and who isn't His of all seven billion.
God wants to know each seven billion people in a unique and personal way, He wants to be each unique person's personal Lord and Saviour. But God will not force Himself on anyone. Each seven billion people have the same choice, to accept God into their hearts and lives, or not to believe.
God calls each seven billion people, individually to Him. It is God's will that all seven billion unique individuals accept His love and obtain salvation, and receive His free gift of eternal life. God is waiting on all those who have not accepted Him into their lives.
It is God's hope that all seven billion will choose to inherit His kingdom and spend eternity in His Glory with Him forever.
By the grace of God seven billion people through faith in God can be saved.
For God so loved the 7 billion people of the world, that He gave to 7 billion people of this world His only begotten Son, that whosoever of the 7 billion people believeth in Him should not perish, but 7 billion people could have everlasting life.
The same promise God gave to me in John 3:16, is given to all 7 billion people of this world.
Communication with God
To maintain any relationship there must be communication.
If you never spoke with your best friend ever again, how long do you think that relationship would last? Not very long. Without communication all relationships end.
We need daily communication with God our Father and Jesus our Lord to keep our relationship alive and growing. The more communication, the stronger our relationship.
How do we work out our own salvation?
We hear the word of God through prayer, through worship, through reading and meditating on His words.
Your salvation is God's and yours, salvation is a partnership between you and Christ Jesus. If you work out your own salvation with God it will grow. If you do nothing it will do nothing. Only you can grow and work it out, no one else can do it for you. That is why you must work out your own salvation.
God does not force us to works out your salvation, as with all things of God it is our choice. And as with all things of God, whatever He asks of us, He gives us the grace to perform, we are not alone.
God promises if we seek Him that He will come to us, we are not asked to work out our salvation alone, God is always with those who seek Him.
We love God
Our love in our hearts toward God is enough to motivate us to perform good works.
When you love someone, you can't help but want to do good things for them. When you love someone, you can't help but want to please them.
God desires our love (Deuteronomy 10:12). When we love God, He loves us (John 14:21,23). When we love God, He loves us more (Proverbs 8:17). We can never out love God, because He loved us first (1 John 4:19).
God has done so much for us that we can never repay, the least we can do is what He asks of us to do, which is to do good, live in righteousness, be holy and maintain good works.
God promises eternal gifts to those who love Him (Deuteronomy 7:9; Psalm 145:20; 1 Corinthians 2:9; James 1:12).
Maintaining good works are good and profitable to men.
God ordained that we should walk in good works.
The word of God reads we are saved through faith, not of works, so why should we do good works? Because God ordained that we should do good works.
We are created in Christ unto Good Works
There should be no question as to why we should do good works, because:
We are an example of Good Works
Believer's lives are an example of good works to the unsaved world. Believers are ambassadors of Christ Jesus, we are examples of Christ to the unsaved world, in everything that we do and say.
Are you an example of good works? God says you are. Believer's lives are an example of good works to the world of the lost, the unbelievers of Christ.
Our good works shine as an example for others. When we have Christ abiding in us, His light shines through us to the world. We are to let our light shine out into the darkness of the lost world.
We should always, as believers, be on guard in our daily lives, that everything we do is an example of God.
When we are out and about in public, there is always someone watching, even when we are not aware of them.
Though our actions and how we live righteously and good in our lives that others might see God in us and might be saved.
Do others see God in you? As believers of Christ, we are to live in such a way that others actually see Christ through us, the light of Christ shines so bright in us that others see it and glorify God.
Rich in Good Works
We are to be overflowing with good works, rich in good works and ready to distribute and willing to communicate.
Being rich in good works we have a good foundation against anything that to come and we hold onto our Blessed Hope of eternal life.
Zealous of Good Works
We are to be zealous of good works because Jesus Christ gave himself for us and redeemed us from all iniquity.
In every good work to do God's will
We do good works because it is well pleasing in God's sight.
Work because of everlasting life; Believe in Jesus, the Son of God
We maintain good works for the Lord because we know that only the good works will endure unto everlasting life, because we believe on Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Everlasting Amen.
Follow Christ, do the works of Jesus
We do the good works because we believe on Jesus.
The word of God reads all who believe in Christ Jesus should do the works that Jesus did.
And not just the good works of Jesus, but greater works than Jesus did.
Be fruitful in every good work
By being fruitful in every good work we may walk worthy of the Lord.
We should be fruitful in every good work because we are inheritors of the Light and because God delivered us from the power of darkness and translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son, Jesus.
The Good Work of righteousness
The good work of righteousness is accepted with God.
Blessed is the doer of the work
The doer of the good work is blessed.
Good Works Glorify God
We do good works because we want to glorify God and have others who see our good works also glorify God.
Through the word of God, we are able to see in what way we are to do good works.
Do all in the name of Jesus
In everything we do, believers should:
Show love through our works
As believers, we are all God's little children, and He wants us to love each other not just in words, but in our works, in the way we live and treat each other every day, in deed and in truth.
Focus on God and we will retain good works
The scriptures tell us how to retain good works:
If we can stay focused on Jesus Christ, remembering that He alone gave Himself for us, in order to save us and give us eternal life, and He redeemed us from all our sins, we will produce good works and be an example for Christ Jesus through our zealous good works.
The devil seeks out true followers of Christ Jesus daily, to destroy our joy, our peace, and our happiness.
The devil does not want us to follow Christ and obey God, the devil does not want us to maintain good works for the Lord. When the devil creeps in and tries to lead us away from the narrow straight path toward God, we should remember Jesus in the wilderness, and say what He said to satan, "Get behind me, satan", "Get away from me". God is in control of our lives, not satan. Satan has no power over the children of God.
Abound in Good Works
We are not just to have good works, but we are to abound in good works. Our good works are to continue growing as we grow in Christ Jesus, all the days of our lives.
Thoroughly furnished unto all Good Works
We are to be thoroughly furnished into all good works, nothing lacking.
When we think of a house thoroughly furnished, what comes to our mind? Every room has furniture, pictures on the walls, plants, knickknacks, nothing is missing anywhere, and nothing else could be added. This is how we should be, thoroughly furnished with good works in every 'room' of our lives.
Our works should be complete in every corner of our lives, whether we are at home, at work, at church, the grocery store, at the mall, standing in a long line, in a restaurant, speaking with other people, driving in our car, walking down the street, working on a project, doing chores, in every crevice of our lives, we should be thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
Have you been surprised at someone who you work with, when they tell you that they are a Christian, because they curse like the devil at work, they cheat and lie, they are ungodly and do not show the fruits of the Spirit of God?
Are people shocked when you tell them that you are a Christian, because of the way you live your life? Our Christian life is not something we take out at church. God says we are to be thoroughly furnished unto all good works, everywhere in our lives, at the office, at home and at church, everywhere in our lives.
A pattern of good works
In everything we do we should be watching what we say and do, because we are a pattern, a representative of Christ.
Help others do good works
We are not only to do good works ourselves, but also help others do good works.
Did you know you are to help others, encourage others to love and do good works? We are to provoke and promote love and good works in others.
Look for the second coming and Grow in Grace
We are to do good works while looking for the day of God, Christ Jesus' return.
Without judgment of other's works
The word of God tells us to prove our own works and do not judge.
Don't worry about what other people are doing.
Make sure you are doing what God wants you to do, prove your own work.
There are many scriptures that speak about judging others. God is the only judge of His people. We are not to judge anyone for anything.
We all fall into the trap of judging others. "I can't believe he said that, he is supposed to be a Christian". This kind of statement is wrong on many levels. By saying such a statement we commit many sins: we are gossiping, we are judging, we are questioning someone's faith in Christ, and we are being self-righteous.
There are many scriptures that tell us to watch what we say. Our words are powerful and can cause pain to others and cause us to sin.
We are to have sound speech that cannot be condemned.
Blameless in the day of our Lord
Did you know that as believers we are to be blameless when we see Jesus?
You may say, how can anyone in this evil world remain blameless before God?
Only by strengthening our faith with the word of God, being righteous, through prayer, worshiping God and doing good works can we be blameless in the day of our Lord.
Believers must hold fast onto our faith and work out our faith every day.
Follow Good and Hold Fast that which is Good
We are children of God, children of the light and we are to walk in the ways of Christ, to follow good, not evil, and hold on tight to that which is good.
If we do not work out our faith every day, we could slide away from God.
The word of God reads we are never to stop doing good works.
Always abounding in the work of the Lord
Don't stop! God says we are to always abound in the Lord's work.
We are to be steadfast which means firmly fixed in place, immovable, not subject to change, firm in belief and determination, and loyal.
Our belief in our work for God and our determination should be firmly fixed in our hearts, so we can continue always doing the work of the Lord.
Constantly affirm good works and maintain good works
We are to never stop doing the work of the Lord and we are to maintain good works.
Be ready to do whatever is good, show meekness to all, remembering we once were unbelievers living a sinful life.
And remembering that we were saved through the grace and love of God, not by our works of righteousness, but because of God's mercy and salvation through Jesus we have eternal life.
We should affirm constantly and carefully maintain our good works.
The word of God reads every person, ever born on this planet earth since the beginning of time, will be rewarded according to their works.
We should all ask ourselves - When I stand before God on the day of judgment:
"What good works will I have to present to God?"
"What reward will God give me, according to my works?"
All will be rewarded for their works
The word of God reads that every person will be rewarded according to his or her works.
This is very scary, if we do not have any good works for God.
For there is no respect of persons with God. This means it does not matter if you are a pastor, the president, religious leader, go to church every Sunday all your life, tell everyone you are a Christian, everyone's works will be judged by God the same.
God will look into our hearts and reward every person according to their works. Our works will not be judged by man's standards, but revealed by the fire of God.
Reward of the inheritance - eternal life
If we believe in Jesus and accepted Him into our hearts as our personal Lord and Saviour of our lives, if we serve the Lord Christ until the end, we will receive the reward of the inheritance, which is eternal salvation.
There are only two end rewards: eternal salvation or eternal damnation.
If we sow to the flesh, live in the sinful ways of the world, we will reap corruption, eternal damnation in hell.
If we sow to the Spirit, continue to walk in the ways of God until the end of our life working out our own salvation, we will reap life everlasting, eternity in the kingdom of God, heaven.
Whatever a man soweth, that shall he reap.
If you live in sin and have a lustful life, live in the flesh of the world, then that is what you will get at the end of your life, the same thing - corruption.
If you believe in Jesus, receive salvation, live in the Spirit, obeying God and walking in His ways, then that is what you will receive at the end of your life - incorruption.
The way you live now, what you sow, that shall he reap, that is what he will receive in the end of his life.
God will judge everyone according to their works
We are to respectfully fear the Lord God, because He will be the judge of every human being, and judge us all according to every man's work.
Even the dead will be judged according to their works
Only those who are saved can do good works.
How are we able to do anything? Through the grace of God.
God is able to make all grace abound toward you and me that we may abound to every good work.
Be confident of our Good Works
We are to be confident, that Jesus will never leave us, and that good work which he began in us will grow and continue until the day Christ returns.
When we step out in faith and do the good works of the Lord, Jesus will always be right there, by our side, helping us.
If we continue to work out our own salvation, through prayer, worship and studying the word of God, then God will continue to work in us, because we obey Him.
How do we 'do of his good pleasure'? We obey His Word.
How do we obey His Word? Well, in order to obey His Word, we must know His Word, so we need to study the Word of God.
In order to do the will of God, we must first know the will of God.
One way to know the will of God is to study His word. Another way to know the will of God is to ask Him, though prayer and worship.
I know for an absolute God given fact that I am not saved by any works that I can do in the name of God, because God says so over and over again in His Holy word.
The word of God reads, you are NOT saved of yourselves, we are NOT saved of works, otherwise men would boast, that they saved themselves, or of their good works.
Only God can save anyone from sin and death.
If our works could save us, then the grace of God would be of none effect.
If our works saved us, the death of Christ Jesus is meaningless, is in vain.
Christ died for our salvation once and for all. Jesus alone paid the price of our redemption. Christ died for the sins of the world. Christ Jesus died once and for all the price of sin was paid to God for our sins. God requires no more sacrifice for sins. Jesus died once and will not die anymore.
Only by the grace of God, only by faith in God are we saved. Only by believing in God's only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, and having faith and trust in Jesus can anyone be saved from sin and death and hell.
The grace of God alone is enough to save us all, He does not need our works. God's plan is to save us, to save all the people of the world, without our help.
Many, many people believe that they have to do works for God, in order to obtain salvation, even though this is NOT what God says.
I am thankful that God does not require works for my salvation, because I know that NO work from me would ever be worthy?
Nothing we have or will ever have, nothing we can give to God would ever be enough to pay the price of salvation.
There was only one sacrifice, one work, that God would accept for the sins of all the people of this world, and that was the living sacrifice of His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ.
Only Jesus Christ was worthy to pay the price, for all the sins of the world, for our salvation, for our redemption. Only Jesus Christ was worthy to shed His blood to cover the sins of all the people of this world. Only Jesus Christ was worthy to die and be resurrected into life, so that by believing on Him, we might receive eternal life with Him in the Kingdom of God for all of eternity.
Through the crucifixion and death on the cross of Jesus Christ, the price was paid in full for all the sins of all the people who will ever live in this world. Through the resurrection of Christ Jesus from the grave, Jesus destroyed sin and death forever, so by our faith in Him we too can receive the gift of life.
When Jesus said "it is finished", when He died and "gave up the ghost", the work required by God was finished, Christ paid the price for the sins of the world, the works required by God for salvation was completed in Jesus. No other works are required for our salvation, Jesus paid our debt in full.
When we put our trust and faith in Christ Jesus, when we with all our heart believe in God alone, as our Saviour and Lord over all of our life, we too can receive salvation and receive everlasting life.
People who believe that they are saved by their works, ignore the word of God and make up their own rules.
The word of God reads these people are ignorant of God's righteousness.
The only way to see God, to be saved, to enter Heaven and into the presence of God when one dies, is to have faith in God.
We are saved by believing in God with our whole heart, nothing wavered. We are saved when we believe and trust, have faith in God alone.
By the grace of God, we are able to receive salvation though faith in God.
Without complete trust and complete faith in God alone, no one is saved.
We are NOT saved by God AND our works, we are saved by faith in God alone. Faith plus works does NOT equal salvation. Faith plus nothing equals salvation.
The one who created the heavens and the earth, who calls every star by name, who created every animal, every creature, who breathes life in to every human being, the Creator of all things, God Almighty is able to save all of us, all by Himself.
If you have put your faith and trust in anyone or anything other than Jesus Christ, the scriptures say you cannot inherit the Kingdom of God, are NOT saved.
Look at what this scripture says, many people have a great zeal for God but NOT according to knowledge of God. Many people think they are serving God but are NOT according to God.
Just because someone has zeal of God doesn't mean they are working for God. Many people do works for themselves or for someone else.
They are ignorant of God's righteousness.
They may even know the word of God and what He says - BUT they want to serve God their own way - they go about to establish their own righteousness because they have NOT submitted themselves to the righteousness of God.
Service to God doesn't count unless you have submitted yourself totally to God. If you are serving God your own way, instead of God's way, you are NOT serving God.
Then the scripture says Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believeth.
Jesus Christ is the end of the law, He's it, He alone saves and no one else or nothing else can save anyone, except Jesus.
Christ is the end of the law. The laws that said you must stand here, pray here, sacrifice this, do this or do that, do works. The life sacrifice of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, was the end of all the laws for righteousness to everyone who believes in Jesus.
We obtain salvation through belief in Jesus Christ by the grace of God. We are saved by grace, not by works we can do.
Salvation is the gift of God.
We are NOT saved by any works, but we are ordained to do good works, because we are created in Christ Jesus.
The sacrifice of Jesus Christ paid the price for all sinners on earth. God does not accept anything else in exchange for His free gift of salvation, except total and complete faith, belief in His Son, Jesus Christ.
Only by accepting Jesus Christ into your life, to be your personal Lord and Saviour and fully giving yourself to Him, turning from all sin in your life, can anyone be saved and receive eternal life.
No one can ignore the word of God and receive His salvation.
Faith in anything or anyone other than God alone is sin. The wages of sin is death and separation from God for eternity.
The word of God is the same yesterday, today and forever. The word of God never changes. The word of God has stood the test of time. The word of God will exist forever. The word of God has always existed. The word of God will not be changed, not one word will ever be altered.
God promises that each and every word will be fulfilled, all of His word will be done.
There are no "new" revelations. Everything we see and know in the world, God knows about. God knows everything about us, He knows all about our past and God knows all about our future. Nothing has ever happened that God did not know about. Nothing will ever happen that God does not know about.
There has not been a time, without God. And there will not be a time in the future without God, unless you choose not to believe in God and be eternally separated from God. God has always existed.
God loves us and truly cares about each and every one of us that He created.
